She has 34 health? I really thought 31? That's also on my character sheet. :huh: I figured that if one hit is able to knock off 2/3rd (or, after recalculating, about half) of someone's HP, there is some huge damage over there. Completely chopped off might be a bit too severe (and would get me into way too many monthy python puns), hence why I considered that it might as well be broken. Perhaps it isn't, but hey, it's not like Bartha has had any medical education or much experience with broken limbs :lol: From what I've heard, adrenaline can sometimes make people with broken limbs able to function were they would not be in normal circumstances. The leg might be not completely fractured, but the muscles have had quite a beating as well, so yeah: it's severely going to decrease her mobility.

She's close to yielding anyway, so a bit of a broken morale popping up makes sense to me. And teasing around a bit, and than getting her behind handed to her big time at once... Yup, she got scared there :lol: Good thing that this is happening in an alternate universe...

Meetings... love them... *snore* Glad I don't have too many of those, usually. My manager does them for me, so I won't complain :lol: I spend most of my time at my desk, so I check the forum in between tasks.

And then Beldin stared in horror at what he had done. Maker, they were just sparring! He had no reason to hit her that hard.

"Maker's breath!" he swore, the vivid red splotches on his cheeks in stark contrast against his whey-pale face. "I didn't mean to hurt you!"

He knelt beside her to assess the damage.

"That's going to leave a mark, I'm afraid," he said, then bit his lip in remorse as he offered her a shoulder to pull herself up. "But I'll be buying your rounds forever if we don't get you patched up quick. I've heard that some mages know healing magic. I wonder if it works on dwarves...  But in any case, fists only next time, aye? I'm always up for a bit of a tumble."

His face went scarlet again as he realized what he had just said.

"For sparring practice, I mean!" he hastily ammended. "Maker, let's get you patched up quick."

{Yeah, that's the thing about warriors: they only get one chance per round of obtaining stunt points, but when they do, the damage adds up quick!}

{And that's why I like having a mixed up party :) The rogues can create more opportunities and do some crowd control by creating more SP, whilst the warriors can hit HARD and the mages can do just do everything: damage, crowd control and healing. But yeah… let’s do a brawl next time ;) No way Bartha can keep up otherwise unless she keeps on knocking Beldin prone or disarming him… }

Bartha’s fear diminished when she noticed that the look in Beldins eyes went from anger to horror. Apparently it wasn’t his intend to get onto her this hard. Despite the pain, she couldn’t help but smile when he kept on apologizing.

With the help of Beldin she got on her feet carefully, leaning onto him in order to avoid her injured leg. Her shoulder protested, but she did her best to ignore it. “Yes… perhaps a mage can help. Only one way to find out…” She noticed the blush on Beldins cheeks, and slowly started to realize what he had just said. With a cheeky smile, she said: “Hmm… if you got a hard-on for practicing, it might be best to use hands instead of weapons indeed. And I don’t mind a bit of a tumble either.” She couldn’t help but feeling her cheeks flush a bit too. ‘Maker’s breath… what am I saying?’

Enemy Target Selection

A lot of this is going to sound familiar to longtime tabletop players, especially those who played in large groups, but it probably doesn't hurt to go over it. Intelligent enemies tend to follow patterns, and even though your characters are all first level, they have all had *some* experience in combat, even if it was only as an observer. Unless you want to RP your character as totally naive - which is fine! - in which case, maybe you'd better skip this post. I won't dispute your right to make an inexperienced character, but if your character's experience exceeds your own, this might be helpful. Knowing the most likely target may help you assess threat better.

Combatants engaged in melee combat tend to finish off opponents before moving on. Unless a greater threat appears, they won't change targets until their existing target is dead or disabled. (Greater threat = the combatant just sustained more damage from a single attack than their previous opponent's average damage).

Ranged combatants tend to pick off weaker opponents (those they can kill in one hit), or they'll dogpile on whoever rang the dinner bell. They *may* go for a melee combatant who charges, but at that point, they may just switch to melee themselves.

Mages who are not engaged in melee combat will almost always go for whoever is currently generating the most hostility. If they have healing capabilities, they may elect to heal allies, but let's face it. Most of the people the party will face off against are criminals. That implies a degree of selfishness.

Defend Target

There may come a time when you wish to defend a particular ally. Mabari do this as default behavior. To do this, you may want to identify the target's biggest threat. Look at the enemies who have your defendable target listed as a potential target and check out your own target list for overlap. Using the criteria above, you can probably figure out who a particular character's biggest threat is.

For example, in the Windmill Encounter, if Laurelin wants to defend Mercuriel, his biggest threat is Archer 2. She's out of melee range for him, but he is a viable target for her Winter's Grasp. If she casts that, it will damage him more than his next biggest enemy's arrow.

AS ALWAYS, IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK! You are not making more work for me. You are making less.
