Wow they really did a reboot on Stonefist. It is absolutely nothing what it used to be. BioWare's identity crisis when it comes to Dragon Age is outstanding.

..Not that I'm really complaining. It is a very nice, more powerful change mind you :P

In a lot of ways, I think the damage increase makes sense. I mean, getting hit by a boulder flying at high speeds would seriously leave a mark. Fire probably wouldn't nearly as much.

Having ideas for my build (Human Female Mage w/ Rift Mage)

1: Flashfire, Chain Lightning (Default)

2: Fade Step, Winter's Grasp (Human Bonus)

3: Frost Mastery, Re-spec: Flashire exchanged for Winter's Grasp upgrade.

4: Arcing Surge

5: Frost Step Upgrade (for some damage)

6: Lightning Bolt

7: Winter Stillness

8: Stormbringer

9: Wall of Ice

10: Gathering Storm

11: Ice Mine

12: (Rift Mage unlocked around now?) Stonefist

13: Static Cage

14: Ice Armor

15: Blizzard

16: Lightning Cage

17: Stonefist upgrade (?)

18: Glacial Strength

19: Ice Storm

20: Firestorm

Extras: I'll delve further into Rift Mage if I get extra points, and possible further into Storm. Essentially, I see my PC as a mage focused on a strategy of aggressive damage mixed (and often directly combined -ice and lightning) with control.

Mapped: That will give me a total of 10 active abilities and 8 slots; I'm not scared of switching things out, but will likely have standards. On an average adventure at full abilities:

1: Winter's Grasp

2: Chain Lightning

3: Stonefist

4: Fade Step

Set 2

1: Blizzard

2: Static Cage

3: Lightning Bolt

4: Wall of Ice

Ice Mine will probably be brought in when I feel like it or when I need to set up paralysis traps for a particular encounter, though I can also see it taking Wall of Ice's place if that proves more situational. I can see myself getting rid of Ice Mine for Energy Barrage if it's not as good as I hope it will be, but the upgrade to freeze duration from Frost Mastery ought to work well. Firestorm will rarely be mapped since I won't likely need it except for particular encounters (I'm looking at you, Mistral Dragon).

Quick question.

Anyone know if as an Artificer Archer we can place traps "away" from our character? Same goes for the caltrops ability.

As in, I'm in the back and "throw" the traps (X) meters away from me.

The answer to this would greatly help me plan my dwarf archer. (On the fence between this and Tempest)

I know you can't throw Caltrops where you want them, they just spew out where you are standing.

Don't know for sure about traps but my guess is you would kneel down and place them.

Sounds like I'd want Stealth then to place my traps maybe?

Is it really? The bottom-most ability's secondary upgrade is still unknown to me.

Actually there is a skill called Throw Everything.

It uses all your stamina and it says "The more stamina you have the more traps you "throw", so maybe you can throw them normally.

Yeah... Now I'm very glad I made the thread I did a few minutes ago. I'm tired of this being an Easter Egg hunt, we need all of this on a single page.

Some thoughts on Assassin:

Mark of Death is basically Zeds ultimate "Death Mark" from league of legends which i find hilarious. Regarding the DAI ability it looks super useful only 10 stamina for an ability that literally doubles the damage dealt within 8 seconds which sounds incredibly powerful.

And hidden blades sounds very damaging especially if used on a target marked for death im just hoping it works at range for archery.

Assassin

Spoiler

Looking at assassin, the skills are quite useful for single target. Sadly the Focus skill isn't quite useful unless players enjoy the temporary Perm Cloak for 3 - 9 seconds on all party members.

Weapon, Armor, and Accessories upgrades/runes.

At least both seem to regenerate a LOT faster than the previous 2 games...

Yep, that's the balancing factor. Among many other huge changes.

Kind of reminds me of the Wizard's "Arcane" Resource in Diablo 3. Not sure if you're familiar with it. Basically your resource (basically mana) doesn't actually increase at all through level ups, but it recharges super quickly allowing a constant flow of spells.

Currently redoing all of my Mage builds (Inquisitor and Companions). Had a few realizations. I used to think having more status effect spells would make my Mages more flexible and versatile, thus making them more efficient. That is still very true, but judging from the various gameplays we've seen over the past 2 weeks, I see that it's not long necessary.

I used to outfit all my Mage builds with at least 2 stun spells, 1 elemental wall, and 1 elemental mine. This includes necessities like Barrier and Dispel. Now I'm taking out a lot of those and adding in spells like Immolate and Chain Lightning.

I admit I wasn't a fan of Immolate or Chain Lightning for a long time. They looked very weak and underwhelming in earlier gameplays. Now as we see raw gameplay from reviews and users, I see that's not the case. Especially Immolate, which has surprised me greatly with its flexibility, spammablity, and DoT.

I feel like every mage should have a pure damage dealing spell for them to spam as much as they can. Immolate, Stonefist, and Chain Lightning are such spells.

So Warriors only have a single offensive specialization? That kinda sucks. They could have easily made the Templar tree a mix of buffing, utility and DPS.

Guys... dragon rage has no cooldown...

This makes it completely spammable, but the real fantasticness is this:

Consider, 2Handed reaver: Normally, your basic attacks hit multiple enemies. When you're faced with a singular more powerful enemy though, you could switch to dragon rage, and spam that instead. At any time your health falls dangerously low, use devour. With ring of pain, devour is a lot more spammable, and if you have warrior's resolve, as you lose health, you regain stamina.

Hmm, I do wonder one thing though, as ring of pain costs 10 stamina per second to sustain, how are you ever going to use devour? :/

I mean... Activate ring of pain, use devour and you only have like 2 seconds of ring of pain left... Unless you can abuse gore and trample for devour... But still, even using any other ability then would seriously reduce the effectiveness of ring of pain. If your stamina pool remains at 100, ring of pain isn't really sustainable imho...

My main concern is: how much does ring of pain limit your other abilities? to me it kind of looks like it neuters you... or it should be used in short bursts, but that's a hassle :/ I'm kind of hoping for devour to have some kind of upgrade which eliminates the stamina cost if you heal, say, above 30% of your life (upgrade could be called hungry :P )

Here is my poorly put together album of all the known spec abilities. Hopefully someone *looks at Astrolabe* will do a better job.

i was watching the ign video, and left to her own devices, she was smacking enemies with that spirit blade. It looked brilliant. And amazingly, she needed very little management on his behalf. I was impressed.

Firestorm looks great. If it's an aoe, all 50 won't hit the same target though.

Pull of the Abyss + Firestorm sounds like great way to keep them in that aoe, at least.
