Here, have some PM copypasta because I'm not going to write all this again.

On the plus side, I came up with a background for my Dalish Inquisitor. I fully expect it to be rendered unusable, but on the offchance it's not, I like it. It basically has me being the younger daughter of Danyla from Zathrian's clan, and one who competed to reach the position of First... but was only about 13 at the time and wound up losing to Lanaya. I can see my Inquisitor, Eiria, being angry by that, but learning from the experience that all elves are worth preserving, not just those with Dalish blood. However, she wound up going to another clan that needed more mages right before the werewolf attack, and only heard about everything that happened there from afar, including her older sister trying to hunt down Danyla's killer in Kirkwall. Additionally, I see her finding love with a Circle runaway mage (possibly one of the two options for the mage PC in DAO) who later got killed by templars.

She wants elven emancipation, but realizes that the Dalish are not the elves of Arlathan, and that any attempts to fully reconstruct (as opposed to learn from) the past are futile; as such, she's an avid seeker of mystical lore in all places, anything that might give the elves an edge over their myriad foes; however, as she winds up as head of the Inquisition somehow, she'll likely grow to become more politically outspoken.
Unlike Mahariel, who was only ever cautious towards the Chantry, Eiria always saw it as a likely foe and will be reluctant to join up with Cassandra and her crew at first, but will accept if she's put in charge. Assuming I use my Leliana romance save, Eiria would likely be quite surprised by Leliana's past relationship, but it might also be somewhat reassuring.

She values Dalish culture, but is willing to bend or break some of their rules if she finds it necessary or useful; i.e. her willingness to practice necromancy in defiance of the Dalish taboo against dealing with spirits. If anything, her end goal is something akin to what Hahren Paival mentioned in passing in the Dalish origin, about a time when the Dalish and city elves would band together and build something even greater than Arlathan. She also believes that the Quickening phenomenon needs to be studied, if possible, and a goal that few would consider likely is her desire to somehow find the prison of the Creators. But really, learning anything about the origins of the world or the Beyond or whatever would be helpful--learning anything at all about the distant past is, really.

Of course, the biggest question of all is whether to choose Sera, a fellow elf and a semi-representative of the city elves whose desire to uplift the downtrodden dovetails nicely with a lot of Eiria's own, or Vivienne, who... oh, wait, that wasn't such a big question at all when I put it like that. I've been trapped by my own logic despite my rather stronger physical attraction to Vivienne and that weird sense of intuition. I guess we'll have to see.

Oh, and Eiria is named after Eirias, a Welsh word meaning something like "glow" or "blaze," and was the name of a magic crystal sword in the The Dark Is Rising series that would spell victory or defeat for the Light depending on whether they acquired it or not.

As for what she looks like... haven't decided yet, I'll need to see the models. But probably dark-haired, as long as possible, and with one of the complex Elgar'nan vallaslin designs, the ones that cover half of the face.

Until I discover otherwise, I plan to play the Inquisitor as Fen'Harel with a loss of memory. I have always liked these kinds of displaced beings, be it Revan, Odin, Thor, etc.

The Inquisitor can be anything the Player desires to become; Fen'harel is supposedly a shifter that could travel either faction in the war. The Inquisitor has the ability to repair tears in the Veil; Fen'harel is the one that imprisoned both factions. Love it!

As for romance, game choices, I prefer to adapt to the RP environment, and allow the moments, situations, personalities, etc dictate my choices. The only real plans I have for my initial campaign is to travel with Cassandra, Varric, and most likely Solas as my A-Team.

I haven't fully decided yet on a lot of details, as we don't know much about the Inquisitor yet. It is possible that the Inquisitor is going to have some established backstory within the game, so I wouldn't want to come up with a head canon that might conflict with that. In fact I'm hoping the Inquisitor does have some backstory rather just being a blank slate.

