Several times throughout the course of my game, I've gotten the scene where EDI and Joker tell me that the Reaper IFF is ready to be installed, and I better take the shuttle for the next mission. The Collector ambush and abduction is supposed to follow, but it never does. I get a black screen with the Galaxy Map music. If I hit a button, then I get to select my squad for the mission I've selected, and I can continue playing. I didn't think much of it the first four times or so it happened, but I want to head through the Omega 4 relay when I realized.... that's when the Collectors are supposed to ambush the Normandy and abduct the crew. 

 

Since the Collectors never ambush me, I can't continue on to the Omega 4 relay. I'm running out of side missions to do to get the cutscene to trigger again (I just did two N7 planet anomaly missions and the scene didn't trigger, so I'm a little worried). 

 

I'm not concerned about the crew's survival. I actually did the IFF mission super early on purpose. 

 

Anyone know what to do?

How many crewmembers have you recruited, how much have you talked to them, and how many loyalty missions have you done?

You have to have everybody recruited.

 

One time I tried not to pick up Thane, I completed everything but a few loyalty missions and conversations with certain crew(experimenting with game mechanics), and the game would not continue with the Collector abduction until I picked up Thane. I'm pretty sure this applies to Legion, Samara, and Tali as well.

This is false.  I've done the suicide mission without Thane or Miranda recruited.

Anyone know what to do? So? Did you find a solution? What? Where you able to do the suicide mission? ( i think you could) . Ypu know i have expierenced the black screen too. But the game continued with Joker telling whAt happened. And afther that i had acces to the suicide mission.

The Collector Ship mission will not trigger until you have 8 squad mates. Once that mission is done you can go to the Reaper right away. If there are any active loyalty missions or recruitment missions in your journal, the Abduction will not trigger until your journal is cleared, or you have completed 2 missions, whichever comes first.

 

As to why you are not getting the abduction, I'm afraid I don't know.

This is false.  I've done the suicide mission without Thane or Miranda recruited.

The suicide mission can be done without Thane.

 

How were you able to not recruit Miranda when she is already on the squad from the beginning?

 

The Collector Ship mission will not trigger until you have 8 squad mates. Once that mission is done you can go to the Reaper right away. If there are any active loyalty missions or recruitment missions in your journal, the Abduction will not trigger until your journal is cleared, or you have completed 2 missions, whichever comes first.

I have done a playthrough where I was able to do 3 missions before the abduction happened. It was a playthrough that only had 8 squadmates and no one was loyal.

What platform are you on OP?

 

It sounds familiar to a PS3 thing.
