There is a Champion skill called "Line In The Sand" but the video only shows the name of the skill sadly. At 2:30

Are there any spoilers in the gameplay vid that briefly showcases Tempest and Champion? I swear I'm not watching anything without verification now considering my recent spoilery incident.

Focus ability for Champion is called Counterstrike.

Focus ability for Tempest is called Thousand Cuts.

I think we can assume what they are based on their names.

Um I can't be sure but I don't think so. At the end of one of them there is some area/quest stuff though so there is potential spoilers there but I just didn't read any of it.

Man...I figured a lot of people probably wouldn't roll with Blackwall or Cole. But damnit...I want my skill trees!

Does Battle Standard (or what ever it's been renamed too) used by Cassandra in the pax 2013 video look like the bottom right Champion ability to anyone else?

Ahahahaha

I guess I'm the only one who find it funny that Champion has a skill named after a mp FPS game and Tempest have a call back to Jade Empire...

So if you look at the bottom right of the Champion skill tree, you'll see a little tower icon. You know what that reminds me of from over a year ago?

21:37

Cassandra uses a move called "Battle Standard." We don't know what exactly it did, but it looked to be a party wide buff of some sort. Maybe that made its way to Champion? Or maybe Cassandra was originally designed to be a Champion.

It has to be in Champion, it's not anywhere else except the MP Legionnaire right now.

Oh, come on!!! I can't believe none of the reviewers realize one of the most important things to have for fans are the complete skill trees to plan our builds! We want those spec trees already!!!

The passive on the lower right side of the Champion tree (above what we presume to be called Battle Standard) is called Unyielding. Has an active effect in battle of some sort

2:01

And a Tempest passive revealed "Killer's Alchemy". Looks like it stacks.

3:06

OOOOOH SUPER COOL. It looks like Walking Bomb can be detonated on and off by your choice! Like a toggle!

Pay attention to 4:59 - 5:05. When he casted Walking Bomb, it didn't trigger a cooldown but rather highlighted the icon. Then he pressed the button it was mapped to again and it exploded. So the explosion can be prematurely detonated by your hand it seems!

And finally towards the end we see Spirit Mark and some actual necromancy. Looks pretty awesome. Didn't seem like there was a time limit actually to the effect...I guess your spirit sticks around until you banish it. Awesome!

I hope there'll be a more "holy mage-y" specialization in expansions. Knight Enchanter somewhat qualifies I suppose.

Next week we get to embark on our Inquisition playthroughs.  I'm looking forward to hearing how we've all progressed.

That Tempest specialization looks good.

It definitely seems we can detonate walking bomb as we want. I suppose the reason for not doing it straight away is to tick up some DOT.

Necromancer is looking sweet. The only concern i have for the spec is that the spirit that mimics enemies upon death doesn't seem too proactive?
That ign video had a similar looking issue.

I'm still a little underwhelmed by Rift and Tempest. Funny how they were the most mysterious specializations offered, but they don't look to be too interesting in comparison, at least to me.

Need to see both in action.

If anything, it'll be good cannon fodder :)

I wonder if high level enemies are immune.

In the teamcoco stream with Freddie Prinze Jr., Dorian cast an Ice Wall and we haven't seen that for a loooooooooong time.

It didn't last long. It was shattered by those ground explosions from the Fade Rift. Interestingly, however, it exploded in segments. I wonder if enemies will be able to break the wall with normal attacks?

Still excited for Wall of Ice.

<p>

ok a few notes:

  • I like the new Templar approach: from a mage killing machine to an all around party booster with extra juice vs demons
  • they need to clarify the skill descriptions (blessed blades 15% against all and bonus vs demons? if so how much?)
  • i need to know if passives stack. If I have 2 templars in the party do I get 20% elemental resistance and 10% weaken chance for each attack for each party member? Because that would be amazing
  • Necro class is amazing if only for the name. If it was "Spirirt SHaman" or something it would be much more fitting. Same as with the focus ability

okay this is annoying me.

In dragon age, necromancers are spirit binders. Their magic involves SPIRITS, not rotting corpses.
A spirit is bound to a corpse in funeral rituals that honor the deceased. They will not be binding a spirit to an enemies corpse- they will curse it into an explosive weapon!

They do have an ability that does DoT damage and if you kill the enemy in time a spirit possess the enemy corpse for a short duration.

So Necromancers do in fact have undead minions, their just a little tricky to get and short lived.

Having watch the team coco stream with Freddie, Two handed weapons seem to have a lot of base damage. Hence, why the two handed skill tree seems to have low damage multipliers because every two handed attack already does a ton of damage.

I wish that would appease the unhappy with necromancy crowd :( i on the other hand, love dragon age necromancy :D

And you're right two handed weapons are pretty damn awesome.

A two handed templar with all those buffs seem a pretty nice way to go with that spec.

I wish we could see some tempest in action.
:(
