Excitement Drain

Who else feels like the more they release about DA:I the less interested you get in it?
I can't point the blame on any one thing like characters, romance, or artstyle, namely because there is so much we don't know yet, but I cannot shake the feeling that this game isn't going to live up to the hope and hype that we've been building ever since DA2.
I started out really excited for this game, but as the announcements and reveals have been coming, it just seems less and less like what I had hoped it would be like. Perhaps this game just isn't going to be up my alley.
Who else has been feeling increasingly put off by the game?

That's natural though. My excitement levels tend to rise and fall over time, especially for games that I've followed for... two years now? You can't expect to maintain a high.

Not me. Polar opposite. The more they release the more excited I get, which sucks, because October 10th (the day it comes out in NZ) also happens to be exactly the day my end of year exams start.
Preorder put on hold for longer. ![]()

Mine will probably lower a bit if no new information is going to be released but that'll change the closer to release the game gets.

I'm not feeling put off, but it sounds like you just need a break from the hype.
Take some time off from the forums.

It doesn't bother me that people are excited, that's great for them, it just looks increasingly that this isn't the game for me

Just curious, what aspects of the game have started to turn you off?
My excitement levels have gone up. From around 2012-2013, it was hard to get pumped about anything in the DA universe. I really enjoyed DA 2, and it hurt seeing the game bashed so much by the online community. Things got so toxic that I just tuned out for a while. I'm confident that Inquisition will redeem Bioware (not that they needed redeeming, in my opinion) and be a stellar RPG.
I might be different from other fans, though. I don't really care about the game mechanics. Bioware could say that it will be all action, purely turn-based and tactical, or a combination of the two and it wouldn't really matter to me. I only care about the characters and the story. Thrilled shitless that Morrigan is returning, and Scribbles looks like she is going to be awesome.

Marketing and "reveals" have often been misleading before, so I wouldn't be too worried about it.

I haven't kept up with it, so I can't really comment on my level of excitement, as it's hardly there to begin with, but that last trailer release brought a lot great vibes for me personally - though I'm coming from a perspective of not picking it up right away, as I want to see what BSN's reaction is going to be before I dive into it. I say it's highly unrealistic to have the same "excitement" as you did two years ago, as it tends to naturally fluctuate.

I'm excited about the game but yeah I wont be as active on the forums since I was hanging around for Josephine who the Scribblenauts and I had been waiting on for awhile. I'll probably pop in here and there whenever someone wants to make a thread to b^&*% about the romance choices or something pointless just for a giggle until I see the sentence: "We're Done Here".
Still looking forward to the official release.

Once September rolls around it'll be time for a media blackout, which will erase any info fatigue prowling the forums has caused. I've abandoned the ME3 boards for about a few weeks now and I'm already starting to get the itch to play it again.

Maybe you should just lower your expectations, so that you won't be disappointed at all.
If you go into it with as low of expectations as possible, things will only look better in comparison.
A note to everyone: it's your own fault if the game doesn't live up to your personal hype.

Sorry to hear that. D: I suppose I'm lucky because although there are still some things I'm not for sure about, my excitement seems to be increasing gradually.

The characters in particular do not appeal to me in the slightest. Loghain, Alistair, Fenris, Sten, and Shale all look to be leagues better than anything this group has to offer. So far, perhaps due to just getting tidbits of info, they look like snooze inducing bores, perhaps Iron Bull or Dorian can shake it up, but the rest look dreadful.
So far none of the romances appeal to me, but that's a factor of the characters not being appealing as well.
And my hopes for the game beyond the characters are even less, the story seems to be shaping up as a generic save the world deal, just substitute Veil Tears for the Blight. My confidence in BioWare's ability to make a solid RoG were smashed after ME3 and DA2

I think it may just be overexposure, plus the long wait with the very occasional tidbit. I feel like that from time to time. When it happens I just take a break from everything DA for a good long while, until I'm starting to feel interested again. I have spent months without as much googling for news about DAI.
The whole hanging around the forums in wait of some extremely tiny bit of information that will only keep you excited for a few minutes doesn't really work all that well for everyone.

I'm incredibly excited and it just grows.
But, I always say it, I'm a tool for bioware.

We know virtually nothing about the story as it would be spoiler-y though.
It seems like the things that would turn your opinion around about this game are things we'll only know after the game is released.

Probably, but it's just a feeling I have, I never claimed to have any objective prof the game will be atrocious

Yeah, this thread is kinda pointless. We won't be able to properly criticize anything until after someone completes a playthrough in October and posts something about it.

The story might be a traditional 'save the world' plot, but the dynamic world and the focus on building your organization sounds engaging.
I'd also suggest that you not write off all the characters. Mary wrote Sten and is writing Vivienne, and I find her characters tend to be the kind that are easy to dismiss at first glance, but become far more interesting once you engage with them.

I said that I'm having some misgivings about the game based on what we've seen so far, no one is making you reply to it
