So in ME3, when EDI is asking Shep for relationship advice, she says "Shepard, you've had firsthand sexual experience..."
How EDI would know is obvious if you've romanced someone on the Normandy, but what if you had a playthrough that involved zero love interests? Would EDI still ask that question with that wording, essentially assuming your Shep has been there/done that?
Why do I care? Aside from random curiosity, this question came to my mind when I was looking at the DA:I threads, and apparently a good number of people are interested in future Bioware games acknowledging asexuality/asexual relationships. So I couldn't help but wonder if there might've been a ME player purposely playing an asexual Shep who might've been ..irked by EDI's question ![]()

On my last playthrough, I broke up with my L.I. and remained single, but in headcanon I wasn't. ![]()

Well, I'd imagine Shepard really gets around prior to the series. I know mine does/did.
He was a regular lady-killer and a playboy, and Miranda was the one that turned him into the lady-killer in love. Though I also believe it was the same for Miranda, with her essentially confirmed to be a man-eater, with Shepard being the one she falls in love with as well.

I believe EDI will ask you about "first-hand sexual experience" even if you had no previous relationships. I guess it's just because BioWare didn't expect you to "not" romance anyone before ME3.

Yeah, several comments from BW members have all said they basically expect you to have chosen an LI. I know some people don't for various reasons.
I can understand their concerns: A lot of them think that the LI's are essentially romantic plot tumors on the games and take too much focus away from the story, and that people are too concerned with optional content that is essentially a side-plot to the series. I know some have complained about a 'lack of content' for people who don't romance anyone, though BW came on and said that it was on them for choosing not to bother with romances. There are a few line changes for non-romanced Shepards that I'm aware of (such as the final conversation with Anderson), but otherwise, no real changes in the game.
Personally, I'm the guy who thinks that not enough content was devoted to the romances. Then again, there aren't a lot of fictional stories that I don't view as love stories at their core.
The way I view Mass Effect is essentially as an epic space opera love story.

Could be an assumption (or based on medical records?), and it can be deflected/avoided with: "Not touching that subject". Which leads to ...
I honestly don't remember if she mentioned it or not during my one no-romance playthrough, which turned into a Traynor-romance trilogy run after that.

I guess someone at Bioware thought it would be cool for a robot to be asking about stuff like that. It needs to be put back as a hologram and have a ME2 squadmate instead.

Reporting for duty. Brynn will make herself at home in the observation lounge. No one's staying there anymore, right?

Well, Shepard could have had a sexual encounter with the Asari Consort. I'm pretty certain that by age 29 Shepard is not a virgin.

The Asari Consort has done this and that. No way is my Shepard going near that.

And the other.
Kargesh said eating a fish on the Presidium is like screwing Sha'ira, the consort. That tells me that he's been down there like many others. Is this the part where I ask the Asari Consort about what is the "Elcor mating tome?"

See, that's precisely why we don't discuss "the other".
Lol, you make it sound like the movie "Insidious" where the old lady talks about a place called "the further." ![]()

False.
Forget how the line went, though, but I know it was different.

Each of my Shepards romanced someone. I've got one lined up who won't, but not sure if I'll play that one all the way through. Moved on to Tomb Raider (2013) at the moment. I actually RP my canon Shepard as having been a virgin up until ME2 - something very bad happened on Torfan, tied to his earlier experiences on Mindoir, which killed any interest in it for him for many years. It was kind of interesting taking that path - for instance, approaching the situation with the Consort as someone who comes to respect her intellect, but does not respect her job, and has zero interest in sleeping with her. He's the Bud White of Mass Effect, if anyone here has seen LA Confidential.

Wonder what not romancing anyone until now says about me then
Garrus felt like incest, Aria wasn't a real option and nobody else seemed to fit. I'm only romancing Garrus in this ME3 playthrough, all my previous runs (and I did a lot of ME1-ME2) were solo. It doesn't help that once I have a canon Shepard I can't play anyone else seriously, I just fool around with different classes and then get bored and go back to my character.

edi mentions, "When you're sexually interested in another, what kind of advances do you make?", if Shepard is in no romance.

Why would I want Jacob? You can have him. I would rather have Miranda on the ship instead.

ME2 squadmate instead.
I'd rather have Wrex in ME3 than any other squadmate from ME2. You know, throw in some variety instead of having endless romance options.
Mordin would be awesome too, but Tuchanka.

I'm sad Shiala wasn't a romance option. When she said her little goodbye to you on Illium, it's like she really liked you. :'(
