I hope so, they said we will go to the underground caverns so maybe. I hope we do quests like that in the picture and the other pictures.

I can imagine that an old God is actually behind all this - an uncorrupted one. Would make sense, if you think about it (Tevinter Involvement, mad People, Corypheus -> Grey Wardens etc.). An uncorrupted one. There also appeared a Dragon in very close Proximity to a Breach in the very first Trailer, almost looking like he came from there.

I love making up Theories.

Dragons are going to play a much bigger role in this game than they did in the previous titles... I have this theory that the Old Gods are actually "Dragon Mages" more specifically, "Somniari Dragons".

I wouldn't mind picking their brain. And then... picking their brain after that.

Well, the two remaining old gods are the dragons of Mystery and Night... they could be working together...

Fitting opponents for the Inquisition. Oh please be true, please be true, pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaase!

There are old gods, and bold gods - but very few old bold gods inquisitors.

- My personal creed.

I don't think that the Old Gods are inherently evil. Say what you will about Morrigan (you either love her or you hate her), she wouldn't go through with the Dark Ritual if it meant bringing about the Apocolypse. She clearly believes that, in their untainted form, the old gods are "worth preserving."

The only thing to support the contention that they are evil is Chantry dogma, which has already been proven on several occasions to be inaccurate or misleading.

Well, if we accept the claims that ancient Magisters could speak to the Old Gods; Corypheus seemed distressed when Dumat didn't answer; and we add to that the fact that rituals worshipping them involved human sacrifices, we could make a claim they are evil.

This is my theory, the old gods I think created the fade and so now they're getting rid of it, which is causing a lot of problemsXD it's unlikely but i think they're gray creatures, neither good nor bad. I also think that flemeth is the old god of mystery, she first the bill perfectlyXD so perhaps they're trying to help people but were portrayed in a bad light.

I think this game is really going to emphasize the Dragon in "DRAGON age" Dragons to slay (hopefully to tame as well) and Old Gods to kill.

Ugh. Please no.

First of all, there are only two Old Gods left (three if you include Morrigan's son), so it is unlikely that Inquisition will be replete with Old God killing.

Also, wouldn't that be the exact same plot as Origins? The fifth blight, after all, was led by an Archdemon, which is a tainted Old God. Been there, done that.

Killing actual dragons is an entirely different matter. Bioware has confirmed that there will be approximately twenty of those in game.

@MisterjB:

On the topic of the Old Gods and blood magic, all WoT has to say is the following:

The legendary Thalsian was the first Dreamer. It is said he communicated with and learned blood magic from the Old God Dumat after encountering him in visions of what is now assumed to be the Fade.

That leaves a bunch of questions unanswered:

  • First of all, is that even accurate? Did Thalsian actually communicate with Dumat, or another entity masquerading as an Old God. Did he just make the whole episode up?
  • If Dumat actually taught Thalsian blood magic, did he intend for the Tevinter magisters to use human sacrifice? It was demonstrated in Origins that you could be a blood mage without resorting to such practices (case in point, my Amell Warden).
  • Does Dumat speak for all of the Old Gods? Are some evil, some good?
  • Are they actually gods or merely extremely powerful creatures of the Fade?
  • Where do they reside? The ancient Tevinter magisters claim that the Old Gods lived in the Golden City. The Chantry, that it was the home of the Maker. Corypheus claims that it was already black when they set foot within the city.
  • Did the Old Gods lure the Tevinter magisters into the fade, or was it the Maker?
  • Who is the Maker? Is it possible that he is an Old God who has turned on his brethren, demanding that he be worshipped above all others? For a similar trope, see Battlestar's "One True God" vs. the Lords of Kobol.

The Chantry has just as much blood on its hands as the old Tevinter magisters. Between the innumerable Exalted Marches, the first Inquisition (which WoT refers to as a "reign of terror"), the genocide committed against the Dalish elves, and the execution of apostate mages throughout the centuries, I would say that their Maker has inspired an equal number of atrocities, if not more.

The plot of Origins was dealing with a Blight, killing Old gods doesnt conclude that they would be the same exact set up. Thats like saying all WW2 movies have the same exact story only because they end with beating the Nazi's.

With the whole fade aspect and the mark on our hand, it can open a whole new experience in killing one, i dont get how killing something twice automatically means they will be done in the same exact way.

There are so many directions they can go if an Old God is responsible, it doesnt need to end in a battle on a roof top in Denerim.

Different roads leading to the same destination. No thanks.

By that logic, that fact that we're saving Thedas again, should be "the same destination".

Can't really argue with that.

Look, I'm not trying to be a jackass here or shoot down your idea. We might very well end up fighting the Old Gods in Inquisition. I'm just saying that I'm not super thrilled about that because I prefer them to be left a mystery. Uncovering bits of lore about the Old Gods, the Fade, the Golden City, etc. interests me greatly, but I don't want a strobe light turned on them.

Kill off all of the Old Gods, and what do you have left? The Maker and the Chantry. Sounds pretty damn boring to me. I guess I just see the DA universe differently. For me, the Big Bad in Thedas isn't the Old Gods and blood magic - it's racism, religious intolerance, bigotry, and the status quo. Fighting a large, scary dragon just doesn't appeal to me.

I get you're point but you have to understand these results dont conclude one thing or another, you're making the assumption that without these two Old Gods, nothing else related to them can become a plot line, one revolving around Flemeth for example can be a major plot line.

Yes there is more to DA than the "big bads" but something on this scale implies that someone of immense power is behind it such as an Old God. Id feel a bit cheated if it ended up just being a power hungry mage with knowledge of how to tear the veil open. Its nothing spectacular or satisfying. While the destination may be a "Big Bad" the journey there is made up of the racism, intolerance, and bigotry that you seek, thats always how its been

Fair enough. Amid all of the character reveals and info dumping recently, I kind of forgot about Flemeth hehe.

One item which I found interesting was the announcement that "It is possible for the demons to win the war." I suppose that is one of the completely unique endings.
