Every side quest is optional. It means if you want to complete them - fine, but you can do none of them if you don't want to make the walkthrough REALLY long. But if I go for a speed-run for an import into the next game, I usually complete the main story with several assignments (you can look up on wikia what assignments have consrquences in ME2 or 3) to make sequels more interesting.

Learn how to talk properly so we can understand you.
1) sidequests in ME1 don't count for much other than experience & credits. you can easily edit those with the console. especially considering that they all look identical which makes them a real drag. they don't have any real consequences in the next games, only slight differences in dialogue, or an extra NPC here & there.
2) relationships only get formed via talking, nothing to do with any missions. if you want to start a relationship with......you said "her" so it's a femShep. unfortunately only Kaidan is available as a love interest in ME1. Garrus becomes available in ME2 and onwards.
if you want to romance Kaidan, keep talking to him. new dialogue gets automatically unlocked after each major mission & after several side-missions, when you select either "personal input" or "tactical" from the dialogue options. eventually you get to more personal dialogue and he starts sending "signals" that he's interested. usually picking the top (paragon) responses will encourage him and will trigger the romance.
however, be careful of Liara, because the stupid game practically forces you to become her love interest simply by talking to her. while you're simply asking her questions about her species or Benezia or whatever, all of the sudden she makes her personal interest clear & you get to a point where you either tell her you want her, or that "Kaidan is special" when she asks if you're interested in him instead.
unless you're interested in Liara, in which case you'll have to let Kaidan down, gently.
3) Bring Down The Sky is an awesome mission! it's seperate from the main game plot, and you're introduced to the Batarians. Pinnacle Station is the one that sucks.

Im srry if I donr talk to ppl standards but I cant see my keys due poor eye site and and at time I rearrange letters and words or write them backwards. I haven't found a big lettered keyboard that i like or can actually use for gaming.
as bringing down the sky I dont mind it I just some parts annoying.
Oh um theres reason behind my choice Its part my storyline for a fanfic Lillan/Ellijah are going to part a plot where Kaidan dies. I wish they allow u to romance Garrus in first place. I wouldn't have make decision sadly :/ either be alone or have liara

Well, the side missions and dlc are all optional, so it depends on how much you value doing more than necessary for immersion/lore purposes or just enjoying exploration etc.
Some dlc provide more lore if I recall correct, been ages since I played ME1.
Whenever I replay the trilogy I mostly do story missions in ME1 as I know most of the lore. The lore is the strongpoint of ME1 imho, and I'm more into the action paced ME2, so I'll skip what I can in ME1.
Up to you. ![]()

use the setrunspeed command to give yourself megaspeed and zoom past the damn mines. I hate them too. and if you really hate the last part, you'll love blowing Balak's brains off in ME3.
