Why haven't we seen the PC UI yet?

So far every gameplay video was played on console, or at least with a controller and console interface. Especially the UI bothers me. The radial menus, the big fonts and lists, plus no tooltips! If this gets transfered 1:1 to the PC version, then it will definetly be recommended to play this with a controller on PC.

Any news?

I thought the footage we've seen so far was PC footage, played by a console controller?

Something as minor as UI shouldn't bother you; that can easily change. I think.

All the footage shown so far was on PC...they're just using a gamepad.

All of the footage we've seen so far has been on a relatively high-end PC, played with an Xbox controller.

All footage shown is on PC with controller. They have said they'll show off the PC interface soon. Maybe it's not done yet and they are still finishing it up.

Like others have stated, the footage they've shown has indeed been on a PC. However, and this is just speculation on my part, they might be utilizing the controller interface as opposed to mouse and keyboard simply because for their main purpose of showing off visual aspects of the game, the controller interface is a bit less intrusive, ie: you don't have someone clicking all over the screen with a cursor. That's just my own reasoning though, I could be totally wrong.

Doubtful. A mouse pointer won't exactly obscure a large part of the screen, you know. There are a lot of reasons to use the gamepad interface. For starters, they'll want to showcase the console experience because it's simpler. Most of the demo is in third person on low difficulty with auto-target and no pausing. The nitty-gritty tactics stuff is absent. It's a short demo to showcase as much of the game's core features as possible in a limited time space. They also want to show the UI the bulk of their audience will be using -- more people will play on consoles than PC, for better or worse (mainly worse -- in fact, entirely worse). It also happens to be the interface which is the vastly more difficult of the two schemes to implement well.

Would love to see some combat gameplay of the PC version with mouse and keyboard and nightmare difficulty :)

From what I've heard PC controls haven't been finalized yet.

I really can't wait, i'm so happy they''re bringing the tactical overhead view to consoles as well, this mkaes me so happy since i'm switching from pc to ps4 becuase my pc isn't sexy enough to handle DAI's sass.

I hope they are not rushing the PC stuff. Don't want to finally get the game and find a major PC bug.

Boy I hope not, that's a UI designed for fun pads if I've ever seen one.

The UI changes if you're using a controller. They just haven't shown the Keyboard/Mouse UI yet.

Get used to it, is there like any AAA RPG in development left without at least controller first in mind. Even the Witcher 3 is showcased with controllers.

Has there been any mention of the more strategic type of gameplay making a return? I really like the combo of high difficult and pause-and-strategize.

Yeah this UI was very console like.: radial menus, Bright health bars remind me more of DAII than DAO.

I also wonder what happened with the close up camera during conversations. I understand that is was from alpha build and a lot might have changed since then.

Also, do bears (wildlife in general) replenish if we kill just some of them but not all ?

I wish they could show us the PC interface, how the menus look like, how the inventory looks like and so on. I was so used to the DAO menus.

Lets be clear on what defines a console UI

-large and in the action space, not on the edges. Look at Dark Souls - classic console UI design designed to be seen from 20 miles away.

-list menus. List menus everywhere!

-radial menus and no tool tips

-no grid menu

-lazy use of space. Put simply, console designers put less on the screen at any one time. They have vast swaths of screen space to abuse and they frequently do just that, allowing the UI to wander into the player's view. But...we're all playing on $1000 HD TVs, right? Not the vast majority of PC players. We can't afford that. The game has to display as much info in as little space as possible. A clear present day example is Divinity:Original Sin. A complex, interface heavy RPG that would be well nigh impossible with a game pad and HD TV.

I have never in my life used a gamepad... I'm not sure I know how.

I'm sure the PC UI will be fine, they will show it eventually.
