I was a bit concerned whenever I kept having to use renegade interrupts and was left hoping that it wasn't actually increasing my renegade score but I couldn't help but continue. I'm not sure if it was intentional but I thought whoever created that scene did a wonderful job with the different points of view helping to encourage the player. Shepeard's movements also did a lot to imply a lot of effort.

I was surprised when I actually had to use 183 interrupts. At first I figured we'd need to use 20-40 and then Shepeard would auto win. By the time I reached 100+ interrupts I was getting paranoid that I would hit the wrong button or not respond fast enough. It was also a bit of a test of my patience but seeing Shepeard put in the effort kept me going. In the end I found it amusing enough that I felt the need to comment.

I just wish that it also came with a bonus such as a 5% increase to melee damage.

Being able to play quasar again was a lot of fun as well and I had a lot of fun in the arena. I hope that in the next Mass Effect the developers remember that grim and dark 100% of the time doesn't do it for everyone. To borrow from another fun bioware game. “We must seize moments of levity especially in dark times.” Or Irving said something along those lines.

Did you also beat James' high score at the arena?

I'm not certain. I got the break the score board achievement so that I could get the phantom armor. It feels a bit strange to be in Cerberus armor but the stats are wonderful. Is that what you're talking about? Now I didn't bother much with relay defense I believe was the name. You're firing missiles at Turian ships on a grid. Plus there is one more game I didn't feel like playing.

I wonder if the game across from relay defender might be the one you're talking about.

I am wondering though. Is there any trick to winning the Varren racing game?

Well, if you broke the scoreboard at the armax arena then you beat James' high score. He should send you an e-mail about it. i always find it kind of fun to put James in his place, heh.

Not sure about the Varren races. The few times I've played it I've never won anything on it.

The payoff for breaking Jame's pull up record is precisely nothing. I was so disappointed I never bothered even doing one pull up after that.

There is an owner there that you can talk to, at least during the mission at the casino.  I think his varren is supposed to have a slightly higher chance of winning.

I have won the race a couple times.  Like most gambling you can easily lose more many than you make.

I've won once. I admit I had hoped it'd be a bit more like chocobo racing from Final fantasy 7. That one win was amusing of course. If you haven't played FF7 you have a sprint option that you control. However, sprinting causes fatigue. You need to pick the right time to sprint and when to hold back. I agree the fan mail was really amusing as well. The ones from the organization that was similar to the make a wish foundation were really delightful.

What did you think whenever you helped them solve the arena bug? The event where you're suddenly attacked by top end reapers, collectors, geth and Cerberus? I don't think I've ever wanted to hijack a Cerberus mech more.

The payoff is beating his high record. I would have liked a bonus but the dialogue, site of Shepeard pushing herself and the win are enough for me to enjoy the little event.

I had satisfaction in that I stuck with it long enough to beat the record. I didn't need more... My personal hand pumps were enough.

My horrible compulsion to complete everything compels me to beat his record. I always max out the score at the Arena too, though that's actually pretty easy to very quickly once you unlock the modifiers. After that, it's just an endless stream of credits. But honestly, Vega's reaction is nothing substantial, but it's enough to be satisfying. The virtual kudos is fun, to me anyway.

I've only ever played through the arena long enough to to break the scoreboard and finish all the e-mail requests and challenges. No stupid jellyfish is gonna accuse me of cheating.  :D

This. Plus they captured shep's expression of 'Crap, I can't lift my arms' perfectly.

I can only do 10-20 pullups.. (IRL)

Actually, that's not too bad.

Oh yeah, Vega and Shepard are superhuman.

Most disappointing moment in the game.

I figured I'd get something awesome for wasting so much time. NOTHING.

Did it once, will never do so again.

I was thinking the same thing at first. I didn't use any renegade interrupts and got annoyed that I couldn't get anywhere. Until I realised it was just rhythm. Was quite amusing after :D

I did it just to see if they really expected me to actually do it that many times ... and they did! Then the reaction was so priceless that I decided that of my four Sheps, I have two that would plausibly do it just to bust James down a notch or two.

I just saw Jack's pet a little while ago. That and as my Shepeard is a spacer I got to listen to the conversation with her mother. I know that the Citadel DLC is meant to be fan service, or i believe it was I may be wrong, but that part choked me up a bit. Heck it got more emotion out of me then the ending. It was just so sweet.

I also chuckled a bit when Jack's pet used a biotic attack on Shepeard. It left me wondering how Urze made out on the krogan home world. If that's one of the things we're suppose to decide for ourselves I choose to believe he survived the fighting and sired a pack of exceptional varen that were eventually uplifted by catalyst Shepeard.

I've been meaning to make a video setting my Shepard beating James' pull-up record to Eye of the Tiger

That does seem like appropriate music. I'm still amused when I think they actually expected us to use 183 interrupts and the way Shepard's expression showed effort throughout.

Though the pure gamer in me wishes that having the right abilities from the fitness ability would have made it easier. Surely increasing your hitting power by 60% means you're a bit stronger.

Seemingly I did not give the dlc the proper go over because I have no clue what you people are talking about.

After Vega shows off his tattoo, he spots shep's punching bag when he's leaving. When you go over to talk to him again you can start doing pull-ups, and he mentions his record is 182.

Once you invite James over he'll notice your punching bag and want to use it as he leaves. Shepard can use the pullup bar at which point James tells you that his record is 182. Shepard can try to beat it.

Spork beat me to it.

And some of us hear that number and go:

"Alright, lets do this", expecting a really cool conversation, an upgrade or I dunno, something awesome.

But noooo. 183 pull ups later, you feel kinda screwed over.

Nah, I thought it was good. They had some good banter back and forth for a little while. Some of shep's animations were a little tedious to look at... but I've come to the conclusion that you gotta think of it as part of a whole string of things, which when put together is kinda cool. I mean, first it's the pull-ups, then beating Vega's high-score at Armax Arena, then he loses the bioti-ball bet. Shep beats him at everything.
