So am I the only one that remembers they said it doesn't go completely extinct and that population grows back if you stop murdering everything you see? I mean you can wipe out 'all the bears' around Redcliff, but if you come back like 40 hours... betcha you'll find bears again.
Bioware, I don't know & idc why you put animal extinction in DAI, but know this. For exp, I will kill every hostile in every entire location.

Nope I remember that too.
I also tend to only fight animals that actively attack me anyway though so it depends how aggressive they are really.

Uh... achievement award for being an animal slayer?
I really hope they do, I also hope they have another achievement just for killing a certain amount of nugs. It could be the I beat Cameron Lee trophy for destroying more then he did. The fan tears would be amazing

I approve of this topic. I killed everything I could in the first two games for the same reason.

Thats the point, I want to reach level cap early in the game so I can be the best, and enjoy my beastliness throughout my game experience. Not be weak enough to miss other content.
There will be diminishing returns for farming the same animal. At level 3, killing a bear is impressive. At level 20, I expect you get 1 xp for it.

I can already see it now...
Inquisitor: "I don't give a damn about your bleeding fade rift Cassandra! My duty and my duty alone is to kill every animal out there that I see, only then will I become a legend!
I am the Inquisitor! Slayer of animals!"
Demon 1: "Oh ****! There's The Inquisitor, slayer of bunnies!"
Demon 2: "What sick bastard would hunt all bunnies of the world to extinction?"
Demon 1: "A truly sick mother fucker, that's who. Let's get out of here!"
That filthy peasant farmer from Dragon Age: Origins in Lothering: "Hey Grey Warden, don't suppose you know how to brew poison? I've got a rat infestation in my basement."
Inquisitor: "Did someone say...rat infestation? That's my favorite type of quest! Move aside GAY Warden lol and go to your little blight and let real men handle real problems!"
I bet this Inquisitor would look like this as well:

He'd be a mix between Bear Grylls and John Locke from Lost combined with the temper of Gorden Ramsey.

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a trophy/achievement for killing all the animals in Thedas.

You can put wolves after bears, or Templars after mages, it really doesn't matter, I will kill everything with a red mark of hostility over it's head for exp.
I will be the strongest.
And after I killed everything (I will), what will you do then?
Then shall we be the greatest of creation's children. We shall be... Perfect"

I used to kill off everything that moves in every game, too - for the xp and for the heck of it. Anyway, then games reached a point where animals got too "realistic" for my taste ... or I got more sensitive ... and now, honestly, one of my favourite parts of yesterday's demo video is that there is non-hostile wildlife in DA:I, too. I might be okay with reasonable hunting as in "kill it with one shot/blow to get meat or fur", but I really hate actual fights.
(damn softhearted person problems)

Check you into a psych ward for killing all those harmless Nugs you mean person you. Oh yes, nugs will certainly get the red mark.
First time I hear that Schmooples noise, it's full on reenactment of the Battle of the Squealing Plains.

I heard Dragons at level 1 give the most XP, and are really easy for the strongest like you.
You should check that out.
One sucker less I say that with your best interest in mind.

No the question is what will you do then? Not what will BioWare do.

Gotta say BSN. I'm weirdly surprised. From always crowing for more people of various orientations an races and wanting the female cast member to be just as compelling as the male cast, I find it odd no one has a problem with driving animals to extinction....a weird observation..

I think this is a problem with many RPGs. When you put exp per kill, you start killing because of it.

but the exp, but the priiizzeeeee
jks When I see any hostile enemy, in any rpg, I see an exp hamburger made to be eaten by me.
Why would the devs give it exp otherwise? So it could mock me, after the realization that I can't harm it?
As a realistic consequence for the sociopathic and psychopathic way most people play their character. It's SCARY that everyone is just okay with killing everything they see.

I will make a modification for the game that gives every animal tha ability to shoot LASER from their eyes that will instant kill you, give them a defensive barrier that will soak up some damage before you can kill it and reduce the XP reward for each individual kill to 10% of its original value.

Bad move, Bears keep the dalish population down. After you kill all the bears the dalish pop will explode!

@Tayah, well, it looks like just you and me that remember. Folks are still going on about being an extinction event like no worlds seen before. Hope they get mauled by a bear 20 hours in when they think they've finally gotten rid of them all =P
