Orphan Black is a science fiction drama starring Tatiana Maslany as Sarah Manning, a thief/drifter and orphan who unwittingly comes across the suicide of a woman who appears to look just like her, opening up massive revelations about her origins as a clone and that of others in the World.

 

The series opens up the topic of human cloning, its effect on the human psych, its moral and ethical implications, and personal identity.

 

Airs Springs/Summers on BBC America at 9pm EST/EDT.

 

I've recently picked it up, binge watched it, and am now part of the "Clone Club"(Orphan Black's fandom).

I'm tempted because I like how one actress has to play so many roles but with the rate I go through a series and the amount of series I have on my backlog list to watch it probably won't happen for a while.

Still, I've heard good things from sources I trust about this show.

No rush. Season 3, if following the trend, won't be till Spring of next year. Season 2 just ended a few weeks ago.

 

And yes, this show is top.

Hour long episodes w commercials, without commercials about 40 minutes per episode, ten episodes per season, two seasons as of this posting.

I like it. It's not among my favourites, but I enjoyed both seasons. Tatiana Maslany is doing a great job playing 3/4 of the characters on the show!

I'm worried it will be cancelled before it truly hits its stride, so I'm waiting for season 3 or 4 to come out before I partake of its fruit. It's like Alphas - a cool concept that could be amazing show or a show that runs out of steam (or viewers... or both) just in time to make me always wish they'd make more.

No need to worry. It doesn't have some mega-huge fandom but its love on the web is strong, growing, and in the 18-49 viewing demographic for BBC America it is the second highest rated series only behind Doctor Who.

Please don't mention Alphas in the same sentence as Orphan Black. Given the choice of 3 Inches and Alphas, Syfy made the wrong decision.

SyFy has made... MANY wrong decisions over the years. The fact that the Sharknado sequel is coming out in the very near future says that they make the decisions that get them the most money, though. And I can't begrudge that... especially if it means more Sharknado.
