Really? A mage can't engage in combat from extreme distance? In that case Stormbringer does nothing, you are out of range of its bolts. On the other hand you specifically move closer so that you are just behind the front line, thus allowing your storm bringer to do stuff. This is a tactical decision, stay safe and don't use storm bolts or run forward and shoot lightning out of your eyes.

It doesn't just shoot out lighting without player input, positioning is a key part of tactics and is part of your input. I'm sorry if you don't like a lighting shield type ability, just don't take it. Fire Mines work the same way, except they are ground located and one-off rather than player based and continuous. Fire Mine allows you to stay safe in the back, storm bringer requires you to move closer to activate it. As I asked earlier (and you conveniently ignored) do you hate all 'timed' abilities or just the ones that let you pretend what you want to pretend?

I like to have control over gameplay. I like to make decisions about what I do in combat.

But damn... You hear about it in classes, but to see it almost first hand... The irrationality in behaviours and thoughts of customers towards brands can be alarmingly scary.

We get it, you hate it.

Yo Archery is looking sooo powerful. I've been thinking for the longest time of switching my dwarf rogue Inquisitor and Cole from dual dagger to archer rogues.

He went over them really fast, it took me a while to get shots of them but I think that is all of them. He pressed back after hovering over Archer's Lance.

Wicked horns on that qunari.

Does anyone else think it will be amusing seeing a male qunari mage wielding a staff?

It's coz I never play archers so I had little interest in the tree to begin with.  :P

this tree is full of quality damage dealing. I Imagine having a speed bonus and extra damage done alone makes it worthwhile. Combined with pieces from sabotage and subterfuge and you have raw power. Assassin adds to the damage. What a lethal class. Excellent for gameplay.

Maybe I will try an archer in DA:I. the only game I enjoyed archery in was skyrim but that was just because it was really fun to be a stealthy archer.  My char still used daggers though.

But the game isn't built just for you.

Sure the game may not be your style of game in which case you don't have to play it and in fact playing it if you don't like the idea of some of the core game play would be "irrational behavior"

Archery tree looks like it's set for huge alpha damage. I wonder if Full Draw would be able to OHK at least basic level-appropriate enemies, with specific passives?

First of all, thanks to all the awesome people posting screen caps of skills. My inner OCD minmaxer thanks you.

Putting on my premature min/max hat for a second:
Does anyone else think that Sabotage will provide FAR more dps than subterfuge? Sabotage has single-target DoTs, AoE DoTs, a skill that causes enemies who die while poisoned to spread moar DoTs to those around them. Plus armor penetration. All subterfuge has is crowd control and burst attacks.
From past RPG experience, DoTs and armor penetration will provide more dps than burst attacks. The one down side to this sort of dps is that it is usually bad against mobs of enemies. But with the plethora of AoE DoTs, I can't imagine making a rogue without sabotage. And when you include archery/DD and a specialization tree, I don't see any of my rogue Inqusitors taking subterfuge.

Looks like we have the answer to "Why is Fade Step in Winter".

I still gotta get the upgrade that reduces the cooldown. I just needed Fade Step to freeze people first.
