@ LexXxich : While that's possible they've already stated the dodge is a skill and we've seen it in skill trees before. Doubt it's been completely changed out and we know, for a fact, there is no dedicated 'dodge button. In the stage demo they have dodge bound to the B button. Though I gadda say I didn't see what they used for that block. That could easily be a passive - % chance to block an attack int he 2H tree or something.

Considering people are getting a chance to actually play the game, I hope much like the last one - some person took a ton of notes about the skills. Cause I would LOVE to see those notes.

Just got online, going through all the info now. I'll screen and add the new skill tree stuff shortly.

Yeah sadly I think we only saw the 2H tree in any detail, but it went down the right column and some of them where sexeh. The 2nd passive (last passive in the line) gives 10% stamina back for every additional target you hit past the 1st. :o Who's up for some group murderin'? I AM! I AM!

Those 2 handed skills look tasty.  Maybe I'll forget all this magic nonsense and pick up a greatsword for my first run.

OK, OP updated.

My second playthrough will be a 2h warrior so I am glad to see how fun this play style looks. Definitely an improvement from previous games. I dunno why but I felt weaker than I should as a 2h in DA2 despite the abilities looking allot cooler.

Interesting! That block like-skill looks very... active-sustained. I doubt it's an actual sustained, obviously, but it looks like perhaps we hold it down? It's consuming stamina per second anyway. That's interesting 'and' its a 2H Skill! Also, I dunno about you guys, but that one tree looks super similar to that Mark of the Rift skill. I wonder if its a 5th tab for Inquisitors only? Or perhaps we just all get that skill, or we get freebe-skills based off are choices. But yeah, green, inquisition icon, definitely seems like a player only tab based around there green mark. Wouldn't mind it being given skills (not a skill tree) based off story progress... reminds me of Baldur's Gate if they went that way but I'd love a unique skill tree that's there for all quisys.

-edit-

Actually, I bet you the block/counter skill is activate to sit there in a counter state til you do something else. In which case it's a sustained with a force-off condition of doing anything but having it go. Super interesting either way if you ask me.

Oop's I forgot to do a screen with that one in view, I'll just remedy that now.

That's usually where the spec goes if you look at the shots with the Reaver spec in them but It doesn't look like at all like a Champion or a Templar symbol so I am inclined to agree with you on that. Which would mean they have changed it again or maybe that Inquisitor hasn't chosen a spec despite being level nine.

I don't think it's a matter of changed it or not. They've been cagy and winky eyed at us about 'yeah wouldn't it be cool if you got some kinda powers from the mark?'. I mean they've been hinting we get 'something' other then just closing those rifts and story points you know? I always assumed it was going to be via something else, like something you do via the keep or something for some reason. But then... maybe it's a 10th spec that all classes can use and it's a choice you get instead of a specialization?

Is it just me, or does every new convention simply being more and more questions to are growing list of 'but-whats that mean?!'. As an aside, I was happy to see the attribute system, remember someone wondering about that awhile go. can't remember if we've seen it in past videos, but looks like they all return in some capacity so wootles to that.

Well that rift ability has to come from somewhere right.  :P

I am also wondering how the out of combat skills work. It sounded like there were whole trees to do with out of combat abilities, expanding your inquisition and upgrading skyhold.

Yeah that fuzzy chart we saw that showed all manner of catagories for exploration tied with each class and all the other stuff. We're gonna be customizing the crap outa all manner of stuff. I do love me some customization. :D

Hm... Combat Roll costs a fair bit of stamina, so it looks like you can't spam it.  I wonder how effective it will be?  Will we be invincible during the roll, and how far will you travel?  Is it multi-directional (including diagonals)?

Block and Slash reminds me of a less powerful version of the Masterful Kill ability from Dragon's Dogma.  Or... do you see that it has no cooldown at all?  Wouldn't that be pretty easy to abuse during combat?  I get the feeling that this ability will be patched if they leave it in the game without giving it a cooldown... maybe I'm overestimating it.

