Still going to play the Human Male Mage in my first playthrough. My initial plan was to romance Sera, which obviously won't happen in my first pt anymore. I'll be interested to see how the friendship path plays out with her, though, or if it even happens considering her views could clash with my Inquisitor's. At the moment it looks like the LI in my first pt will be Josephine. :-)

Decided all the way back during DA2 that I wanted to play a female Dalish rogue in some future game (to offset playing as a male human mage in both Origins and 2). At first, when it was announced you could only play human in Inquisition, I immediately stopped following any news on the game. When it came to my attention that we could play as multiple races again, I started planning out how I wanted to play my character.
Nothing I've seen has made me reconsider anything. Although, the recent companion videos have made me want to make Sera, Iron Bull, and Dorian my default team. Still not sure who I plan on romancing, and not *entirely* sure what specialization I want to take - but I suppose I can wait until the game comes out to figure those out. ![]()

Interesting combo since initially Dwarves don't have a Chantry, and don't believe in the Human Chantry.
Then again, the Inquisitor is a surface Dwarf.
I just want to do the opposite of my canon dwarf warden. He embraced the dwarves cultures, and rejected most of humans ways, but was willing to work with them.

Nope. Even happier to be a male Human warrior since Trevelyan is a noble and I will romance Cass so no change there.

I waver everyday.
Same here. I cycle between Qunari, Elven, and Human Female Mage everyday. Then I begin to rethink the class and the only thing I'm not unsure of is gender.

Yup. Copying what I posted in a PM:
I had a pretty solid idea. After seeing the Inquisitor's awesome cowboy hat, it reminded me of my favorite Hellsing character Pip Bernadotte. Since DAI takes places partially in Orlais, I wanted to make an homage to the character with a female elven character named Bernadette (a legitimate French female name). She would have been a bit similar to Pip Bernadotte. Appearance-wise, she would have tan skin, green eyes, auburn hair, hopefully worn in one long braid, and wear that awesome cowboy hat with a similar duster. I imagined she'd be a very competent and charismatic leader like him, able to inspire others with words but also step up to the plate when needed, but would also have kind of a relaxed, easy-going, playful side, and an undefeatable sense of humor even in the face of certain death.
Then I found out the Elven Inquisitor HAS to be Dalish. Suddenly, "Bernadette" did not sound like an appropriate Dalish name, the cowboy hat and armor didn't seem like appropriately Dalish or even elven armor, and a lot of the "city elf" personality traits I envisioned from a city elf upbringing flew out the window.

Good question but nah.
I made up my ruthless male human inquisitor to be warrior with sword and shield from the start. Just as desiced
very soon that my Hawke would be two-handed warrior and Warden dual-wielding roque when both those games were only still on development.
I always make a very strong vision on how I like to create my character and it is not usually affected by
how such and such gameplay choice actually looks.

For the past two DA games, my first playthrough has always been a rogue. Always. Just a skillset that generally appeals to me. Following playthroughs then go to warrior next, then mage.
So, I'd been figuring I'd go into DA:I the same way: rogue for first playthrough.
But man. Watching the nice, higher-quality E3 demo with the dragon battle... it's got me reconsidering. I was in love with the close-up intensity and the amazing amount of detail and realism that was present when Mike took over The Iron Bull to fight up close and personal. I'm in love with everything about these dragons, from the redesign to the sounds to the scripting actions.
While I'm aware rogues can likely run up and attack as well, I'm imagining it may not work so well health-wise this game since they've said there's no more heal spell/health poultice-spamming (which, admittedly, is how I used to roll my rogues and basically make them like warriors
). Which has me actually leaning towards warrior now for my first playthrough... because, MAN, that was just intense and awesome. I don't wanna be long-range for those kinds of battles first time through!
Anyone else wavering on first playthrough plans, be it race, gender, class, party composition, etc?
I have shared this before on twitter and probably here, but I ****** love our dragons.
That is all.

You know, after watching the demo I am starting to have doubt my intent on keeping tradition of always being a Mage first/main playthrough. The PC and Vivenne looked pretty weak in the demo, especially in comparison to Iron Bull and Sera who were doing over 1,000+ dmg points.
Read nothing into the numbers you saw. Combat balance is still happening now and I know some of the abilities were tweaked for the demo just to help pace the fight.

I want to roll female elf mage, but I'm leery of the race restrictions. I may change to qunari or switch up the planned 'mance to Sera

I had to change recently, I'm usually down for the duel-wield warrior, but that isn't on the cards this game so I'll go rogue, human.

well i know i cannot roll a blood mage. i think i'll decide whether to pick rogue or stick to mage when i know more about specs (assuming they will release any solid info other than romances, dragon fights or environments). so yeah... that's pretty much it.

Sera being lesbian made me think about playing as a female inquisitor. Still not sure if I'm gonna do it.

There is only one Scenario that could change my Plans: Vivienne being available as a Love Interest, but not for male Qunari.
In that case, all bets are off.

I'll see every class an every specialization with each race and gender, but for my first play through i will prob go human/male/Warrior as i find them less forgiven for someone learning the ropes so to speak

Actually, i was planning to play as a snarky female elf rogue for my first playthrough, as i did for Origins and countless other rpgs but when i discovered that the elves will be Dalish only, i changed my mind.
I have nothing against the Dalish but i just can't portray my character as one on them. I wanted a regular city elf origin...
So now, i'm torn between human and dwarf, reserving the Qunaris for my second playthrough. The problem is that i also have difficulty to portay nobles as a rogues and same for dwarves (and even more for Qunaris).
So i really don't know... My first charcater will be a female rogue with Alix voice, that is for sure, i just may throw a dice to choose the race...

I was going to play a Dalish mage at first, but going for human warrior or rogue for now. Sera's romance affected that (I'm male), but also, being a Dalish doesn't hold as much appeal to me anymore in this context.
