I have to admit that I was taken by surprise with Dragon Age:Origins. I was expecting it to be a good game of course since it's from Bioware and Bioware is the new Squaresoft basically but I didn't think it would blow me away the way it did.
Mass Effect 2 on the other hand is having me squeal like a Japanese school girl. I have huge expectations because of how good Mass Effect 1 was and because it's Bioware.
So, when was the last time you had such high anticipation for a game prior to it's release?
For me, I would say I have not been this excited since Final Fantasy VII and that was when I was a freshman in high school.
When was the last time you were this excited about a game?

Not since Halo 2, Halo 3, and GTA 4.

I came close to such levels in the release of Uncharted 2, though I don't think I've been quite so excited for a game in quite a while.

This is the most excited about a game I've been since Mario Tennis way back on the N64, when I was 13.

Never. For me this is the first time that I have followed a game this closely during development. I was very excited about ME1 as well, but not nearly as much as I am for ME2.

The last time I was excited for a game was Half-life 2 way back in 2004.

The launch party for Halo 3.
I was sooo amped.
I feel more excited about Me2 than I did for Halo 3.

Dragon Age for me too.
I will happily admit to being a Bioware fangirl though.

This is the first game I've ever been this psyched out for.
I looked forward to DA:O, but it was never anything like this.

Never this excited. I mean the only games that come close are GTA IV and Assassins Creed 2. I guess in the near future Bad Company 2 and perhaps Fallout: New Vegas may come close to this kind of nervous breakdown. XD

hmm....its been awhile...
Never this anticipated....but the closest would have been Oblivion...reason being...
Morrowind, which I picked up on a hunch was what set me into my "gamer" path, I put hundreds of hours in it most likely..
When Oblivion came out, it was the next part of my favorite game series (it still is my favorite series) but the thing with ME is the carry over....thats why I am anticipating it

I think one game that came close to the anticipation level was Deus Ex:Invisible War.
Of course, that game turned out to be a huge let down, being vastly inferior to the original in nearly every way.
I don't expect to be let down with Mass Effect 2.
I also remember Unreal Tournament III and like with Deus Ex Invisible War, I was dissapointed. Seems like they only improved the graphics while dumbing down everything else.
I greatly prefer Unreal Tournament 2004.
