As the title states. It's YOUR choice, your Inquisitor's dying choice. Who will lead after his/her passing?

Whoever you leave it to will most likely not follow in your footsteps, but tailor the Inquisition's motives to their own. For example, leaving it to Leliana may result in her using it's influence for more of an intelligence agency for powerful people who can keep the place nicely funded. Leaving it to Iron Bull will likely result in him using it as both a military and intelligence force for the Qunari, as the Qun will demand it. Leaving it to Cole may result in...weird stuff but possibly an influential force that focuses on helping the "common folk". Sera would likely approve!

Who would you leave it to? Let's get some thoughtful responses.

As much as I'd like to leave it Cassandra or Cullen, I fear they are a little too idealistic to lead such an influential force. Sometimes, you gotta do some dirty deeds to maintain order and stability.

I'd like to leave it to Blackwall but I know he'd treat the entire force like a martyr, sacrificing the entire Inquisition for the greater good. Though noble, I'd rather not see the Inquisition crumble, even if it's done in such a benevolent fashion.

My final answer: Leliana or Sera. Either of them. For reasons that I'll let y'all infer :)

Varric, he will make it glorious...  He'd also hate it, so it would be amusing.

Easily Cassandra, her job as a seeker means she needed to be an unbias observant on Mage-Templar issues and her experience as a leader solidifies that decision

Cullen is at his roots a templar therefore he's a bias party in the MvT war but a definite contender

Varric has no experience in leading nor would he want to

Iron Bull, the Qun would not allow it

Leliana is a definite 2nd choice

Blackwall would be contender from what i know but i dont know enough to make that decision

Cole....just no

Vivienne im pretty sure has something up her sleeve, if anyones a traitor, its her

Solas is the hippy of the group, he doesnt seem like he'd want to be a leader

Dorian i dont know enough about but he doesnt  have the credentials of Cassandra

Sera seems to hotheaded and impulsive

Scribbles...well we know nothing beyond her skill to write so she's last in line

Kardol, the Legion of the Damned Commander back in DAO.  He always struck me at the hyper competent sort.

Probably Cassandra.

She seems responsible, moral and, most importantly, capable. Vivienne and Cullen are both condenders but I think they have too many ties in the Mage/Templar war. Although I'm tempted just to put Varric as the inquisitor :D.

Kinda surprised at the answers. Did you guys forget how hot headed and impulsive Cassandra was in DA:2? How easily she believed rumors about Hawke?

Varric is renown for his ability to lie plus she caught on more than once, he was being interrogated, aggression is to be expected.

Why Sera though, she has no credentials to make her a leader

The Warden. He/she will come out of retirement, cut the hand off the Inquisitor and tie it to his/her own hand to use to close the breech.

A committee of Cullen, Leliana and Scribbles, headed by Cassandra. Remaining companions can sit in as conciliatory members.

The Grey Warden.

"So it falls down to me to save the world again eh? Pff, you bloody amateurs."

Or this dirty filthy peasant:

Basically, dirty filthy peasant is a pretty cool guy, eh fights the Grey Warden and doesn't afraid of anything.

Sera is not technically a leader, but an inspirational figure to the common folk, which is the majority of the population. Also factored in her ties and experience with Red Jenny.

Mostly, Sera because her philosophy/ideals are very much in unison with my own. Thus, she would make an appropriate successor to my Inquisitor.

Still, I'd pick Leliana. The line of succession would go Leliana > Sera > Cassandra > Cullen > Blackwall > no one. Everyone else go about your lives.

Since the game hasn't come out yet and we don't really know how these characters will behave/change over time with your influence (similar to how you could change Morrigan and Miranda over the course of the game to be less cold), I would have to decide based on information given from previous games or through character bios from Bioware. That being said:

Cassandra would have to be my first choice. Even if she is a little idealistic or harsh i feel that we as the gamer can change her.

Leliana might be second, although the past 10 years has chafed her into a harder person. Maybe she could be Cassandra's #2.

Maybe Blackwall, but there's one very big problem, he a GREY WARDEN. And he's getting older which means he'll be going for The Calling soon.

Sera and Iron Bull are interesting given them both working/leading mercenary groups, but that might mean they would lean more to battle and less to diplomacy.

Which is why, at this point, I would give it to Cassandra because a Seeker and the Divine's Right Hand she has the experience needed to lead.
