Dwarf. If a game gives me a choice, I don't like to play as short/fat/slow characters. I prefer to play as characters I can make look cool - so elves, humans and maybe qunari, depends what the character creator in DAI is like. The whole point of gaming to me is to escape from my real life, so I want to play as a character I will enjoy so I only ever go dwarf if there is an achievement for it. In my real life I don't look cool. That is why I prefer to play characters I can make look good.

A rat. In the Fade quests, in Origins, you had to turn in to a rat to fit down the little rat holes. Man I hated being a rat.

HA! This made my day!

I personally enjoy playing as all of the races as they all bring a different perspective to the table, but if I were to pick which one I thought was the least interesting, I'd have to go with human. They're just the kinda generic.

You're not going to "burn all elves". lol.

Why do people even play these games if they want to completely dismantle the setting? I would think the more fun thing to do is make the world bigger. Not smaller.

Dwarves, because they can't use magic.

The Elven Rebellion is one of the main conflicts going on right now, so unless BioWare decides to completely forget that conflict exists, we will have a say in the outcome.  Since I personally find Elves to be useless, I will just burn the alienages, if the Empress can do that, I figure I should have the choice to do that as well.

So yes I will "burn all elves".

Now if BioWare decides that in Inquisition they don't want to end Elves vs Humans and they want to prolong that conflict in future games, then I guess I will be restricted in my elf killing ways by the game story, still though in every single Elf vs Human conflict I will take the human side, perhaps even with Sera in my party so when she tries to stand up to me, I will flay her alive(and yes I'm well aware that the "flaying" option won't be available, I'll just throw a fireball at her face it ends the same way).

If they want these things done, it'll be done by the writer's themselves. These aren't open world sandboxes. When they move huge world changing plots forward, it's either in a book (like Briala's unlocking the Eluvian) or railroading a game outcome (Kirkwall rebellion, ending the 5th blight). If they left it all up to us, then it'd become unmanageable. You'd have millions of players with entirely different worlds.

Humans, its mundane and  a bore. Play them alot in videogames, I like different so playing as a non human is most exiting to me. But elves would follow next since they look like humans with pointy ears

None, actually.  I've tried all the races and so far, there isn't one that I didn't enjoy.  I preferred dwarves in Origins, but I can't say I lack enjoyment out of any race I played.  :)

I just cant understand the people who say they dont want to play as a certain race just because they dont like how they look.

To these people i have a sincere question. If these were the only race/es you could play as,would you skip the game?

Or even better:

Say there was a game that everyone, critics and todays jaded gamers alike, agree has the very best and most interesting story, characters, world, themes and best executed branching paths and consequences in gaming history ,but the protagonist ,who gets just as much face-time as your average Bioware protagonist,is the single most ugly person you could imagine;would you refuse to play it?And if yes,why exactly ?

Since i dont want to get this thread too much off-topic,i would appreaciate it if you could PM me about this if you have the time,im genuinely curious.

If they can't manage it then they shouldn't release a game with 3 major conflicts(Mages vs Templars, Elves vs Humans, and the Orlesian Civil War) and last but not least throw in the bloody apocalypse.

If they don't allow us the player to make choices in these conflicts that lead to their end, why even create these conflicts in the first place?

Similar to what BioWare did with Mass Effect 3, so many major conflicts within one massive conflict, and we end up getting either a prequel or a predetermined setting in the next game.

Hrm, usually in fantasy games it's Humans but in Dragon Age? Elves, I feel little to no connection with them in any way, culturally, aesthetically, nothing. IRL I'm slightly shorter than average, with a bit of fluff and glorious facial hair than must remain shaved since I'm in the military. So skinny and unbearded wimps who even Flemeth says need to not bend their knee so quickly? Nope, not for me. Also specifically for Inquisition, it just doesn't make sense to me that a Dalish would join the Inquisition-at first at least, it's started by Leliana and Cassandra the left and right hands of the Divine respectfully so I've always seen as Chantry-influenced.

I've enjoyed all three multiple times in Origins, so none. That's always prone to change according to the context presented by Inquisition, however. If a certain species does not make sense to me as the Inquisitor (this would, of course, be decided after playing through the game), I'll probably avoid having a character pertaining to it.

If I had to chose one, I'd say dwarves. Although I love all the dwarves we've met in the games. I just don't like playing a short character.

I heard that something like only 5% of DA players choose dwarf at all, ever.

They're all good but in order so far it's been Dwarf as my favorite, then elf, then human. I'm guessing qunari will either match or just beat out elves.

BioWare fans are super  tolerant...unless your short, stocky and "ugly." Then you can just **** off, apprarently.

Dwarves are my favorite fantasy race, but I am kinda bummed they can't be mages; I played about of a third of the way through DAO on dwarf characters twice and absolutely loved both origins and all the banter involving them--the problem was that the sword/shield combat in DAO is quite boring, so my canon Warden ended up being a Human Mage (Male). I did include a big beard as a homage toward my lost dwarven brethren, and I'm thrilled my favorite race will be more viable this time around for me.

Anyway, Elves are my least favorite race.

I usually hate playing as Elves and Dwarves.

Elves are too tiny and scrawny for me.

Dwarves hit the magical spot in height where I hate it (I don't have any such problem playing a goblin or gnome).

So Qunari or Human it will be for me.

As much as I support them in-game, I personally don't enjoy playing as elves in many media this being one of them.

I don't particularly enjoy playing as a dwarf - however, the Dwarf Noble origin was my 3rd favourite (after Human Noble and then City Elf).

I thought I wouldn't play a dwarf in Inquisition but after remembering that ^ I may convince myself to.

However, out of the 4 races available, they are my least favourite at the moment.

I cannot see myself ever playing as a Qunari.