From what we've seen in videos, looks like it's a short roll. Probably the general length of a human body laying down. The Rogue had one where they leap forward into a roll which seemed to move them much, much further. And we've heard (or seen, I forget) of mages getting a (fake)Teleport that lets them invisibly/hasted move from one point to another to avoid danger. I would imagine your immune during the bulk of the animation, at least at the first part to be able to avoid damage.

As for Block and Slash no, if you read it, it consumes stamina per second. I doubt you can do 'anything' while its active. You take a defensive stance and don't do anything till you stop using or till you block. Basically its a full defensive mode, meaning you can't do square while your using it. Abusing it, would ultimately destroy your Warriors DPS while constantly draining your stamina. That's.. that's not really what I'd consider OP. Then again I also kinda feel it just drains stamina till you block a single attack then deactivates. Again, your doing nothing till you block said attack so DPS loss for the sake of blocking a single attack. I'd also imagine some larger attacks (such as Ogre 2-arm slam or bullrush, or boulder throwing) can't be block/countered like that.

Now if it was a sustained that allowed you to auto-attack and make attacks while consuming small bits of stamina, then pairing it with the group combat stamina gain from hits (10% per additional target past 1st you hit, so 2nd, 3rd so on) I could see that being EXTREMELY overpowered. But doesn't seem to be how it works from what I could see.

Some pictures of the new Warrior Skills and their upgrades.

The first two are upgrades for the classic “Whirlwind”

Shattered Ground is an upgrade for Earthshaking Strike.

Did those upgrade pics come from the demo?

I'm desperately hoping somebody at least takes notes (but pictures would be awesome-er) on the other abilities. I would be happy if we just knew the names of the main trees we get.

Yes, they came from the demo. I had to pause it very quickly to get those snapshots.

@themageguy : That man, that right there is what im talking about with more interesting and tactical spells. Everything we've seen so fars just more interesting on an individual spell by spell basis then past games. At least it has been to me, that spell really lets you lock an area around to keep enemies in. You could make a Knight Enchanter, and while they may not get a taunt they can lock shiit in around them with that cage and go to town.

Between all of that + the new story trailer I really need this game already. Waitings such a pain in the butt, with all its not doing stuff and whatnot. :P

I know right? Its a brilliant spell for a knight enchanter!
Its like the love child of mass effects singularity and submission net :D

Hah, yeah for sure man. I also like what im seeing with the combos. It's also very more Mass Effect 3 oriented after the patch. Well, like the tech powers are now. That is, some skills seem to be detonators and others cause some kind of condition that primes them. So like if you freeze and enemy that's a CC condition (cold based) that any skill that gets a combo bonus can trigger for the shadder + the skills bonus dmg. If any enemy runs into that static line they get shocked, causing an electrical explosion effect (seen it a few times, not sure if it does DMG or not).

Anyway, seems due to that universal nature it's not all 'only rogues can trigger warrior stuff and only warrior can trigger mage stuff and... bizar line of thinking from DA2. It's now everyone can trigger or get those effects. So a Knight Enchanter (hopefully) has some melee abilities they can use them selves to set off they're own status effects. Or use to set off others and all that goodness.

Can't wait to get my hands on this game, I wants it so bad.

Pause it quickly? You need to get greasemonkey and get the download Youtube videos as MP4 script, then get an older version of KMplayer (newer versions are crap and filled with annoying stuff like ads, my version that runs perfect is 3.5.0.77) and use its frame step frame-by-frame to get to exactly where you want and click the "screen capture: what you see" thing to download a pic of that exact frame. Rapid pausing is such a less... Efficient option.

Why? It's as simple as downloading a Youtube video by clicking the download button, playing the video in KMplayer and using frame-by-frame to get to the exact moment you want, and click a single button to download what you see as a PNG or JPG (forger which). It's quick and simple.

Interesting that damage for special abilities is solely a % of weapon dmg as opposed to a base dmg. i hope this doesn't mean I will have to use the most powerful weps to make a dent in high level baddies. My favorite weps in past games have never been the best as far as base dmg goes.

Lol, all I did was watch the vid, pause at certain points and take a screenshot. Much less effort on my part lol
