I don't mind Alistair being Fiona's kid (and I would love a suitably dramatic reunion) but I'm exasperated that we found out like this. And that conversation with Loghain in DAO now makes no sense whatsoever. I guess that means that he didn't know who Al's mother was, but it just seems weird all round.

The fact that he stated Rowan was alive when Alistair was born when she was not already covered that.

tbh I wouldn't be shocked if she did survive, however her as a romance option is... eh...

Well I wouldn't be shocked, just find it bs

I always believed him to be Fiona's son and that's fine, you know I love him, the "Dragon Blood" thing is what was a bit far fetched for me

I can hear you about the Dragon Blood, but now everyone is up in arms because Maric shagged an elf mage instead of a washer.

I'm getting the impression that elf blood makes him "more of a writer's pet," unless folks are complaining yet again about Fiona.  Otherwise, it's a thing, and a part of his character all along.  I see a lot of complaining over a tiny detail that may or may not impact the game.

How could it possibly have been unexpected?

People don't like when consistency is screwed up. Everything with Goldana, alot of Loghains dialog about Alistair and Eamons stuff with Alistair is now ruined and pointless.

I hope Father Kolgrim was his half brother.

I enjoy the fact that a dude with elven and mage blood - in other words, an absolute pariah as far as most of Thedas is concerned -  is a king in my playthrough. Of course no one in Thedas will ever know that, but I can chuckle about it as a player.

Which is, of course, why I said "if." Not every superhero has a family. Or maybe they adopt some orphans. Point is that it's not unheard of for important people to have babies, and whether that was the heroes of a generation ago or the ones some players will imagine their PCs producing, there's a lot of people in fantasy world running around with a hero mum or a royal dad.

I've already listed the stuff Alistair has and how his rap sheet gets bigger and stupider with Fiona has his mother.

Goldanna came pre-ruined and -pointless for our convenience. As for Loghain's dialogue... dialogue like what, exactly? I certainly recall none of it that this screws.

Loghains dialog about Alistair was never consistent.

The dragon's blood and the stupid possibility that he might not have to go through The Calling mixed with the elven heritage makes him a writer's pet in my eyes.

who the heck cares anymore....  the most we will get out of allistair in future games is a cameo where he pops in and says swooping is bad and pops out.  Hes not gonna be a companion again and shouldnt have any major impact on any future story.

My elf warden would be dancing in the street about this.

Ooh, he's potentially immune to the Calling? Maybe I should rethink letting Loghain survive... perhaps Alistair should be closer to the center of my ideas than I previously thought.

Why?

Added, their is more theories around Maric and his spawn with Morrigan being theorized to be onr

How could it possibly have been unexpected?

Might. Leliana probably still would have won, but I would enjoy romancing a mage...

I am at a loss. I thought that quote was obvious. Maybe I'm getting old.

Eh.  Plenty of noble families have mage blood in it.  I don't think too many people really care about it as long as you're not a mage yourself.

Don't forget, many hate Fiona and have dubbed her a "writer's pet" as well. It was already pretty obvious he was her son so I'm not sure why it's a big shocker.

I admit, if it turns out he's simply immune to the Calling, I'd be slightly annoyed, since the Warden, who is twice the warrior he'd ever be, gets the short end of the stick, yet again. Here's to hoping that crazy Avernus whipped up something special.

Unless I'm in a lotus eater machine and dreaming all this, that does seem to be the most likely circumstance.

It would make sense though since Fiona was as well. It wouldn't be so far fetched.

Not at all. The dragon's blood deal was all about his family line. It was already stated his family was special lore wise. Being elf blooded mean nothing really.

Fiona was cured of her Calling. Perhaps some think Alistair may be, too, because he was conceived around the same time.

It's not so much the matter of whether or not it's far-fetched (a concept that I don't really take too seriously in a fantasy epic like Dragon Age), but just that sometimes Alistair's character can leave me a tad bitter with how he romanticizes the order, only for him to get a Get-Out-Of-Darkspawn-Free card.
