Well, if the Qunari represent the North Africans and Arabs then what are the Riviani people? Look at Isabella and Vivienne, are they supposed to be the equivalent of DA's African people?

Look at origins, the Qunari in DAO looked like real black people, where as Duncan and Isabella were pretty much were white or caucasian. Their hair, the features were Indian or Mediterranean. Even in DA2, to me Isabella didn't look right if you call her black....(that Rapunzel hair)

Well, that was a design thing, yeah Sten looked like a black man but he was meant to look more like a bronzed DA2 qunari. Also, I bet if Isabella was in DAI and Duncan was alive and in DAI, they would look black. Also, Duncan is only half Rivain.

The problem with people drawing too literal an analogy with the real world as that people then start imposing real world prejudices on Thedas. The Roman Catholic, Orthordox, Muslim political set up in the Middle Ages may have been the inspiration for the current balance of power in Thedas but that is about as far as it goes. The White Chantry, Black Chantry and Qun have very little in common with those real world counterparts, the Qun in particular being much more akin to Communism even if the developers maintain that it is a religion rather than just a political philosophy.
Different European city states and nations were also used as the basis for the culture in certain Thedas nations, e.g. Antiva, Orlais and Ferelden, but in fact the traditions they represent do not necessarily correspond to exact co-existence within our world. For example, the elaborate "Game" of Orlais, together with all the costumes and masks, comes from a much later period than the culture of the Landsmeet in Ferelden.
In fact it is also odd that some of the nations and cultures of Thedas seem to have got stuck in some sort of time warp and have not progressed or developed very much at all in the last 900 years. Christianity might have continued through the last 2000 years but the accompanying social culture has changed constantly in the different countries that follow the religion. For example, what existed in Rome when it was adopted as the state religion was very different from what existed when the schism occurred with the Orthodox Church and again very different from the time of the Reformation. Likewise look at England from the time of the Norman Conquest onwards. The way monarchy, government and laws operated evolved over time, sometimes driven by monarchs themselves, sometimes by the nobility or church, sometimes by popular revolt. By contrast the set up in most of the nations in Thedas has been stagnant. Celene made some half hearted attempt at reform but did not really seem committed to it and certainly didn't seem willing to use the Game to achieved her ends but instead allowed it to restrict their scope.
I'm hoping that we may actually be allowed to influence such matters and effect real change because there is too much complacency and inertia in government and social structure at present.
