It's tough being a Zevran-mancer. His letter glitches in DAA. His entire romance glitches in DA2. And now he doesn't even show up in DAI. Sigh.

Don't forget the glitch where he gives you the friendship speech at the final battle instead of the romance speech. Not to mention, if you're a male PC, your epilogue slide glitches to refer to your PC as a woman when speaking about Zevran. That made me so mad!! I enjoyed romancing him for the most part, but the shear number of bugs/glitches specifically for his romance path reeeeally made him seem like his romance was an afterthought (his m/m path in particular).

Actually, he did say there will be content that acknowledges the romance:

 

"...if Zevran is alive at the end of DAO, then he is still alive. There is content in DAI specific to him, and specific to an import where he was romanced in DAO… it just doesn’t, as Mark Darrah said in the Raptr Q&A, involve a personal appearance."

Maybe we'll get an explanation for his missing letter in Awakening - it was shipped to the wrong address, and ended up in the hands of the Inquisitor.

It was fixed in a patch I think, and even then just in a codex entry. Leliana's didn't show up for a while either.

That's definitely not my last memory of him, I always avoid his mission in DA2, I quite hate it 

 

That's what I think I'm not bothered at all for the fact he's not coming back. If they're not going to do it right, better not do it at all... I'd love it though if in the future we were going to Antiva or we got a plot in which his appearance could be relevant and he could play a more/less important role, like Leliana in DAI (and if he'd look as fine as she does now)

I'm a little disappointed, but also relieved? After the hash they made of his cameo in DA2, especially. Whitewashed, looked almost nothing like him, bugged dialogue... bleh.

 

Unless I get evidence to disprove it, I headcanon that he either up and disappeared along with the romanced/best friends Warden, or is too busy taking over and protecting Antiva from crazy mages/templars/Maker knows what else to really care about who's killing who in Orlais.

Is it true that Zevran won't be in DAI? Why? All the other romance options show up, why doesn't he? What about the Wardens that had him as a LI?

You're not playing as the Warden. Why should that romance have any influence over what happens during the events of Inquisition? Shoving in references for the sake of it is worse than not referencing it at all.

 

Granted, it would be neat to see what Zevran is up to, but if his appearance doesn't serve a purpose other than fan service, best he not appear at all. Pointless cameos for the sake of pointless cameos are the worst.

zev is my favorite companion and LI in DAO and it didn't start out that way. I got the game on PC specifically for his dialog fix mod. Because he is not the most popular character I am fine with him staying far from the game if only because without the love I would worry he would not be done right and better to be ignored than done wrong  I can happily headcanon he is off with my wardens doing world saving wardeny stuff.

I reckon it probably made no sense to bring him in for a cameo if he's still alive in your playthrough because he's busy in Antiva taking over/heading up the crows, and we're not going to Antiva. Maybe he could show up in future DLC, or future games if we go to Antiva.
Perhaps Josephine may have mention of him though since Josephine is Antivan!

I romanced Zevran more than anyone else but am happy not to see him in DAI.   We are assured he will be mentioned if it is appropriate to your world state.   At the end of DAO and at the end of Awakening there are hints that he takes over the Crows.    In DA2 whilst he appears to be on the run from them, the Codex suggests that actually he is making good progress killing off various leading figures, so it is perfectly possible that in the intervening period he did in fact take over the Crows.   Even if you romance him, at the end of Awakening it is suggested that the Warden has been seen in Antiva with Zevran.    So I'm hopeful that he now rules the Crows and Josephine will be able to confirm this.    We may also be able to indirectly get his support and the offer of some of his assassins to help us.    Obviously if he is in charge of the operation he would not be leaving Antiva and I like to think of him there rather than still holed up somewhere on the run.   And if a future game should take us to Antiva, we may well see him again.

You're all right I guess I never really thought of it that way. It also nice to now know there will be something about him in DAI, I'll just have to wait for the game to find out what. Oh well there's always my Fanfics and head cannon, and maybe one day a DLC.

Are you playing on PC?  Because there's a Zev related fan patch that fixes most of his bugs (including the slides).  I'm not even a Zevmancer and I use it, simply because of the huge number of bugs it fixes.

That just made sure that as soon as I can get a new laptop I'm getting the game for PC. I'd LOVE the bugs to be fixed. Does it work for the DA2 bug as well?

Well... Morrigan was the only LI that didn't show up in DA2, so it isn't like all LIs MUST show up in every future game..

I personally like if he wont show up in DAI. Antiva is on other side of the world and it would be stupid if he showed up and say "lol hi im Zevran; bye!" (DA2 King Alistair flashback here). That being said I'm sure in future DA title taking place in/near Antiva, Zev is gonna be major part of story similar to how Leliana is and Zev fans will get their piece of moment while other major characters we love will be absent.
