Yeah, I know it's text. This is why they added icons into DA2 cause text just can't do it with out descriptors you know? Why I'm happy they're extending the icons. Glad they got a toggle for all those people who like to just wing it but I like knowing the actual intent of the line outside of a little quip lol. In some other thread someone said they should just start talking like an Elcor heh. Sure would help sometimes ![]()

They're doing another multiplayer stream on Wednesday, and this time, it will apprently feature different characters.
Which means that we MIGHT get to see new abilities. Which MIGHT mean the necromancer.

Firestorm is a focus ability for the Rift Mage specialization.

We'll be seeing the reaver for sure. I just hope they switch the classes up this time. Also what happened to the Arcane Warrior hype?

How did Vivienne do it? Or they decided latter?

They asked, via twitter i think, what we wanted them to play on the next stream so if Necro was a popular request, which i think it would be, the chances should be pretty decent.

I think there was a lot of shuffling around. She also used Stonefist in the E3 demo, but Stonefist is also a Rift Mage ability, and Viv is a Knight Enchanter, so she can't learn it.

Well they did that for every companion up until the abilities and specializations were finalized.
Iron Bull had Templar abilities in past gameplays but he's in no way a Templar.
Dorian and Vivienne both had Stone Fist once upon a time but since then it's been incorporated as a Rift Mage ability.

I'm just not sure what to make of this. Separate the story and gameplay completely in my mind, or say start considering Hawke a rift mage, or retcon Hawke as he never knew those spells.. etc.

Rift mage Hawke sounds cool.
or maybe have him / her as a mix.
Say see Hawke cast veilstrike, fade cloak, walking bomb, winters grasp, immolate and chain lightning, barrier.

I'd like it if a Blood Mage Hawke was recognised. Then we could say "You're a blood mage?", and Hawke, drenched in blood, would reply "You'd be surprised at how few people notice".

Or he'd just casually explain that he's from Kirkwall, because everybody practices blood magic there.

Have all my favourite spells from Origins gone? Crushing Prison - gone, Petrify - ?, Paralyse - ?, Horror - ?, Misdirection Hex - ?, Stone Fist - ?, Group Heal - gone, Virulent Walking Bomb - ?, combo spell of Paralysis and Repulsion glyphs - gone. Specialisation of Arcane Warrior = ? half gone, Battle Mage = ?, Spirit Healer = gone.
I really hope they have some spectacular spells and Specialisations to replace these.
Also just read they removed heal spells to stop spamming, and replaced with buff spells you spam instead? Huh?

In a way alot of those abilities have been wrapped up in others. Lightning Bolt also is paralyze, and frost glyph is basically just paralysis glyph. There is a rogue ability, I think in the Artificer tree, that is basically repulsion glyph. Fear spells are a part of some fire spells now.

Also, there is a group heal it's just tied to focus. Resurgence heals everyone to full, including fallen companions (that is, it revives and heals them to full), then leaves behind a healing glyph that last 10 seconds healing per second depending how much focus you had (3 tiers, or bars) at the time of casting. Basic ones pretty weak, single bar and it's like 2% max life, tier 3 is 25% though which is kinda absurd. You could revive and fight on that glyph and practically be immortal for 10 seconds lol.
But yeah all the effects are still there, just not the same spells. Also, Petrify and Paralyze are identical spell effects with a different coat of paint, same as freezing an enemy. Instead of waiting on that guide, take a look at this - http://imgur.com/a/DzqMh - It's all of the base skills in the game for all 3 classes. Also a little info on the Knight Enchanter (which is where resurgence is... i think, that could still be picked via some other method).

Just saw the grapple skill, looks remarkably like the Harpoon skill for Kingdoms of Amalur, If they could do this why couldn't they do they swarm/grapple move you can do with your character in Dragons Dogma? If you haven't played it - you and your followers can climb onto large foes and stab/attack them? It would have been a magnificent sight in this franchise to see your team clambering over Ogres and Dragons as they attempted to buck off attackers. Maybe next instalment.

You know what I still miss?
There are no abilities in the warrior trees anywhere like assault or assail (i LOVED this, enemies flying back with every sword attack
), as were in the vanguard tree in DAII.
I kind of miss those. I had hoped they would be in the reaver tree, but it seems like they're not. Maybe they are more something champion-y? That'd make me doubt if I might want to be a champion instead of a reaver >_>
