Megabeast, did you just suggest a acolyte+smg build? tsk tsk :P

Well.. he's already using the Acolyte, might as well take the cheese all the way to the max until he gets better with the kit and can scale down. I use the Graal on her.

I can't play either very well. Somehow, I can manage to get good score with those kits, but spend a lot of time on the floor.

This was the cause of my medigel shortage 2 weeks ago. Forced myself to use smashguard for a challenge, used it in a lot of bad/inexperienced pugs where I should have played it safe with an engi or soldier. Ended most games with 120K+ on gold, but 6 gels used

Thx for replies. Played a few matches on the vanguard. Didn't know to roll-cancel so that changed things up quite a bit. Got the hang of charging enemies near a corner/wall then backwards diagonally rolling behind cover. Worked great except for the occasional praetorian butt-laser.

Don't usually go with bonus evo on BC either so that was a fun change. Haven't tried the adept yet, might later

Still in trials

Acolyte Incendiary Lash not bad.  Smash for boss dmg.  Charge power synergy spec

Shame there was never an ex-Cerberus engineer....that turret, specced with an incendiary or disruptor evo wouldve been fun to see.

For both characters I use heavy power damage focused builds, though the Adept is the only one I use with any frequency, and that is usually for the Biotic Mastery challenge.

Singularity or Lash for lift/force kills on unarmored enemies.
Smash on armored enemies due to the multiple-multiplicative bonuses that it receives against barriers and armor
Singularity and Smash against bosses and at choke points.

In all the strategy is to deplete the wave budget using Lash and Singularity first, only then do I resort to close quarters combinations on bosses once their flankers are all dead.

6 Singularity [Radius, Lift Damage, Detonate]
6 Lash [Detonate, Damage Over Time, Shield Penetration]
6 Smash [Biotic Combo, Force & Damage, Armor Damage]
5 Phoenix Training [Damage & Capacity, Power Damage]
3 Fitness

M-358 Talon X [Heavy Barrel V, Power Magnifier V]

Drill Rounds III or Armor Piercing Rounds III/IV
Pistol Rail Amp III
Power Amplifier Module III/IV
Geth Scanner V

For the Vanguard I have tried a Biotic Charge (Bonus Power) build combined with full melee damage bonuses and Smash evolved as above, but with no points in Lash. I do not particularly like it as I despise builds that skip powers, and there are several other Vanguards I would rather use regardless (Drell, Asari... the Volus)

^ I use a different gun and equipment/gear but that's (I think) exactly my SmashDept build.

For the Vanguard I go 6/6/6/4/4 with, as everyone else has stated, Bonus Power as a must-have evo on BC... my main oddity for the Vanguard is using the Mattock with Warp ammo (Stronghold gear and Power Damage equipment) . It's light enough not to screw your CDs, accurate at range (useful on upload missions) and just generally "not bad", for gold anyway.

Only downside is the frantic clicking of the left mouse button... I'm on my 3rd Razer Deathadder in a bit over 2 years now :|

Yeah, it's the exact same build I use for the Adept too.  I used to use the Talon on him, but I have started liking the Paladin more.  I feel like he really suffers at long ranges, and since I like to do U/U, I want a gun that can hit at long range if I need it.

Needs more Annihilation Field use, less Dark Channel. You're supposed to shoot them with the Acolyte (strip shields + stagger), then run up in their face and use Throw.. with Annihilation Field on of course. Or you can run up in their face and shoot them (to steal their shields with the Drain evo on Annhilation Field) then Throw them.

Dark Channel is typically for priming a boss so you can shoot it with Warp on with your SMG sidearm. It has other uses (ranged stagger) but that's the main one.

Raider or GTFO. I like to strip shields and leave my enemy dead as hell at the same time.

I just tried the Cerb Adept on Glacier with the megabeast setup. Was even starting to have some fun... but had to bail by wave 4. This Vorcha's Flamer sound was glicthed up and playing on very high repeat like a broken record, thus I had to bail before a headache and madness starts kicking in. But mega is right in that he's very simple to play with the very simple description he provided. Will try him again another time. And will save the Vanguard for much later since he's more complex + vanguarding is my least fave thing in this game. With biotic kits I'm hoping to get as much enjoyment out of them as I do from my engineers. Which seem to be my current fave class right now.

