A race you don't like playing as?

I can't say there's a race I don't like playing as since all of the races are generally interesting in DA (even dwarves, who are usually little more than Tolkien tropes).

But I'll admit that when it comes to male characters, I favor the more attractive races (human and elf) while with female characters, I favor the more alien races.

With male characters, I favor good looking, model type characters (or somewhat gritty but still attractive), so I'm more apt to pick human or elf. The Qunari may be a hit or miss and look too beastly in the CC while dwarf males are probably my least favorite. Short, squatty and overly hairy are not attractive to me in the slightest. I'll still roll at least one male Adaar and Cadash, but with male characters I'll probably see more Trevelyans and Lavellans. Shallow I know, but points for honesty yes?

With female characters, I generally like the 'weird, alien' races. Most female characters in fantasy settings (especially LIs) tend to be human, so having a female character that is outside that trope fits well with me. I like what I saw with the female Qunari in the demo and I think fem-dwarves are sorely underrated. A short, badass woman slicing her way through bad guys a foot or taller than she is just awesome. (I think it really was Aimo that sold me on them). And female elves go without saying. I don't dislike female human characters (definitely will have at least one Fem Trevelyan), but I favor the other races more, especially since I'm less concerned about them looking 'hot' or 'pretty' since most CCs allow for good looking female characters regardless her race. Its usually the male CCs that I worry about (Divinity Original Sin, DC Universe, Champions Online, etc..., would be nice to make a male character that doesn't look like a square jawed action figure or hulking beast).

Will still have a character of each race/gender combo just because. B)

Well...we'll just have to agree to disagree.

Humans can be just as fun to play.  Humans don't have powerful abilities in real life.  They are NOT the same.   Its trendy to hate on humans so I do get what you are saying. I just disagree

Considering my post was never challenging your love of playing humans, this is strangely aggressive to me. I never said they weren't fun to play, I never said they were exactly like humans in real life. Fact is though, they LOOK exactly like humans in real life. Hence why they are humans. So, not interested. The things I like are cute horns, and cute pointy ears!

It's pretty rude to insinuate that someone doesn't like something because of a trend. Is it really THAT strange that when playing a fantasy race someone would want to be something vastly different that you need to make up and insert a strawman on them? You are literally trying to argue with people's opinions. Good luck with that.

Humans in the bioware games drive me up a wall to play, mainly because the guys are always top heavy and the ladies have this really hip wagging way of walking. Though in a forced choice like I had in DAII, I could only ever bring myself to play a lady Hawk because the human male mage did not look like any sort of mage that would work with a character I make in the games.

It's like looking at a those popsicles that are all square then with a skinny stick legs to me with those male models. Guh.

After that is the dwarves. Again it's mainly an anatomy issue for me, and I have never been a fan of dwarves in fantasy. Even with a strong lore in DA, their long arms always bugged the heck out of me more than the human bulk. And why the heck are the female dwarfs armed with such skinny arms?

elves especially in the dragon age world because they are just so pitiful it hurts

and dwarves because they are too small and fat to be badass in my opinion

I never understood how a fat dwarf with a long beard could get in bed with hotties like Leliana and Morrigan ?!?!

Humans are always cool for me and I'm interested in the Qunari race I think they can be fairly badass (see the Arishok)

I like all the races.

Why does everybody hate Dwarves? I love Dwarves.. The Dwarf Noble origin was best in my opinion, and going through the game as an Aeducan was awesome to me. Especially when you go back to Orzammar.

I love Dwarves and my main in DAO is a Dwarf who romanced Morrigan, but I have to agree with this. It always bothered me. haha

Elves.  No matter the setting, I've just never cared for them.

I'm also not a big fan of humans...I'm already one IRL, and they're just too bland and generic.  However, I'll default to playing one if none of the other options really interest me (such as in DAO).

I'll roll the odd dwarf character or two, but in general they don't really do anything for me, either.

All that being said, thank goodness for playable Qunari in DAI.

Id like to add that i do like playing humans in a fantasy game, because i like being the "normal thing" surrounded by the fantastical things.

It amplifies the fantasy for me.

Dwarves. I don't know why I don't like playing them. I just like the other options a lot better. I'm really tall in real life so that might be why. :P

I just can't get into playing as dwarves. I don't really care for the way the culture works and I'm not big on their appearances. Also I have a hard time not playing as a mage and dwarves dont have magic so theres that too. I normally play as a human when I have a choice.

Me too, might just roll a female dwarf if Varric is romanceable.

I don't like playing humans, can never finish playthroughs as one in DA:O. I also think the reason I can't seem to finish DA2 again is because I have to play human.

I find them boring.

qunari and elves ftw

Dwarves, like dozens of peeps have already said: it's very hard to make an attractive dwarf.

I've never seen one in game either.

Human or Elves (I will say that DA Elves are MUCH preferable to traditional fantasy trope *Super Special Snowflake* Elves <_< ).

I enjoy playing the "smaller" races ...(If only DA had Halflings)

I want to play as the human solely because I could name him "Alec" and make him look like 006.

Sean Bean? Then he has to die at the end!

Dwarves, the height difference is just a deal breaker for me, but I do like Dwarves as a race, their history/traditions and their architecture is fascinating. Would never romance a dwarf though, too awkward and I don't find them attractive.
