Seriously, that lightning dragon.

Sadly no new skill lookies. But it was a fun stream either way, was on hard diff and (at least when mike was controlling) the warrior guard held up pretty good. I think the whole Shield Wall thing is gonna be great for tank work, single hit was building a TON of Guard, like 30% or something. Makes me wonder if thats dependent on what you block, might not be though considering its always just 10 stamina consumed.

Well, little over 3 weeks to go... stupid time, l2movefaster.

They should just go ahead and rename the spell "NOPE".

LOL

I was thinking of renaming it, "Gonna f-up your plans."

Ok use of ice trap. No damage, but good for incapacitating.

I liked the Antivan Fire use too.

How many abilities do you think we'll be able to select on character creation?  The dwarf Inquisitor was level five and had five active abilities mapped.  But I figure he had to have at least 1 or 2 passives in there.  Humans, of course, start with one extra ability.

Maybe 2? Like in DA:O.

By the sounds of it we don't choose any abilities at CC. We get two preassigned until we get an almost free respec option early in the game.

This was answered in the no attribute on level up thread. You get two abilities per-assigned and then on your first level up you get two points to spend instead of the one. Early on in the game you get a almost free respec to reassign your points.

So by level 2 we'll have 4 points?  That sounds pretty good... I can add a few things to my build then.  I take it this is for the Inquisitor only?

edit:  Actually, 5 for humans... o.O

I edited my post when I realized he was talking specifically about the human racial bonus

:(  Oh well... one extra point is better than nothing.

Well, they must give us some points fast at early game so the game does not feel to limited. There are a lot of passives in the trees, so starting with 2 extra points sounds good!

What I really like is that by level 4 they already had Blackwall and Sera... We have seen videos of the recruitment of Cole at level 5, etc. Early followers quests means we can start thinking on our party and skill trees fast into the game. Me likes.

Yeah, that thing shot a bigass beam of lightning.

Will definitely require some major work to kill.

Why do they auto-assign our first two abilities?  That makes no sense, esp. for a mage.  And does anyone have more information on this early, "free" respec option?  (I was hoping not to respec at all, esp. for my Inquisitor, but I have very specific ideas about how to develop him.  There are too many choices and not enough levels for me not to have a plan.)

Can't you just make an exception for the first respec since they are auto-assigning points?  I will also be avoiding respec, but that's what I'm going to do in this case... (oh, and I have no idea how it works... I heard something about an amulet... and that it was easy... but that's it)

once you're done the initial prologue (takes me about 10 minutes) you can get your first respec potion for free (or maybe 1 coin).  After that you can buy an indefinite number of respec potions, though they have a tangible cost associated with them.

I have a feeling the two auto assigned spells are Barrier and Energy Barrage. And with the whole Barrier-being-attatched-to-ability-mechanics thing and being one of the most talked about HP managing abilities, I think Barrier will be pretty close to a mandatory ability, so I guess it might be good we get it outside of the normal level resource.

But yeah... I'd rather they let us pick to be honest. Seems kind of strange to limit player choice in that one regard right out the gate only to have it fixed minutes later by a simple potion.

This was the case in the previous DA games so it fits the pattern... I'm just happy that respec is an option at all.  It wasn't in DA:O, and in that game allies started off fully auto-leveled.  At least in DA2 there was a cutoff (only a handful of points spent regardless of what level we met them at), although Maker's Sigh was kind of expensive...

DISPEL CAN STOP DEMON  EMERGENCE FROM RIFTS.

Isn't that awsome?

Yet another reason for all mages to build into spirit tree and become barrier spammers, as if making passives in another trees that require barrier to work was not enough.

They should just rename "mages" to "barrier machines".

I'm definitely dropping two more points into Spirit so that Gale can have Dispel

I'm mapping: Winter's Grasp, Fade Step, Energy Barrage, Dispel, Immolate, Firestorm, Barrier, and Wall of Ice

You say awesome. I say something I should not say on a public forum... even in Spanish.

Especially considering that at lvl 12 Mike's KE had barely invested any points deeply into any other tree, including their spec, because he had to take Spirit abilities.... so it just feels like you'll be a "Spirit, with a splash of something else mage"

It'll probably only damage them, they said if it's a stronger demon they'll come through regardless but weakened.

Still that's insanely cool.

I could live with those two choices--and they're actually a really good guess--since I was planning to select each in my first few levels, if not in that order.  Even if those aren't what we get, I'll do an initial respec.  I'm not completely crazy and rigid.  I imagine they went this route for development reasons, and at least they give you an almost immediate option to make the choices your own.

The Templar spec might get something similar to the Spirit tree Dispel. An ability called Cleanse, because that's the name of that specific talent in both DAO and DA2.
