Alistair is officially elf-blooded.

If you read DA:the calling, you find out King Maric slept with a female elven mage named Fiona. This produced a child born in the same year Alistair was born. This confirms that child is Alistair. Also, he is half Orlesian.

This was in the raptr q&a session where every writer and most of the dev team were answering questions. They would not say anything like this unless everyone on the writing team agreed on the fact.