As far as personality goes I'm going to aim for a severe Lawful Neutral type with my male human Inquisitor, very loosely based on Stannis Baratheon. His ultimate loyalty is going to lie with the realm rather than the factions inhabiting it, and he will have a laser-like focus on restoring order. Anyone who sows chaos or threatens the security of the realm, no matter how just or sympathetic their cause might otherwise be, can expect little mercy. Both rebelling mages and Templars that go beyond their mandate to abuse their charges, can expect to be dealt with ruthlessly. He'll be sympathetic towards the plight of elves and support their gaining equal rights as citizens within the nations of Thedas, but that sympathy will not extend to rioting or rebellion.

That isn't to say that he'll be completely without mercy. He may grant those sowing chaos an option to yield if they can be trusted to tow the line, and if allowing them to do so has an element of pragmatism in it, in somehow furthering his end goal. Each situation would be dealt with individually rather than having a set response. He will however refuse to choose sides between mages and Templars. The leaders among them most responsible for the chaos will die or be made tranquil, as will those responsible for the worst atrocities. Minor criminals, traitors, and apostates will be given an option to yield and return to their Towers, or die. The same will hold true for rioting or rebelling elves. The leaders will die, the rest will yield and serve the Inquisition or join their former leaders in death. Likewise humans abusing elves without provocation can expect similar treatment.

As far as the power struggle between Celene and Gaspard, I'm assuming he'd be loyal to Celene. From what I have heard it sounds like he'd be a lot more likely to support Celene's claim to the throne than Gaspard, as she seems to be the rightful Empress. He may even be fanatically loyal to her, but I'll have to see how she is presented in game. On that note *if* he is fanatically loyal to Celene it might impact his actions. For example if ordered by Celene to use a soft touch in a situation where he might normally be inclined to show little mercy, he would obey the Queen.

As for the romance option...I suppose Josephine. That is of course assuming that she doesn't isn't disapproving of every one of the Inquisitor's actions, and shoots him down.

Knowing so little about DA:I it's hard to have full plan for PC but I have base.

My PC is Female Dalish Elf. Her name will be Celebriana ( I like this name). Her appearance: silver short hair, grey eyes ( if posible), no tattos (if I will not find really nice looking). She will be ranger/assasin. She is interesting in a world and other races, she wants to know them better, theirs religions, legends, etc.She have also a good eye on a treasures. Celebriana thinks that everyone have right to live theirs way, and can't be punished becouse they have unusual skills, so she will be ratcher pro-mages. But if she will meet a bloodthirsty one he/she will pay for crimes, no doubt. In a war time she will be helpful and will try to save as many innocent ppl as she will able to no matter theirs race, but also she will be ready to sacrifice some for greater good ( well including herself). She is straight female and I don't see a partner for her in game so there will be no romance. Cullen is a human, and even Celebriana is not racist, she will not romance human, and if Solas is an option, he don't appeal to me, so I will imagine that she had someone special with her clan or something. She will want to bring a peace to the Thedas, so she could return to travel across a land and get knowledge about a world, and makes new friends. If possible she will left Inquisition after DA:I events.

copy and paste from another thread that I posted

Name: Elizabeth Nancy Trevelyn(ENT) This will be my canon character that I will use for mulitple playthroughs.

Class: Mage. most likely Knight Enchanter

Weapon: Staff that can used as a spear. Her staff is powerded by the souls of the ones she's killed. The more she kills, the more power her staff gains. Its also been rumored that when she uses her staff as a spear, it can leave an enemy impaled against the rock. On the top of her staff is an upside down skull that drips blood out of its sockets. If anyone else was to touch or try to use her staff, they would be poisoned and die a few moments later. And lastly, her right hand with 1 inch fingernails that are laced with poison that can rip through the flesh of the enemy.

Physical looks: She is a beauty with very long hair. The color of blood. With eyes that look like oceans and when in combat her eyes change color to a pure black. When she walks into a town or city, men and women stand in awe at her beauty.

