I don't mind life drain. It sounds like a great idea.

I'll see what I can craft, what kind of runes I can add, and additional elemental or spell damages I can include to my team.

Yeah, I am going to spend a lot of time exploring the world and looking for rare schematics and materials to use in crafting... customizing the PC and each companion to get the most out of our skills is one of the things I'm looking forward to the most.

I'm not sure.  I also hated friendly fire in DA2 because the damage ratios for enemies and allies was completely unbalanced... if it's like DA:O, however, I will definitely use it.

Yeah it was silly. For me the biggest problem was that origins generally had much more space to move around and you had better control over your party. So you could avoid most FF damage completely but that wasn't really possible in DA2. It was all too fast so there was little in the way of placing an AOE in a certain area and it only doing damage to enemies. They would either run over to you in about two seconds avoiding most of the damage or your party members would run into the area and receive a bunch of damage from your spell.

The tactical combat and large open spaces should fix that but I guess I wont know for sure until the game comes out. I think I will start with it on and see how it goes.  ;)

Might need to invest in these:

No vanguard tree......when I saw the sword & board dwarf in a team with Blackwall I was like "Hell yea! I finally get to see Vanguard!" Then the after he switched to Vivienne to show us Barrier.....again........&#&@&$&@&#&#&$!!!!!!!

But at least the gameplay was a MAJOR in improvement! Shield wall gains ALOT of guard! That got me so hype! I wonder if shield wall protects us from magic attacks? I will have to look at the video again but the inquisitor wasn't taking that much damage compared to everyone else. I know he taunted a few enemies but it seemed like alt of the other enemies were engaged with other companions. Antivan fire was just awesome with how much of the area it blocked off. Depending on how hard it is to craft I might be able to have my mages focus on other things occasionally or do some major zoning. Shield slam having the incapacitated ability is nice (is that what its called?). That is going to not only add more cc but I'm sure it'll draw mad aggro.

Next stream they WILL show us the vaguard tree!!! AND CHAMPION!!!!

PLEASE BIOWARE!!!
I want to theorycraft builds with the other marshmellow classes.

Also they states that the marshmallows a.k.a rouge & mage can obtain guard thru crafting but it was difficult. Depending on if they can regain it that could open up to Knight Enchanter tanks. The whole ice armor thing doesn't sound all that effective to me in the long term & you still need mana to build up & maintain aggro.

Yes. I think crafting will keep out teams greatly. Finding helpful items is a must for me.

Nah... I like "True Grit," but everything else in that tree is related to mounts or bonus exp from enemies, so I'm not going to be spending enough points there to unlock the schematics perk.  And there are three of them as well, so basically we'd have to spend 3 points on schematics or else the equipment of some classes would be much weaker than the others.  No, I'd rather not do it that way.  Hopefully I can find something decent in random loot and then use masterwork materials to upgrade it...  I saw a video where the Inquisitor found a "Templar armor" schematic, so it's not out of the question...

edit:  Oh yeah, Focus is in that tree as well, but I won't be needing that and it's another 3-4 point unlock for a single Focus perk... <_<

How do we get more perk points again?

I wouldn't mind uber mage powers if we had to deal with the possibility of becoming addicted to lyrium and demonic possession.

Abominations can't be cured, so I don't think the possibility of a random or mini-game based Game Over would be worth it to me...

That is why I am fine with mages not being overpowered because we don't have to deal with the risks mages in thedas have to deal with.

I'm ready to see some more warrior abilities. I know exactly what I want on my Storm Mage, but I want to plan out my Fire Warrior for my second play through.

They showed Vivienne's spirit tree but she has nothing in it beside Barrier. She's a ice mage mostly. I suspect Barrier is the new Mind Blast (aka in both DAO and DA2 the default spell was Mind Blast).

About guard, I remember seeing one of the Vanguard tree taunt with the mention of it (I don't remember where I saw that though, too many videos). I also saw a crafted weapons with "On hit: + 10 guard". If that "enchantment" is available on all weapons and Rogue/Mage can have it...Holy Molly!

Mages and rogues with guard generating weapons?  o.O

That would be pretty sweet...

Uh, yes they can. Connor in DAO, Pharamond in Asunder.

What video is this? That would be amazing with some increase attack speed buffs and that would really help KEs that want to tank or SnB's have more survivability.

If that's still in the game, that's probably going to be my priority for all characters... hopefully we can have Life Drain and Guard generation, although that sounds pretty OP...

Connor wasn't fully possessed, but I didn't read Asunder so I don't know anything about that person you mentioned...

The +10 guard is actually in a screenshot, but it's a Warrior weapon (a maul). That's why I'm wondering if it's available to all.

I wonder what will determine the weapon's damage in crafting. I wonder if we can just pick it for mage staffs, or if the material or schematic will determine what damage it will do. I also hope warrior and rogue weapons that do elemental damage are still in. I realize we can add runes, but I still want a sword that does exclusively fire damage to ignore armor like we could get in DA2.

Crafting materials determine what kind of elemental damage a crafted staff does.

The guy in question was fully possessed by an upper level pride demon, and the group went into the Fade, beat the demon, and freed the mage.

Yeah, staves at least will require an elemental rune to be crafted.

Well, since I didn't read the book, I'll take your word for it.  I still wouldn't want demonic possession mechanics added to the game...

So I just noticed that, the companions don't have their specs available at level five. I wonder if they will unlock them at the same time you do.

A interesting to notice.

Hopefully they will explain why companions doesn't have their specialization during their early levels.
