Blizzard is going to rock.

Knight Enchanter + Blizzard means a 50% damage reduction. And most importantly, you can still do things while channeling Blizzard, so you can still AA.

For example, you could Static Cage + Blizzard + AA with your Spirit Word in a ring of death those squishy mages+archers!!

If every tick is calculated seperately, it should be. If the damage for the ticks is predetermined at the start of the cast, nope.

I wouldn't be surprised if for simplicity it's calculated as a lump sum and the divided out.

You'd also run out of mana, potentially, and that build would be weak against damage sponge bosses.

The passive reads

Damage Bonus: 5% for every 10% missing mana

I assume that means that damage will naturally increase as we lose mana rather than being determined before each spell. Hope that's the case but I could be wrong.

It would be cool, if that's the case. I can only speak with experience in some mmo's, in which each tick of a channeling spell was predetermined on the circumstances at cast start. Say, you buffed yourself with trinkets/whatever and even when they run out during the channeling, the damage stayed the same. Vice versa buffs that became active during the channeling didn't count into the damage of the ticks.

Can't tell which system Inquisition will use.

That has reminded me of my Affliction Warlock in WoW T.T I wish there was a tree like that in DA... and no, entropy is nothing like it. I want a full DoT tree >.<

Does it have to be a mage?  What about the Sabotage tree?  Assassins might also have Bleed damage...

Nothing more than what I have in those two posts above. I have gone through and taken screenshots of all documented abilities that we have seen so far.

And that is why I love the sabotage tree :) But a DoT tree for mages would be super cool IMO, with Necromancy as a spec and that... Spirit damage is amazing in DA but it's like nature damage, almost forgotten for the PC >.<

Actually, scratch that I don't have the Two Handed passives, but that's about it.

The Winter tree looks so broken--in a "enemies are going to drop like flies" way.

Yeah, that is true... the lack of spirit damage is troubling... it's probably in Necromancer though, as if Dorian needed even more awesome in his skill set... >.>

Its really cc heavy with only 2 dmg abilities i think. Inferno is the nuker tree imo.

Stormbringer doesn't convince me. 300% WD every 15 seconds, meh.

Yes, I was so relieved when I learnt that Walking bomb was going to be in, one way or the other... But I'd love if we could get, the same trees as we do, changing nothing, but adding one Spirit damage-oriented tree and another nature-oriented :D That'd be PERFECTION :D

Yup.  FIre Mine has huge single target damage and Wall of Fire looks godly if used against paralyzed/trapped enemies.

CC is more valuable than nuking though if DAI follows DA2 in philosophy. Nuking was effective in DAO because enemies had such low health and bosses were very rare and you had absurd amounts of healing to just turn it into an endurance contest.

Stormbringer still tickles my soul delightfully...with crackilng arcs of lightning, of course.
