Male elves, the lack of facial hair and the really slim builds bother me a bit (I'm a hairy guy with a barrel chest, I may not have any extra fat but I could never be so.... skinny, as I am wider than most humans.) It's just really hard for me to play as a male elf because of that (and the insecurities that come with it).

TL;DR Elves.

See, that, I can really understand because it's pretty similar to this "ugh, I see these guys glorified a lot and they reflect some "standards" in real life I don't see myself adherring to, so why bother seeing it again in my personal escapism?", or something like that. And I'm speaking as someone whose favourite race to play are elves. But just saying that I get this reasoning a lot, particularly in other genres of storytelling and fictional narratives.

Male dwarves bore me.

Exactly! Whereas dwarves are stocky so I find them kin to me (that goes for males and females). That being said, the Qunari are the single race, that I can see myself really drawn to for a first playthrough, weird only because all of my previous firsts have been male human mages.

To be completely honest, humans. They're just so... average  :P

I don't like playing as male dwarfs. They're to bearded to my taste. And I don't like their body size. Although female dwarfs are quite cute.

In order of preference I would choose:

1. human

2. qunari

3. elves

4. dwarfs

I'm not a big fan of dwarves really.  I was really against Qunari when they first announced it, but the idea has grown on me a bit more since then, but yeah...hard to say if I'll like playing as one or not, till I try it.

Same, now I look forward to playing as a qunari.

My default is human.

I've never played as a dwarf and I don't plan on it, I tried playing as a dalish male elf but stopped not even half way, I played as a female city elf and actually liked it but I mostly play as male and female humans. I am going to play a female qunari in this in one play through though.

I've liked all of the original races in DAO. Not sure about Qunari yet. Large characters come off as overly dominant to me in the role of group leader (I happen to be tall myself though..nothing personally against it). I'd rather think of them like the "muscle" of the group. Like Thing in FF4.

Dwarves - Ugly as sin and boring as hell. There is a reason I love Varric, and its exactly because he is as un-dwarven as they come.

Elves - I tend find them horribly cliched and annoying, considering they either have that self inflated superior race thing going (Dalish, ugh) or tra la la, foresty one with nature crap (Dalish, bah)....so yeah, no Elves for me. Genocidal murder of elves (well, mostly Dalish really), yes. Playing one, no.

The Vassoth intrigue me, but no decisions made yet.

How are they cliched if they're marginalized? I thought that made the elves unique in Dragon Age. It was a breath of fresh air. They don't have much of anything. No cities, no treasures, lost history, lost language, lost stories, lost culture, and lost magic. Unlike D&D, Warcraft, LotR, TES, Warhammer, etc.. Cliche would mean repeating an old pattern. Which it's not.

Which is why I would most likely attempt an Inquisitor of City Elf origin, which sadly won't be available.

Even in DAO, despite the fact I still failed my 3000th attempt to play a non human PC, I can at least say I genuinely enjoyed the city elf origin. It was engaging, unique from a racial stand point considering the race in question and truth be told it was viscerally satisfying when I tore Vaughns (spelling?) head off.

The Dalish? Arrogant racist twats who are utterly full of themselves. Like I said if genocidal murder is an option in DAI, it will be taken an rained upon the Dalish.

So yeah, no elf play through for me.

Oh, I see then. I like CE and Dalish both, but I get your point about the Dalish (although I think their attitudes depends on the specific clan involved as well).

Of all the races I would say that the Elves are my least favourite race to play as. I am a bigger guy, and I just can't play such a slender race, it just doesn't gel with me, also the lack of facial hair options annoys me to no end, I always have beards or at least heavy stubble on any characters I create, and as that is not an option with elves I find it very hard to make a face for one that I like.

Also as a whole I find Elves to be a pretty boring race lore wise(though "The Masked Empire," really made me appreciate the elves a lot more, especially with characters like Felassan), but that is just my opinion, and the the Dalish elves while interesting at times, can get very boring very fast for me. The city elf origin was excellent story-wise and the characters were great, but I would rather play some of the other origins tbh.

I am more of a dwarf or qunari kind of guy. Humans are pretty meh to me, and would be a close second with the elves.

Dwarf, they're too short and can't do magic (mage is my favorite class).

A rat. In the Fade quests, in Origins, you had to turn in to a rat to fit down the little rat holes. Man I hated being a rat.

Elves are annoying as hell they are way too pitiful (City Elves) basically the servants of the humans (superior race anyway)

or they are racist assholes (Dalish)

Dwarves are cliche small with a big beard and are ugly as hell

I like Human and also Qunari quite a bit though

Elf, I have never liked Elves, don't play one in WoW, don't play one in Dragon Age, and when the option comes to let them all burn in DA:I, you can bet your bottom dollar they will die a fiery death.

I hope we can do this to the followers of the Qun, whatever race they are

I absolutely abhor humans in the Dragon Age Universe. Particularly Andrastian humans. They are pigheaded, selfish, monstrous creatures who revel in the destruction of others. Something must be done about them.

Most humans, sanctimonious Dalish elves, Caste-zealous dwarves (I pickpocketed each and every noble dick hole I could encounter), the philosophy of the Qun as a whole, but mostly followers of Andraste, the overzealous ones remind me too much of the WBC in real life (looking at you, Petrice)

I've never liked playing as dwarfs. They just look silly running around wielding weapons that are as long as they are tall.

Humans..

The only reason I did a noble human playthrough was so that my Warden could marry Alistair.

I was also bored with the mage storyline fairly quickly.