After my 4th attempt to use the Fury on Silver (I understand how her powers work, I just can never stay alive for ten seconds at a time BECAUSE TISSUE PAPER SHIELDS), I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe the N7 Fury doesn't suit my playstyle. Maybe the way she is supposed to be ideally used (as quoted above) just doesn't suit me. It's so frustrating that I've had a friend take me into a private lobby and show me how to strategically use the N7 Fury on Silver (vs Reapers) and I went down like every wave even despite strafing, taking cover and ducking.

Yesterday I tried doing what you suggested; I used Annihilation Field and ran amongst shielded enemies. If I so much as got poked by a non-shielded enemy, my screen went red and I'd be downed again, or at least very close to downed. Is the N7 Fury not designed to take out small groups or something? Does she have non-existent shields? Because seriously! My friend described her as a glass cannon.

She looks cool, I really like her powers, but goddamn I just can't remain on my feet. I didn't have this issue with the other Asari Adept even though I can't get the hang of her Stasis power, nor did I have this much trouble with the Justicar.

I thought this thread was about the Phoenix class, but anyway, what was the build that u were using? Did you have any points in fitness? If you we're relying on biotic explosions I would suggest putting points in fitness and don't worry about the passive at the moment. Once you are confident then you can start taking points away from fitness. I play my Fury in a hit and run play style if you know what I mean. I use it with 6/6/6/5/3.

Were you hosting? Any CQC class is much easier when you don't have to deal with off-host lag. That goes double for the fury, whose dodge is teleport-based.

You should vary your tactics depending on the group you're facing. If it's just husks or cannibals, no problem; charge in and detonate your BEs. Marauders are a bit more dangerous, but after the first BE their shields should be down, which will make them panic from being caught in the Annihilation Field. You can then throw or shoot them in the head at your leisure. Be more careful when taking on ravagers; they'll pop their sacs when you get close. After the BE, run behind cover, out of AF range. You can then reengage, or shoot to finish them off. Use DC + Throw to kill brutes and banshees from a distance; don't charge them until you're more comfortable with the class and know when it's safe to do so.

Also, don't be too proud to use Cyclonics if necessary. You don't (or shouldn't) need CM IV for silver, but I or II can keep you alive while you're still learning the ropes.

I'm not a terribly good Fury player but two things that helped me a lot: playing on host and learning to cast throw before the visual evidence of annihilation field appeared. If I waited until the mook got tagged by AF before pressing the throw button he'd either shoot me to death or strafe so my throw missed. Run into a crowd with a certain target in mind and start the throw wind up just as you're coming into range with AF. After a bit of practice you'll be setting off BEs left and right. Also, don't hang around in a crowd -- run in, boom, run out.

@hong; why are kits with annihilation field supposed to fear ravage sacs, since swarmers die on contact with it? I know when I play these kits, I love playing with ravagers more then anything else.

Geth Scanner helps a lot with tissue paper shields. After all, Geth Scanner first originated on the paper tissue shield original Geth kits to greatly help out with tissue paper shields (that, and it only makes sense for us to experience seeing through walls like the Geth faction as well :P).

Also, if an enemy has you in their line of sight for 3 seconds, your dead, cause that's when they start shooting you until dead or out of sight for another 3 seconds. To which the process repeats again. So you have to move fast. ie. got 3 second from the moment they see you to take them out. So work like the shadow you are.

Anyways, on topic, just played the Cerb Adept with 3 fitness, and yes, Geth Scanner was of great help. Think I'll use it for all low fitness kits and not fear of making things too easy due to it? Only issue was I should of done a lot better in the damage output. But that's something that comes with time and getting the hang of the kit more and more, day by day. Even if he is pretty simple to figure out.

I also wonder it folks prefer the Cerb Adept or Human Adept more? ... Vanilla boogieman don't need to answer this.

I had honestly wondered if they directly took this with inspiration from Mass Effect 3.  :D