Personality: She is evil. She has a black heart. When she wants something done, she will resort to any means necessary to get it done. She doesn't care about the consequences. She has one weakness. Children. Or at least that's if the stories are to be believed. One story that is being told is that several years ago, she saw 2 men beat up a child. She followed them back to their camp where over 30 men resided. During the night she was able to strip them naked , tie them all to the trees and pour oil on them. She took the leader and nailed him to an upside down cross. When the sun rose, all the men watched her skin their leader alive and burn his body. She then burned all the men with their screams being heard throughout the valley.

She went back to the child and noticed her parents were dead by the hands of the bandits. She dug two graves for her parents and then took her to the nearest town to be cared for. She gave the girl a small bag of gold coins. To this day, some believe she is still watching over the child.

Background: She's from a far away land where she learned her skills. She was banned from her land when her people realized her power was too great for them to handle. She ended up in Thedas where she thrived on killing. It was in Thedas where she crafted her staff to fit her needs. She doesn't use blood magic. She considers those that use blood magic as weak and pathetic

When she walks into cities, the air becomes cool, people lock themselves in their homes. They only know one thing. Death has arrived and he** follows her. Kings and Queens bow before her for they not challenge her power. Even the devil approaches her for advice. She will close the veil, but her ultimate goal is to rule Thedas.

Companions: She doesn't need any, but if she has them, she wants them all female. Not because she likes women, but because it gives the enemy a false sense of victory making them weak.

If I romance anyone, it might be Josephine

Markus Trevelyan

Born in Denerim, raised by his two noble parents Patriarch and Matriarch Trevelyan. He has an older brother who he looks up to and younger sister who he adores. After being trained as a warrior by his father, he aspired to go on grand adventures throughout Thedas. From blistering cold mountains of the Frostbacks to blazing deserts in Orlais or to tropical Jungles in Seheron, he wanted to experience it all. He's very noble, brave and kind. He is also head strong, charming and very persuasive. He is standing at 6 feet 2 inches and loves to display his stature by flexing :D He's a light medium brown with big, juicy lips, slight cheeks, min-afro temp hairstyle and very light goatee and mustache. As a warrior, he's proficient in sword and shield combat. Is a hopless romantic but loves to flirt with women for jest and fun(and for casual sex). Morally believe  everybody regardless of race deserves equal treatment and opportunity and believes in the Circle but with more freedom and rights. Believes in diplomacy backed by strong military might.

True, but it looks like from the Q&A we can have high hopes for character creation, so I am putting a lot of stock into that.

Name :- Tinesh Lavellan.

Description :- Male Dalish Elf Mage. He will be my canon Inquisitor

Specialization :- Either Necromancer or Rift Mage.

Weapon :- Either a Lightning Staff or a Spirit Staff with blade attachment for some close combat utility.

Physical Features :- Dark complexion with curly hair, thick eyebrows and transparent Vallaslin.

Personality :- He is a thinking and a rational person. He acts and does something only after he has thought it through. This act of thinking and strategics make him seem like a cold-hearted person when he is not. He acts in this fashion because magic and emotions are deeply intertwined and therefore he is of the opinion that control of one's emotion is essential. That does not mean he is dull, he can crack jokes and engage in lengthy conversations. He prefers diplomacy and subterfuge in order to accomplish his goals. The easiest way to imagine him is to imagine a scientific / scholarly type person who has a sense of humor. However, deep down, he is an introvert and as such, prefers to live and work in small groups as opposed to a large one.

He is of the opinion that the current existing system in the world are flawed, primarily because the world is changing and yet the systems and the people attached to the systems are unwilling to do so. Even though he is Dalish, he thinks that the Dalish are too clingy to their past, too pedestalizing and too glorifying of their past. Being a mage has taught him that nothing comes without a cost so the notion of a glorious Arlathan with immortal elves is clearly, in his viewpoint, skewed. Being the First to a Keeper, he spent most of his life studying magic and reading books about the world. However, since he is bound to his clan because he is the First, he could not venture out and actually explore the world. As such he has a huge thirst and desire to explore the world.

