Hawke really commented quite a bit about going to a Beach, didn't he/she? Besides, if Hawke went to a Beach than Hawke would be proving Varric wrong who didn't seem to believe that Hawke would ever go to a Beach.
Think Hawke ever went to a Beach by the time DAI is going on?

thats actually one of my favorite banters from da2, the day hawke goes to the beach is the day an armada of angry demon pirates shows up.
technically the wounded coast had beaches so it could be... or if you romanced isabella, hawke set out on her ship with her... and pirates go to beaches all the time. as for where hawke is now.... im thinking tevinter

Really? I never noticed that. I suppose Varric glossed over the more quiet moments in Hawke's life, so it's possible this already happened in the seven year span of time the Champion resided in Kirkwall.

What is it with BioWare and beaches? That's where everyone in Mass Effect 3 was going to be, too. Is beach BioWare talk for 'heaven?" No characters ever die in a BioWare game ... they just go to the beach. So Hawke is at the beach with Mordin and she's gathering the sea shells Mordin is testing.

Nope. Hawke along with Shepard and the Warden are in Bioware's basement playing cards until needed for a cameo or sequel that requires their presence. Until that time they will keep playing cards.

I'm sure they'll make an appearance in this.
With how they're treating Leliana and Cullen, they cannot be in your party I believe, I don't see how the Warden and the Champion could't be used to lead forces elsewhere or do other stuff to help the cause.
