I already asked this once on the forum and I totally got blown off. What do we know about tactics?

Not too much. Though if you tell a party member to hold a position they stay in a sort of radius from the hold point and if knocked out of the radius, they will return to that point/radius again. Which i thought was neato.
But other than that, i don't think much else has been said.

I assume Mark of the Rift is the means by which we close the Rifts?

I don't think that power will fit into my regular roster of 8 and I'll just put it in when it's time to close a Rift.

Hi! Didn't want to make a whole new topic for one question -- Do we know any of the skills for the Champion specialization yet?

mark of the rift is just an ability tied in to your green mark.
closing rifts can be done by your inquisitor and just pressing the appropriate button eg a for Xbox .

No, Mark of the Rift is a ranged Focus power given to Inquisitors. It creates a shockwave which banishes all demons in a certain range and heavily damages those it cannot banish.

How we close Veil tears is not the same as the actual ability "Mark of the Rift".

Unfortunately, no... we don't even know what that tree looks like.  :/

I feel like that maybe the Champion Focus power is gonna be a big buff for the party to share.

Mark of the Rift is a damaging ability, particularly effective against demons, and is in addition to the whole closing rifts mechanic.  If you watch the video on page 140 of this thread, you can see its description.

Touching briefly on my Chain Lightning vs. Energy Barrage debate, the only advantage I see in Chain Lightning is its ability to damage multiple enemies.  However, I didn't realize you could use any of the elements with Energy Barrage, depending on your staff, as pointed out by Eluvianus.  That's a pretty awesome bonus.

Like "Rally" from DA:O perhaps?  Hm... or perhaps DA2 as well... I could see it boosting mana/stamina regen.

Yeah. I think Mike talked about that ability in one of the early demo's during E3.

Very useful when fighting demons.

Can't wait to banish a big ass Pride Demon, just like that.

The champion is definitely going to have a rally cry like ability but other than that we know nothing sadly. DA:O description makes the champion sound like a battle commander while DA:I makes them sound like an immovable wall with a focus on a battle of attrition. I hope they show it soon. I'm going crazy here.

Thanks for posting that. Do we know yet if we get xp from the "kills" done to demons?

Good question, no clue. I assume we will though. Since they technically are banished, I think we'll get XP.

Question, what do we know of the abilities of the Tempest and the assassin? Trying to figure out which specialization I might want to go down for my archer.

Tempest involves sheathing your weapons in elemental flame and frost.
Assassin deals with stealthily annihilating your enemies from up close or afar.

The only reason I can see them not giving us xp is because it could be such a op ability that it would be "cheap" to give us the full credit for killing things we haven't technically killed. There was a spell called warp in FFXII that made the enemies dispensary, but at the expense of giving you no xp. Some enemies were immune to this effect though. I thought it might be like this.

To be honest, I was wondering the same thing.  It seems like a lot of games cheat you out of XP if you banish enemies rather than kill them outright.

Maybe if it was a normal spell, but a Focus power that gives no exp for enemies that it kills sounds pretty bogus... I can't imagine it works that way.

So the Inquisitor can banish people to the Shadow Realm Fade. I can see why there might be a concern.

Ya baiscally that about as far we know with these Specialization until we get to see the Skill tree for them.

Tempest has my interests because of the ability to enchant weapons into elemental Fire or Ice damage. Not to mention it is designed as a Mage Specialization for Rogues.

I like Rogue classes in any RPG but a Mystic Rogue class is way better in my gameplay style.

... I can "Banish" demons you say... it's like they asked me what kind of game to make.

Well it's obviously going into my build then.

- Dispel

- Rejuvenate

- Barrier

- Spirit Blade

- Revive

- Mark of the Rift

- Fade Step

- Mind Blast (or KE highest power)

I think it's Resurgence, not Rejuvenate.