His downsides ? He is not an apologetic person. If he wants to say something, he says out directly. Having lived a life as a Dalish elf. he tends to be quite individualistic and not apologetic. He also enjoys reading and concocting chemical mixtures in his free time instead of getting drunk so this might not win him many brownie points in the socializing department. He also has no respect for customs or traditions. To him, there is either a logical way to do something or an efficient way to do something. Traditions and customs are optional extras that can and should be discarded should the needs arise.

Relationships :- He befriends people who are rational and/or responsible. People who want to get the job done quickly, efficiently and cleanly is the type of person he likes to be around. He is not a big fan of people who live in the moment and who cannot plan their way through something. He is a heterosexual male even though he would occasionally flirt with men just for the fun of it.

Love Interest :- Josephine Montilyet or Cassandra Pentaghast but leaning towards Josie.

Name: Albedo Lavellan

Basic Info: Male Dalish Elf Inquisitor, he will most definitely be my main.

Focus: Healing mostly and his specialization will be either Knight Enchanter or Rift Mage depending on which interests me more in the end.

Physical Traits: Silverish Whiteish hair ala Fenris (Which is why he was named Albedo, because of his hair), shorter cut since he's surprisingly OCD about almost everything despite being Dalish. He has a lean and slender build and has large blue/green eyes standing at 5'9. He's quite pale and he will most definitely have a black colored Vallaslin design on his face.

5 words to describe: Adventurous, Curious, Extroverted, Overconfident, and Charismatic.

Love Interest: He's going to be torn between Dorian and Iron Bull.

I have three..

Skye Adaar: Skye is qunari mage who was raised in Circle in the Orlais. Her birthname is unknown but other mages named her "Skye" after her blue eyes. Skye has always been intresting in healing, supporting magic and herbalism. She's is part of Libertarians and wants peacefully achieve mage freedom. She didn't always get along with other mages and templars in the circle but she was mostly left alone by them since they feared her as qunari. She's always optimistic and idealistic, to the point of naivety. Skye loves being outside (she hated being in trapped in the Cirle) and especially with the nature. She was in the big me with other libertarians.

Relationships with companions/advisors: Planned romance is Cullen (this will be challenge), most friendly with Solas and Cole. Doesn't see eye-to-eye with Vivienne.

Valpur Adaar: Valpur is qunari 2nd warrior. She has been raised outside of chantry by her parents who passed away when she was teenager. Valpur's name is finnish (as Valpuri I dropped "i" from the end) and it means: "lord of the fortress" or "salvation of the slain in battle". Valpur travels a lot around and works as a "sword-to-hire", similar to mercenary but she works alone and doesn't take every job. She's rather peaceful and friendly, likes to observe situations alot. Many are intimidated by her since she's qunari (with a big sword) though. Valpur uses dresses and skirts as battle outfit. She was in the big meeting as bodyguard.

Relationships with companions/advisors: No idea of romance, most friendly with Iron Bull and Varric. Clashes with Cass at the first but they come along in the end.

Tamarin Lavellan: Dalish rogue who uses both bow and knife. He's my little Napoleon.. oh wait Napoleon already was little.. He is quite selfish one and wants to achieve a lot in his life. This means conquering, ruling, owning etc. What he loves most is popularity though, he wants to be remembered and worshipped as hero and this is why he doesn't always do "bad" stuff. He's good to take advantage of things he has and he will use all aspects of Inquisition to get what he wants. He's both arrogant and self-doubting, moody, smart and quick with words.

Relationships with companions/advisors: He will romance Dorian, I think they both will be flashy and arrogant at times but he also shows his vulnerable size to him which he hides from rest. He will clash with Cullen, Sera and Cole I think.

I think I need to change these when more info comes but this is it so far.

Essentially anything and everything.

I ask only two things...

