Josephine>Cullen>Leliana

It's really how I play, if they undermine my mercy and offer for a diplomatic solution, they will face my blade. Spying and bending is a last resort kind of thing for me.

It depends on the game and if they convince me their goals support my objectives. If they don't, I hope the game has a way of them coming up with why X needs to be done.

Depends on the type of character I'm rolling.

Considering I usually go for a very persuasive character that likes to talk their way out of things or handle them discreetly, I can probably see Josephine or Leliana's solution being taken more often. The exception is anything involving a grand seige battle or protecting a fort. Cullen's my man for that job.

Mage Trevelyan - Probably Josephine. Trevelyan will want to settle disputes peacefully and with minimal bloodshed whenever possible.

Rogue Lavellan - Aggressively pro-Dalish, and doesn't really give a damn about any other cause. Enjoys bloodshed, so probably Cullen or Leliana.

Warrior Adaar - Sarcastic and doesn't have a strong sense of purpose or duty to the Inquisition. Just along for the ride. Will probably side with whomever makes the best argument... or whomever makes the argument that sounds like the most fun.

seen as how an inquisition should probably know a few secrets, I'll be a subterfuge kind of guy. So Leliana but if she spouts one line of "maker this maker that" at my character he'll never listen to anything she has to say ever again.

It's gonna vary from situation to situation for me and what plan looks best.

Whoever makes the best argument for a certain situation even though I will find it hard not to have a bias towards senpai Leliana!  :P

If I picture each situation as a room with no doors or windows, I let each of my advisors build a neat, well-defined door with their advice. Then, when they all think they have my choices nicely well-defined and that I must act in a manner they have chosen ... I build a window and climb out by making up my own mind on what I will do using some, all or none of their advice to do it. That's what a leader does.

However, since this a video game, I'll probably see what each has to say and decide based on the situation at hand.

Do I really need to listen to one more often than the others? Can't I use all three to solve one situation?

For instance, I could use Leliana to discover my enemies' strength and weaknesses, use Cullen to target said weaknesses and then send in Josephine to negotiate a surrender that is benefitial to the Inquisition.

Probably listen to Cullen more when it comes to the mages and Templars.

Leliana when it comes to other groups like the Wardens and Carta.

Josephine when dealing with locals, barons, merchant guilds, and such.

Probably end up listening to Leliana the most in first playthrough.

Depends on whose plan sounds best in each situation.

But, what the heck; Cullen.

Cullen.

Prefer military might over diplomacy and useless spy games.

As long as it doesn't cost me anything, Josephine. If they want my money and resources they can f*ck off, I'll use Leliana to bend them to my will or Cullen to slaughter them.

It's really going to depend on who I'm fighting. From the factions I know...

Red Templars - Cullen. Of all of them, he has the most experience in dealing with them, and they are violent and insane.

Venatori - Cullen. Who better to hunt mages than a templar?

Orlesians - Josephine. You need to out-manuever them

Ferelden - Josephine. They are infinitely approachable

Normal Templars - Leliana. According to what I read, most of the templars aren't insane, but they may not be able to be trusted, so we should keep a wary eye on them

Mages - Leliana. With all the demons around, skepticism is going to be prudent

Grey Wardens - Cullen. Without a Blight to combat, I doubt the Wardens will listen to entreaties about demons, and there isn't a whole lot else to learn
