@OP do you feel like your views have been tainted by the character threads themselves or merely from what Bioware has offered so far in the way of information?
 )

I stay out of the character threads mostly, too much fanboy/girlism

True. And mine had up to that moment so I was very confused.

She just pouts then goes fine and you fight some skeletons on the way back.

Fair enough then, that does seem like unusual railroading given what Dragon Age usually allows you to do.

Personally it seems a bigger deal that you let Merrill get away with what she does, given that in Origins and now Inquisition you are usually given a lot of freedom to associate with/not associate with certain companions.

Fans of a character are often that character's worst enemy.

This thread isn't much different than what I encounter when I read the comments section on YouTube.

Why do you feel the need to rain on everyone else's parade? I guess misery loves company.

Also, why all of the debate and deliberation. You would think that you were contemplating getting a kidney transplant or something. The game costs $60. If it proves to be less than stellar, no biggie.

If $60 is a major investment for you, then waning enthusiasm for Dragon Age is the least of your problems.

I'm not raining on anyone, I'm saying that I have misgivings about the game

True I guess it bothers me because DA railroading is usually beneficial. Grace nonsense was the opposite.

Merrill doesn't bother me that much though I think you should've been able to turn her over to the templars. But I like Merrill so I'm more liable to go "meh" and headcanon she saved my PC's life and he does the whole "I owe you a debt and I'll honor it" kind of thing since he's the whole scratch my back and I scratch yours types (also explains why he doesn't try to kill Anders after act 2).

It's not just the game. You've said multiple times that you have "lost faith in Bioware" and brought up the cliched argument that DA2 and ME3 will dictate how all future Bioware games will be.

If people express enthusiasm for the game or its characters, you mock them for displaying "fanboyism."

I found nigh all companions in DA2 to be utterly boring tbh m8, yet i still enjoyed the game

For myself i believe DA:I will surpass DA:O an DA2 combined, but im right easy to please since i have the mentality of "its only a game" an expect to go into it disliking some features an liking others

Never in my life have i been hyped for a game, yet i am for this, the only thing that will destroy it is absurd system specs for pc

The thing that excites me most about this game is the possibility of still seeing new content/dialogue after 20 play throughs, what with all the different world states you can hopefully import through the keep

I haven't mocked anyone, I've said that I don't like certain threads because of it, I haven't named any names, or called anyone out. I have not said that I lost faith in BioWare, I said that I am hesitant about this game.

How does Grace being poorly written have anything to do with a rushed schedule?

How would it not?

With an insane schedule you don't have much time for doing things like:

Editing your writing.

Adding additional material to flesh out characters among other things.

Or creating alternative content for different choices.

It's been the opposite for me! I was originally rather indifferent to all the reveals, but I've been steadily liking everything/everyone more and more.

If you really aren't excited anymore right now, then just take a break. Then come back when the game is out and see if the excitement's back. That's what I usually do when that sort of thing happens to me. 'cause if you aren't excited for it, then there is no reason to specifically wait for it, really.

As for the characters, I wouldn't be so quick to judge. Back when, I read some character bios before playing Origins. I thought Leliana sounded amazing and Alistair absolutely unspectacular. Then I played it and ended up really liking Alistair and faintly disliking Leliana. So, personally I'm going to hold off until I actually see how they are ingame.

I found myself super-hyped when we 1st started getting information about DA:I. Now I find myself being influenced by other people's opinions (mostly pointing out bad writing (such as the character quotes) or aspects of the game that are missing/different.

But i'm pretty sure once the romances and specializations are announced, i'll stop my info-gathering and just wait till the release.

Not me. Polar opposite. The more they release the more excited I get, which sucks, because October 10th (the day it comes out in NZ) also happens to be exactly the day my end of year exams start.

Holy crap! Another New Zealander on here :D

There's still so much they can reveal, and the game itself isn't that far away either!

Man, I wish I was getting less excited as time went on. I have gone from 'excited' to 'ludicrously excited' to 'babbling about DAI to everyone, including my parents who don't even play video games.' And now we got a huge information flood from the Raptr Q&A I may escalate to 'can't sleep until after October.'

OP, I'm the total opposite. When it goes for too long and I haven't heard much DAI info, I tend to forget about the game, avoid the forums, ignore my group chats, and I even become immersed in other video games. Every time they reveal vital information I get *so* SO excited! I can't wait for this game. Every time I learn something new, I am stoked. It's going to be one hell of a game from my favorite franchise, ever!

Also - I'll be honest: The only thing that dulls my excitement is coming to the forums and reading page after page of mindnumbing critiques and complaints. It's like trying to be excited about a special holiday, but someone is standing on their soapbox bullet listing every reason why this holiday is flawed, forcing disillusionment down everyone's collective throats.

THAT is a killjoy.

I'm too interested in what happens next in this setting to have any dwindling interest. I'm hooked on the lore first.

I'm far too invested in this franchise for a myriad of reasons for my excitement to drop.  If anything, the more things they show, the more excited and in love with Inquisition I get (and the prospects of our DA franchise future).  My condolences to those that find this game isn't for them, or isn't really resonating with them.

Indeed. It gets to a point where I read through threads that pick apart not just characters I love, but the writers who invented them, and then the franchise as an entirety and it's like... wow... I have to take a step back and get some fresh air. It's pungent in here with the smell of trash talking. lol.