1. If your post contains triggers please put a warning at the top.  And...

2. Be respectful.

Most of this is going to change once the game comes out and we know what the actual backstories of our Inquisitors and the reasons for them being at the summit are, but here's what I've thought up so far:

Name: Delphine Trevelyan (may change to Amelie, or Leona if it turns out that the human Inquisitor is from Ferelden and not Orlais. I know Trevelyan is an English surname (which increases the chances of the human Quizzy being from Ferelden a little), but for some reason it just sounds more French Orlesian to me.)

Sex/Race/Class: Female human rogue (specialization wise, probably an artificer. Although if I could I'd choose to make her a bard.)

Appearance: No idea, but for some reason lately whenever I try to visualize her I end up picturing Natalie Dormer. This'll probably change once I can play with the character creator a bit. When I'm not picturing Natalie Dormer, I imagine that she's short, with curly strawberry-blonde hair, green eyes and freckles (which she covers up with make-up, she's a little vain). This will change once I can play with the CC.

Personality: If I had to describe Delphine in one word then it would be contradictory. Delphine is quiet, calculating and observant-- these traits are extremely useful in her occupation as a Bard. But at the same time, she's also impulsive, a little reckless and stubborn to a near stupid degree. For instance, when she becomes the Inquisitor, she has a bad habit of taking on intelligence jobs on her own rather than letting Leliana and her people handle them, often without telling anyone what she's doing or where she's going. As a result, this has landed her in some pretty bad (sometimes life-threatening) situations that could have otherwise been avoided. She's cocky too, and has a tendency to overestimate her own abilities (again, landing her in some really bad situations.) However, she's quick on her feet, and open-minded, compassionate and extremely loyal. While she knows how harsh and unkind the world can be (having experienced some of it first hand), she's still a little idealistic, and wants to help the Inquisition because she truly believes that they can make a difference and change things.

However, she has a hard time trusting and being intimate with people, partly in due to her upbringing, but also because of being a Bard. She's a very private person. While she wants to help the Inquisition, being the Inquisitor makes her deeply uncomfortable and vulnerable as it puts her in the limelight, and given her occupation she prefers and is used to working behind the scenes. However, she draws upon her training and puts on her "Inquisitor" face, which is professional, serious and charming. In front of people she trusts though, she's herself. She likes to tease and flirt and laugh, and really really likes being and staying alive, thank you very much. She can also seem a little silly at times. Vain, a little selfish. After the big boom happens and she comes out of the Fade, she stops sleeping as much, not wanting to spend more time in the Fade than she has to. Instead, she explores and climbs all over the Keep at night. Sometimes she does it a little drunk, just because she can. (Did I say she was reckless?)

Backstory: Delphine grew up in one of the poorer districts of Val Royeaux with her mother and younger brother. Her mother was a seamstress, offering her services to the working class--darning socks, fixing shirt collars and hems and the like, although occasionally she would be lucky enough to land a richer client. Delphine's mother would often sing or hum while she worked, and taught Delphine how to sing. When Delphine was 10 and her brother 7, he showed signs of magic (and by that, I mean he accidentally lit Delphine's hair on fire in public while they were arguing over a toy) and was taken away by the Chantry/Order. As a result, their mother fell into a deep depression and began to frequent taverns more and more often. Her mother was a devout Andrastian and had a lot of trouble reconciling her faith with the fact that her darling boy had turned out to be a mage. Delphine was a little too young to really understand faith and what having it (or not having it) would entail, but became jaded. She had been taught that mages were "bad" and that the Chantry and Templars were "good", and yet her little brother had also been "good" and yet the Chantry/Templars had taken him away. Because of this, Delphine does not consider herself to be particularly religious and is kind of conflicted. Finally, when Delphine was 13, her mother went to the tavern one night and never came back.

(Under spoilers because it's getting long. And also spoilers.)

Spoiler

I can't think of any other issues. To be honest, I've only just recently gotten into Dragon Age and I'm just catching up on everything I've missed the past 5 years or so. :S I've only just returned to the BSN, and have only just started DA2, but I've been spoiled on everything for ages anyway. So I know what happens.

EDIT: forgot to finish the spoiler tag. >.>
