The Templar spec might get something similar to the Spirit tree Dispel. An ability called Cleanse, because that's the name of that specific talent in both DAO and DA2.

Hmmmm, good point. That means if I have two Dispelling mages and Cass, we can drastically change the fight before the demons even manifest.

That would make Cassandra quite valuable to my party...

The icon for the templars first ability on the left does kind of look similar to that of dispel

And just like that, Cassandra cemented her position as the permanent warrior in my party unless plot reasons dictate otherwise.

lol... wow, you are really sold on Dispel, aren't you?  I'll have to watch the Twitch stream if it gets put on youtube (it kept freezing earlier) and see it first hand.

I will say this about the Twitch demos. They make tactical mode worth trying.

So I just noticed that, the companions don't have their specs available at level five. I wonder if they will unlock them at the same time you do.

I believe so. Once you hit level seven, the silhouettes will probably appear.

You say awesome. I say something I should not say on a public forum... even in Spanish.

Especially considering that at lvl 12 Mike's KE had barely invested any points deeply into any other tree, including their spec, because he had to take Spirit abilities.... so it just feels like you'll be a "Spirit, with a splash of something else mage"

"Awsome" was ironic.

I hate what they are doing to mage class. Were I to make a meme of state of magic I would depict the Warden creating storm of the century, Hawke casting firestorm and Inquisitor barely lighting a campfire to pass out from exhaustion.

One of the things I kind of dislike about the magic system as it present exists is that for some reason BioWare have felt compelled to follow the weird-ass Fire/ice/Lightning thing that's been in RPGs these days. If they were going to have four basic trees for the mage, why didn't they do the whole Primal/Arcane/Spirit/Creation thing. I know they took out healing and Haste is now a Focus Spell, but you can make Creation more than those.

Eudaemonium, yes.

I had said about the Magic triangle (ice/fire/thunder) that most RPGs have here in some topic.

And here we are, Bioware adds this triangle in DAI.

Primal, Arcane, Spirit, Creation and Entropy stuff as in DAO is cool and give more diversity.

Yeah, those were the ones. Why did they drop the four schools (except Spirit) in favour of the fad triad?

Dispel seems nice, I love that they gave it the ability to remove "lesser" demons before they manifest. (LESSER demons, not pride demons surely lol)

I guess it is the kind of spell you can discover years after how good it is. I remember that in DA2, it was not until my 5th playthrough that I discovered I could dispel all those creepy vortex that autokilled my party!

Yup. I have definitely been surprised at how useful it is becoming.

Hmph.  I literally have no space in my build for it.  Dispelling is going to have to be Cassandra and Solas and/or Dorian's job.  I do like that it has some utility beyond getting rid of buffs and debuffs... anything to make the Spirit tree less Barrier-centric.  Although the upgrade to Dispel does strengthen Barriers... lol

I saw another thread that reminded me that our weapons, crafting, accessories, and armor/clothes will boost our powers/abilities and stats along with passives.

Would love to increase the talent/power pool for my team, not to mention somewhere put perks into alchemy, crafting, and whatever else I can give myself to maintain a strong advantage.

At the very least, I'd give it to your support mage and Cassandra.

For my Qunari mage, who I might end up running first, his character has always been very good at dispelling enchantments and other magics, based on how I've written him.

Also, can we Dispel the glyphs that enemy mages throw down? Cause I know that the Venatori mages have an unhealthy love for fire glyphs.

So what are you guys doing with friendly fire? I am doing my first playthrough it on hard and I feel like not having it on would be a bit of a cop out plus I enjoyed the combat more in Origins and part of the fun was having to think about FF when planning AOE's. That said I really don't know how I am going to react to the new combat system. I hated FF in DA2 and never played on nightmare because of it.

I remember seeing something about accessories that boosted individual abilities, but I haven't heard about that in a long time... if that's still in the game and isn't just limited to rings, then that would be a good way to get the most out of our characters.  I'm probably going to focus heavily on Life Drain weapons.

Most likely, yes.  Hm... Dispel has an 8 second cooldown, and it's a detonator... but what does that mean exactly?  Does it cause spirit damage if it's used against enemies who are shocked or sleeping?

Nope, not for me. I'm not a fan of friendly fire. I'm turning it off. I might go hard, but definitely no FF.

Same. I plan to equip most of, if not all my staves with Vampiric Runes.

I'm not sure.  I also hated friendly fire in DA2 because the damage ratios for enemies and allies was completely unbalanced... if it's like DA:O, however, I will definitely use it.

I don't mind life drain. It sounds like a great idea.

I'll see what I can craft, what kind of runes I can add, and additional elemental or spell damages I can include to my team.

I don't agree with mages having to be focused on Spirit. Of the 3 mages I've planned, only 1 of them is going to use the Spirit tree, and for damage purposes (in combination with the Inferno passive that consumes 50% of the barrier to increase damage) Maybe it's kinda risky, but I'll depend on my warriors creating enough guard and aggro, staying out of close combat, killing archers first and having peaceful aura xD Sometimes, high damage+CC > support!
