In one of the demos a giant chucks a boulder at Solas and pretty much one shots him. My thought was "man, I wonder if I could pop up a Wall of Ice in front of that to stop all damage?"
The Ice wall would likely be obliterated of course, but I do believe that if fast enough, you could erect a barrier that could potentially save you or your companions butts.
It be another great use aside from obvious crowd control.
Thoughts?

@ andar91 - Fair enough.
I looked back at my post and realized it came off as more confrontational than I meant it to. You in no way upset with with your post; I was just explaining how I think of things since a lot of people are upset about the 8 ability limit and such.
I found that even in Origins and DA2, I would reach a certain point where I would consistently forget to use abilities I acquired later in the game lol. So I sort of think of it as, "Oh yeah, Hawke totally knows how to use a Telekinetic Burst...she just doesn't have very many occasions to use it." lol
@ProfessionalPirate: Perhaps it would...we don't know how tough an ice wall is.
Personally, I think Fade Stepping on out of there is probably an easier, cheaper solution to that particular problem. But using an Ice Wall would be neat.

Oh no, don't sweat it... lol... in fact, I thought that my response sounded a bit short, so I added this: No sense in wasting a slot if you don't plan on using the ability with any regularity...
It's no problem really. We're all going to wind up dealing with this 8 skill limit differently anyway... It didn't occur to me that you intentionally left the Focus power off that list.

Just popping in here to speculate on a use for Wall of Ice...

Hmmm, that's an interesting idea. You could very well protect yourself from projectiles. That said, nothing as big as a giant boulder though lol
I wonder if Wall of Fire could negate the Ice Dragon's breath or a Wall of Ice hold out against Dragonfire...

That would be cool. Just using it to create chokepoints, IMO, is invaluable.

Oh God damn...I forgot about Mark of the Rift!!!!!!!!
Damn...if I can't put it in, I might be bringing Cassandra with me very often, since she's a Templar.

Bingo. Using that or Fire Wall could trap enemies while you can drop a big AOE attack on them too while they are stuck.

That's definitely worth trying... considering how much damage that giant was doing, we are going to need to figure something out.
Oh, and happy 100 pages everyone. Seems odd for a non-romance, non-character thread... o_o

Yeah, cause I think a direct hit might even be enough to one shot you with full barrier.

lol.... that's why all of my mages will have Guardian Spirit. ![]()
I think I will also be using Blizzard for the Ice Armor damage resistance during those fights... just to be safe.

Okay, this is gonna seem sketchy, but I am 100% positive I have heard Mike say somewhere that a Wall of Ice is cool and then acknowledge (paraphrasing): "Not gonna help you much against a dragon's breath" or something like that. It seemed to imply that it can be destroyed (which makes sense to me).
I THINK it was the old Nerd Appropriate podcasts, but I'm not sure. Tactical Combat one, maybe? It's old though, so some things have likely changed.

Just funneling them to your warriors is a big advantage.
Do we know if AOE spells would shatter it via FF?

.........mother effer. Ok, then we have no possible shield against Dragonfire then. So, I guess the moral of that is: Don't get hit.

Well, you can craft armor with elemental resistance, right? It isn't ideal, but making few extra suits for combating specific dragons might give us an edge... also, there is a perk in Spirit that increases the power of Barrier. If you manage to max out a warrior's Guard and then put them inside a reinforced Barrier, that might be enough to block them, at least for a while... The only problem with this is that I saw some creature that was "Immune to Taunt," so it might be impossible for a warrior to even hold a dragon's attention. This was either the Giant or the Dragon, but one of them was immune in the video... :/ (edit: yeah, it's the dragon... but the player is targeting its leg... I'll keep looking to see if the head is immune)

I just noticed that it has "Perceptive" listed as well. What the hell does that mean?

Do you think there will be secret spells/abilities you can unlock by doing certain actions (a little like in DAO where you have to do certain things in order to unlock specializations)

I think there will be maybe one or two. Kinda like the Avernus spells/talents.
