The last games i was excited about were ME1, FO3, HL2, and Dead space.
When was the last time you were this excited about a game?

I probably haven't been chomping at the bit for a game like this since the original Mass Effect. I loved Dragon Age, but I wasn't so excited I took two days off from work in anticipation of when the game came out...

I've been suffering from bouts of insomnia waiting for ME2 the last few days, so apparently this is the first game I'm actually very, very excited about it. *shakes fist at BioWare for ruining her ability to sleep*
I mean, I WAS excited about Fallout 3 after years of waiting, but no insomnia. I was also excited about DA:O, but not to the apparent insomnia-inducing level prompted by the ME2 launch trailer.

Not since Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Resident Evil 5 came close but disappointed me greatly when I finally got my hands on it. I don't see this being the case.

Hmm.
Last time was Age of Conan. Needless to say, it was a punch in the face. Before that it was Half-life 2.
Half-life 2 must be the game I was most excited by. Saved for months to buy a brand new computer, that arrived the same day Half-life 2 arrived. I powered it up, and immediately placed the CD in the computer. It was heaven. Pure bliss. The time up to that was nerve wrecking. Especially since no one had a grasp on what Half-life 2 really was! It's promises seemed unreal at that time.
Not that I'm not excited about Mass Effect 2
Else I wouldn't be on these forums so much up to the release.
I hype myself for all big games. It makes the experience so much better, if they meet the expectations. (Curse you AoC!) I'm also very hyped about SWTOR, but it's still a year away

Well, I was insanely excited for Fallout 3. Probably even much, much more than ME 2. However, the legend that is Fallout has had years to simmer and build up to a nice frothing frenzy.
I was only moderately excited about Dragon Age. I was sour because I knew Dragon Age was putting the final nails into the coffin of Neverwinter Nights. DM Client, Toolset, Player Client may never return - and that is a loss for the gaming industries future. However - I've played, and enjoyed, Dragon Age immensly. It is incredibly immersive and the NPC interaction is amazing.
To Mass Effect's credit - I purchased both books and enjoyed them immensly. I recently replayed ME 1 for PC (my first playthrough was on XBox360) and it's the only RPG I've ever played twice through. (I intend on making Dragon Age the second - and ME 2 the first game I play twice or more)
So - yeah, I've got dozens of games I've been this excited about - or even more, but Mass Effect 2 is going to rock.

I've never been this excited for a game. The last game I remember counting down the days for was the original Perfect Dark.
