Do you think there will be secret spells/abilities you can unlock  by doing certain actions (a little like in DAO where you have to do certain things in order to unlock specializations)

They said you have to do a quest or something for all of them. You only get one, but they're more meaningful this time.

I just noticed that it has "Perceptive" listed as well. What the hell does that mean?

I would think that stealth would be less effective against it--possibly preventing stealthing, backstabbing, then running away, rinse, repeat?

"Immune to backstab" knowing this game... :(

Jesus. They really went all out for these dragons....

I just had an interesting though....Frost Dragons are weak to Fire, Fire dragon's weak to ice. If we face a lightning dragon, what is it's weakness?

IE, we're doubly screwed lol.

QFT.  "Immune to All Disabling Effects" and it can't even be Taunted!  Wth?

Good question.  Knowing this game it doesn't have one.  Hm... I hope there is a Lightning dragon though... I got sick of Fire and Frost only in Skyrim... let's hope they have really cool ones like a Poison Dragon or something.

These things are not gonna be easy to kill at all.

Note to self: Save lightning dragons for last. And wear a crap ton of lightning resistant armor.

Reminds me of DnD Dragons, truly unstoppable badassery. Perseptive may mean they can see through stealth (though its probably critical immunity). In DnD, Dragons can see through stealth and invisibility 'and' are immune to backstabs. Also did anyone see the lightning whip attacks that demon was making? That was pretty kewl. Oh and if we're gonna be making a few sets of armor with different resistances I'm kinda happy it's all in 1 thing. I mean we still get glove/boot customization but I don't have to keep 1 of every damn thing now, since it's lego'ed into a single item.

Anyway, thankfully Dragon's are the one big thing you work towards, not the common enemy. They're supposed to be the hardest thing, and them having high resist to their element makes sense to me. Looking forward to it. ;)

I agree. The Pride demon looks badass with their lightning whips. And btw, Dragons are completely immune to their own element, not just highly resistant.

Edit: Nvm, they are resistant only.

Yeah, if that dragon is any indication...they're gonna be ugly.

One thing I found interesting was the Greater Cold Resistance bit.

So maybe immunity (to damage types) is gone, but resistance is tiered? Makes sense to me. Like...Cold Resistance gives a 50% penalty to damage, and Greater gives 75% or something like that?

Lol, I think the point is to just not shoot Frost magic at the Frost dragon.

Yup, that's when Energy Barrage and a Fire staff come in handy.  ^_^

The can't be taunted is a problem only for players that rely on taunt, but I never did, so if anything I'll find it more natural. :P

Obviously, lol.

I just wanted to say that because there was an earlier debate about immunity and resistance. Straight up immunity to a damage type is harsh if you have nothing that's not that damage type.

I legit think I'm gonna have my mages stay back and lay on all the AOE spells, while my tanks rush forward. For Dragon fights, I might do two warriors and two mages. Let the warriors rush in, and have Dorian cast Revive as necessary while he and I stay back and lay on the fire.

True... I'll have to think up some strategy, but this thing looks extremely difficult to kill.  It can probably 1 shot most of the party members easily.

That sounds pretty good.  I'll likely toss Cole into the mix so that he can open up with a Stealthed Full Draw... possibly followed by Assassinate depending on how his specialization looks.  Hopefully "Perceptive" doesn't mean that it can see stealthed party members, because that's pretty much the only way I can keep it from targeting Cole considering how much damage he should be doing...

Heh... talking about it is fun, but I can't wait to actually do all of this.  xD

You know, doing a Stealthed Full Draw is a pretty smart idea. I wonder if Cass's Templar spec might have a very powerful single target talent. Either way, if the dragon is already on the ground, I'll open up with my strongest AOE spells and talents before it spots us.

What I find positively frightening is that one of the youtubers apparently fought it for 2 hours and managed to take it down.

So it IS possible, but lord. Can you imagine if your game froze or something in the middle of that and you had to start again?

Fire Mine has a 3 second primer, but that dragon doesn't look like it can move around very quickly... unfortunately, crowd control seems to be out of the question, so tossing out extreme amounts of damage as quickly as possible is probably the best way to go.  I have no idea if I'm going to even bother with warriors since it can't be taunted, but they did mention some armor that builds up guard over time, so warrior might be a viable choice regardless...

I just looked and the dragon they fought was Level 17 while they were Level 13, so they were first of all extremely outmatched.

Eh.. I fought Yiazmat in Final Fantasy XII for like 5 or 10 hours (I honestly don't remember which, but it was a really, really long time) so I'm not that worried.  Losing 2 hours would suck, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Yeah I think they said that was done from far away with ranged attacks. I don't think a high level party fighting it will the full party would take 2 hours to kill it.

I find that in this instance, warriors are better than dagger rogues cause the warriors will probably live longer. Based on what we know right now, I might drop a Fire Mine or two via Dorian, do an Immolate via Gale. Heck, maybe even drop a Wall of Fire in there too from Dorian. Then a double Fire Energy Barrage. Otherwise, I'm just gonna start slinging spells one after the other.

Dagger rogues?  Sera is my dagger rogue.  She'll be staying at camp when we go dragon hunting.  I think she'll be awesome against normal enemies and even bosses, but she can't contribute in a meaningful way against dragons... :/

And now that you mention it, this might be a good time to pull Vivienne off the bench.  I was worried about making her a pyromancer, but it sounds like double Fire Mines and Full Draw will be a fun little greeting for this creature.  Too bad it can't be incapacitated...

....you know....I might try out the 4 mage party on a dragon, just to see how much damage I could pull off.
