Off host too?
If the host isn't terribad.. yes.
Off host too?
I just tried playing as a pure melee Cabal; she's funny, but not terribly practical. Maybe someone else could do better with her than I could, but I tended to go down a LOT. On the other hand, you could teleport around like a monkey on cocaine. But balancing Focus, Dash, and Melee is a real challenge. I'm sure someone could do it, but not me.
If the host isn't terribad.. yes.
Yeah, I tried it. Not bad at all.
Although I find the range of Poison Strike to be a bit too short when I try to charge through a Ravager with goo, or (even worse) double Ravagers with goo.
I guess I should mention that I run Geth Scanner exclusively on this kit.. and take the Extra Grenade evo in Nightshade Blades (giving me 3). It really helps being able to aim at the 'red thing' when you're in a hurry because it's so damn fast paced, and your camera is getting jerked around constantly with the jumping and turning. Geth Scanner helps with the disorientation.. especially in Cerberus spawns full of smoke.
So that's why you had that in your build. Was wandering the purpose of that... and lol at the capn233 saying to that guy he was probably off by one digit in what build you were running. Gave me a good chuckle.
And gee, megabeast, you really that hooked on Geth Scanner these days that your even going to forgo Grenade Capacity?!! I mean, I now it still probably gives you an edge in them Dr.Feelgood epeen games with knowing where the spawns and enemies are, but... it's not always about the epeen.
The main issue I have with Biotic Focus is being locked out of Poison Strike for 3-4 seconds. If I need to pop focus.. 2/3 of the time I need to escape.. but I can't unless I dodge spam which prevents shield regen anyway. The other 1/3 of the time is DOT prevention.
This is why I skip biotic focus. I spent most of the time poison striking everything to worry about retreating. In one game today, I was staggered by three times consecutively and managed to avoid all damage by spamming poison strike. While I did not go through the animation, it did give me the I frames I needed.
Cabal is fun to play and I wonder how the double dash is. I'm going to try to get a friend to try it for me.
But the speed boost of biotic focus is another major plus about it. How else you going to get to spawns before anyone else?

Just a bonus?! ![]()
Anyways, input all the data in Kalence for them Blades, and you really don't lose that much power dmg in them at all going for that extra nade. if Kalence is correct? So even if going the Grenade capacity route, taking that extra nade is a good option for this power.
Also finally got this kit maxed. Love how all the Retaliation kits level up first too. Finally going to try her on Gold now in a new lobby, cause the first match with her on Silver everything died right away. Plus re-read your description on this build again and ... hmm, a Turian Ghost Harrier 7 joined... good, he left...
I really didn't have any success with this build so far at all. Nothing wrong with the build, just me. Guess the weapons I'm using are part to blame, due to having challenges done for all suggested ones... thought I'd try the Falcon due to easy priming... ended up with Valkyrie and no piercing mod. >_<
Gave this a run last night as a solo. She is a very busy character with the dash dash dodge melee biotic focus and blades combo.
I was basically using BF like AF and turning it on at the start of a wave and when I was closing at distance on enemies.
Fun kit and deadly although need to concentrate on using powers in synch with weapon fire. Leaving a Banshee or Brute to last and then zipping around them until they were poisoned to death was fun.
She has good sheilds, I frames and DR so perfect for the Power Amp . Off host might be a different story .
Really sucks that this kit seem even worse off host then the other Vanguards. Just found this out. I prime, with a proper weapon this time called Talon, get ready to dash, and... dash don't work, I go down... and I had enough of that. Wave one quit. So now I add this kit to "host only."
You can tell right away if the host is bad or not by putting a kick vote on someone in the lobby. If it takes a second or two to show up.. it's a bad host. If you're in game.. shoot your gun and go to an ammo box.. if it takes a second for the ammo to show up as full, bad host.
Wow, what wisdom!
I don't get why people want to use biotic focus 6a though. I mean, it gives you .5 seconds of invulnerability, but so does poison strike, plus 50% DR, does damage, and with a shorter cooldown too. Sure it restores your shields, but it doesn't restore your shield gate, so if anything starts shooting at you seriously you're just going to die anyway. Compare that to 6b, which gives you 20% DR and 7.5% movement speed which will prevent you from getting shield gated in the first place.
See the light, BSN! See the liiiiiight!
By the way, has anyone ever tried a biotic focus 6b, poison strike, melee build? With the right evolutions you'll get 101% DR in the open while meleeing, which is always fun.
Well, to be honest, I think *you* should see the light.
First of all, bolded part: seriously? And how exactly is that bonus going to prevent you from getting shieldgated? ![]()
Second, I might be wrong here since I haven't interested myself in the Cabal in a while, but I think PS does not grant 50% DR.
Third... DoT avoidance. Even if 6a allowed you to do just that (and it does much more), it would be well worth it over 20% DR and 7.5% movement bonus.

That's pretty weird, since PS's I-frames, like charge's ones, only last for as long as the animation lasts. So I would say what you experiences is not working as intended and is probably due to lag/bs/general stupidity from the game.

Haha nah, Dex wouldn't be able to put all those meaningful words together in a meaningful, although hardly agreeable, sentence ![]()
And here's another pro-tip, graal.

Actually, Poison Strike gives IF's for a bit before and after the animation. I've had it happen a load of times on-host where I'll hit poison strike, get staggered, take no damage, hit poison strike, get staggered, take no damage, repeat.
As for how it keeps you from being shieldgated...I've noticed that enemies targeting seems to be set for a specific speed of movement. If I'm playing a drell with adrenaline equipment, I won't get hit most of the time just by sprinting around fast.
And finally, DoT avoidance; if you've got a DoT on you, just poison strike. Each strike gives you nearly a second of invulnerability, plus the standard DR at the end of it. By the time you've double striked+DR wears off, the DoT will be gone. It's not like you need an enemy to strike, even. And if even that isn't enough, heavy melee after you're done. 50% DR from PS+50% HM DR + DR from BF makes you completely immune to damage.
It gives a .5s invincibility. ModMaker has all the stats for this.
I imagine this duration is so you don't die mid charge.
But if you do, you get stuck forever and have to quit the game
At least, that's how it was every time I played Cabal on Xbox. PC might have ways to recover, maybe I'll find out today
