No people are upset because alot of stuff in DAO is now pointless along with Alistair becoming too close to a Sue and being a balant writer pet.

Dragon blood, mother is a ex warden who cured her taint and was leader oft he mages, a grey warden, has templar powers, is possible king...

Funny, if any of our video game PCs end up settling down and having kids, won't the children also have parents that are this whatever super person with that special power and ability that has forged legends as they did whatever it was they did?

He's close, but because of those fates he's not a sue, he is however a writers pet and that can not be argued.

Okay.  I'm not sure what the huge deal about this is.  However, for those that claimed that the writers changed Alistair, he was probably written that way from the beginning.  I'm not too surprised he was lied to about his mother.  It's probably less of a scandal if Maric had banged the washer than him banging an elven mage.   So they lied about it.  Big whoop.

I don't mind Alistair being Fiona's kid (and I would love a suitably dramatic reunion) but I'm exasperated that we found out like this. And that conversation with Loghain in DAO now makes no sense whatsoever. I guess that means that he didn't know who Al's mother was, but it just seems weird all round.

He is a writer's pet. I mean cmon the most competent version of him couldn't just be left competent instead he had to get a few more special snowflake traits. Hell even Gaider tried to lampshade this by having Varric call him something along the lines of a "special snowflake" in the comic.

Which is, of course, why I said "if." Not every superhero has a family. Or maybe they adopt some orphans. Point is that it's not unheard of for important people to have babies, and whether that was the heroes of a generation ago or the ones some players will imagine their PCs producing, there's a lot of people in fantasy world running around with a hero mum or a royal dad.

Ehh......I could definiately be wrong, but I'd guess its more of a case where DA:O's other plot holes/very, very faulty plot lines come in where some plots kinda got mixed as a result of Origins being in development for so long.

 

Example: Loghain ordering Jowan to poison eamon in the time between the mage origin and ostagar,  Plenty of actions that accounted for Loghain planning on killing Cailan when the plot thread was abandoned due to the Cailan/Celene plot thread having a lot removed, etc.
