They're pretty much just a bunch of smug arrogant idiots

Ah, excuse me, what are they suppose to be? To humans, precisely? Are they suppose to forgive and forget? While humans destroyed their society, almost wiped them out of the Thedas and enslaved the rest? And they what, suppose to be friendly, understanding and willing to frolic with humans?

Are you f kidding?

Calling the dalish arrogant is like calling Fenris a "hater for no reason".

I really would like to know how Tevinter justifies their crimes in the present against the Elves in the past.

"Look we all were freaking high on Dragon fumes, we didn't know what the hell we were doing." lol

I don't think they have to justify anything, or that they even give it a thought. They simply don't care. It's not like it bothers them, and they don't give two figs about the rest of the world. It's like, Orlesians don't have a problem calling elves animals and using them... well, not as slaves as they're officially "servants" but it's still hardly pleasant. And no one cares either.

But since in DAI we will be dealing with Tevinters more closely and even have one at the party there's a chance we'll hear something about that at some point.

Humans. They're just not as fun for some reason.

I never got that far in the story with my human noble in origins. I got past Ostagar and then I pretty much... Stopped playing her. Did noble dwarf instead if I remember correctly...

I agree for the most part, but it's hard to justify Dalish arrogance and racism. They're making themselves just as bad as their punishers. Counter-racism (is that a new word?) is still racism :P

Yeah I'd love to play an elf in Inquisition. Mage elf/CE are my most played type in DAO.

But no I'm not playing a dalish. I just. NOPE. If we could play someone who was born to the dalish but later left I'd be on with it. But as that has a really low chance of happening my elf game has gone screaming into the wind.

As for the hating it cause it's popular discussion uh yeah that's every much a trend as the reverse. Just because less people do it doesn't suddenly not make it a trend. "It's popular so it sucks." is every bit as annoying to me as "well everyone else is doing it so..."

I could see someone simply going "well I want to play something different." but going on about how humans are "boring" (Nvm the fact that all humans aren't alike and the races you're praising so highly are somewhat based off different groups of humans.) is where you lose me cause it's ridiculous. You're saying somehow the Antivans, Orlesians, Fereldans, Rivani, Anderstrains/everyother major human culture in Thedas that I forgot (or however it's spelled) are all boring despite having vastly different cultures because they're all the same race. I just wat. You can dislike something and not sweep it under the boring brush. I do that with Quarians, dwarves and dalish all the time.

Men. Hairy as dwarves.
And as purple prose as elves.
Why do they not kiss?

Dwarves. Don't hate me, dwarf-lovers, don't hate me!

It's just that they're short and bulky and it's hard to immerse myself in them. I tried playing both dwarf origins in DA:O and neither really worked for me. I think it's also because their culture is so very separate from the rest of Thedas, considering how they keep to themselves do desperately.

I always play as a (female) human because I need to experience immersion and connect with the character and I'm unable to do that with a dwarf or an elf.

Same. That's why I always play Human Female for my first playthrough. Then afterwards I can experiment.

I don't mind Dwarves they're just not my preferred race to play as. Nor are elves. Humans and Qunari for my two main playthroughs.

I only play humans due to narcissistic self-projection into the game.

Dwarves. Particularly male dwarves. They all have big noses, and I just can't give my characters a big nose in good faith.

My second ever DA playthrough was a female dwarf commoner, and she was fun, but I would just rather playing one of the others. Especially elves.

I don't see how simply not liking humans and  not wanting to have anything with them, especially not wanting to get married or have children - can be considered racism. That is just absurd. They tolerate humans and that's good enough.

How the hell can they make themselves just as bad, it's not like they enslave humans, convert to their "faith" or trying to kill every one on sight. They just want them to stay away and leave them be. They have every right to.

Elves. Not my favorites in this series, and I'm not a fan of the origins we've had with them (but that may change one day!).

I always play as a man, and I'm not a fan of elven men, they're too wiry and thin for my taste. I like characters with a bit more meat on their bones.

That's quite interesting considering elves had the most variety in origin choice. What origin would make you want to play as an elf? Member of the qun? Tevinter slave? Tevinter magister? Crow?
