My necromancer and archer tempest will most likely be human. With the options available to mages and rogues i need all the skill points i can get
Daggers tempest will be a dwarf.
Seeing Sera in German actually seems fun. I didn't know what she was saying, but I could see her VA and persona shine through.http://m.youtube.com...h?v=rq22IdmwGlQ
in this video Sera is controlled...tempest skills available....and they're not used.
So for knight enchanter....should i pick qunari for the melee defence bonus or human for an extra point?

I'm picking human for both my Knight Enchanter and Tempest. There are just so many good options that I want every point I can get. I had intended to play an elf for my Tempest...but there are just too many things I want lol.
do we know if there is an upgrade for spirit blade? cuz in some videos it's this small sweeping arc but in the ign video it was this HUGE green greatsword looking thing
the upgrade allows the knight enchanter to reflect enemy spells and dragon SPIT (not breath) attacks with the sword.do we know if there is an upgrade for spirit blade? cuz in some videos it's this small sweeping arc but in the ign video it was this HUGE green greatsword looking thing

ah, i forgot. i guess that changes the look of the sword too.

Does it? I assumed we just never got a clear view before in that one twitch stream.

i don't know, the twitch steam looked very much like just a small curved blade, almost like a boomerang, whereas the one viv does in the ign video is huge and looks nothing like what was on the stream unless the cnaged the animation after the stream

Thanks for the responses.
So I basically want the entirety of the Storm tree, then about seven from the Spirit tree (mostly utility; Barrier, Dispel, etc), and all I really want from the Winter tree is Fade Step and Winter Stillness. That will leave the rest of my points to go into the Knight Enchanter tree. If I end up wanting to invest more into it, I'll take some points from Storm or Spirit. But, yeah, I'm definitely going for a heavy DPS and utility build, with a focus on Storm for damage and Spirit and Knight Enchanter for their utility, though I'm not focusing on healing, so I won't be taking any of the Spirit healing/revive spells, or the ones in the Knight Enchanter tree. I'll leave those for Dorian.
I adore Sera. She will probably be one of my most popular party companions next to Varric (Cole will be a source of interest for my necromancer).
That and....she has Tempest skills![]()

When I play mage, I tend to have one warrior, rogue, and additional mage. I may mix the teams up, depending on assignments and mix desire for banter. I'd love Sera on a team with Blackwall, and Vivienne.
I made a post several pages ago, let me count the actual points up.
8 from spirit, extra points needed for the final 2 passives
12 from storm, will be my main elemental style
2 from ice, just the fade step stuff
10 from knight enchanter (skipping the healing spell from this tree)
...32 points. Think I'll get enough points to do that?

maybe, but only at the very end of the game. I would try to cut at least a few points off.
By the way, I don't like the chaotic focus ability in fire. It drains your barrier, the thing keeping you alive, for damage... And it looks to be a passive. So every time you cast a fire spell, your damage protection drops. Whether you like it or not. Imagine if nova in ME3 activated on its own without your input, and you didn't have charge to restore it freely. Not fun.

I'm so torn between two different builds now. Bolded Mapped
or
By the way does anyone else think it's odd that strength of the spritits is the only passive we've seen that doesn't give any attribute points?
maybe, but only at the very end of the game. I would try to cut at least a few points off.
I will prioritize. I'll make sure that the most important things are learned early and that only the semi-useful stuff will be learned late game. And it might not be the end of the game, I know many games where I hit the level cap long before the game is finished. Like Fallout games or ME2 and ME3. Never happened in DA before, but DAI is different enough that we might be able to max out before the end.
That tends to be my usual party composition too.
For my Knight Enchanter, I will have a tank, an archer and a support mage, whilst i provide secondary barrier support, healing via resurgence and melee combat.
With my tempest, if i decide i prefer archery over daggers, i will probably use more melee focused group, say Iron Bull, Vivienne and Cassandra/ Blackwall. I can pepper enemies with arrows of elemental goodness.
I really hope tempest is more than 3 different elemental flasks
I hope the passives are nice... I'll only take an active, plus the focus ability, two at the most and interchange them...
And that focus skill... I knew it was familiar! It was in the DD tree before... so maybe focus talents are weapon-oriented, or they change, but the icon is the same, so I'd say they took the ability straight from that tree, as they did with the mage's focus talents

Know what id like to see? A flask of elemental chaos.
Would fit the flavour of the Tempest spec.
But yeah....i think it may be a flask for each element. Which im okay with, but i hope the passives really make it work and shine.
Patrick Weekes said the spec gets more powerful the deeper you go, so its really got me intrigued
I think it may have 3 paths, in the layout of the tree, one per element? because why would someone want the 3 flasks if you can only select 8 active abilities? xD
So far, I like the passive we've seen in MP (it's from Tempest tree, Sera has it in one of the vids) but I don't know... I was thinking to go Tempest all the way, but if it's just coating your weapons with ice/fire/lightning (I wish we could throw the flasks instead), I may go Assassin...
Yeah I managed to peep one of Sera's Tempest actives is a flask with a lightning bolt on it.
Even though the description says fire and frost, I guess all 3 of the elemental flasks will be incorporated.
So 3 of the 4 actives of tempest will be flasks that you buff your weapon with. Doesn't sound that interesting tbh, but it does sound very powerful IF IT STACKS. If it doesn't...I don't know. I don't see what the point would be to heavily invest in all of them if you can only use one at a time. It reminds me of the really poorly made Specialist Rogue tree of DA:2. Here's hoping it isn't.
Here's also hoping the focus ability of Tempest has something to do with an attack speed/elemental damage buff. That would really make Tempest be a strong contender against Assassin.
And here's hoping the elemental buffs have status effects as well! Maybe an upgraded Fire Flask can incite panic into enemies, Frost can chill and progressively freeze them into place, Lightning can shock and possibly paralyze. Now THAT would be f**king cool.
