I was completely uninterested in Necromancer, until I saw the tree. Stacking Dots with fire mage is now so tempting, and god forbid putting enemies in a walking bomb + static cage combo (FF ON). Having Mimic spirits be something different every time you use it gives the class some fun flavor in various enemy encounters which I just love. May make a third playthrough just for this class alone.

I don't know if I should put Gravitic Ring in my KE build. It's Not a problem of points (I think that with a bit of grinding it won't be too hard to reach level 24 before the end of the main quest. That means 25 points, 27 with a human background and a perk), but because between the tree KE spells, the focus spell and barrier I'll have only 3 Slots left.

TBH, i don't think i will be putting any points into that skill. I will have Vivienne use it to test how applicable it is in combat, and if it does prove an excellent skill, my KE might choose it at later levels.
But its not an immediate must have for me

26 points with human, they only get 1 bonus points, not 2.

My current idea for a KE doesn't involve the spell. I'm sure its useful for CC but the few things I wanna do with KE (few builds I have in mind, I mean) just wont make much use of it. That said a Pyro-KE I could see making some good use of it. I mean throw it in a group, they can't move... get high barriers with Chaotic Focus and fire mine the bastards with it. Fully upgraded it slows them by 99%, which is barely moving for 5 seconds, they might as well be immobile. After that 5 seconds is up, you have 5 more seconds of the 50% half reduction.

Currently I'm wondering if, with FF on, will Static Cage also effect friendlies? Lightning has been, more or less, always FF friendly so... I kinda hope so. One of my KE ideas is kinda druidy in thought and a Static Cage would fit nicely to fight in with Spirit Blade, adding 50% bonus dmg with it while keeping enemies locked in an area. Course that whole idea of a Pyro-KE making use of Chaotic Focus sounds pretty fun too.

Frankly, I'm at a loss of what to do, and I'm low on names... I have a feeling I'll be re-using em for different setups. Ahh well... wonder what Vivienne's personality is in relation to her preferred element? Hope I get an idea sometime in game. I mean I immediately think Ice cause of her perceived personality but she might really just like burning **** you know? Hope I find out early, or I'll feel the need to respec her on first playthrough.

I'm not getting all the tempest hate.  The abilities look interesting and powerful.  Flask of fire, flask of lightening, and that Focus ability! Dear lord!

The only concern I have is that the flask cooldowns seem very long.

I'm waiting to see the upgrades cause they massively overhaul every ability we've seen.

Does anyone know whether you take FF aoe damage while in stealth.  If not I think the assassin focus could be ridiculously strong.

So guys, if I have that knight enchanter thing that restores my barrier for 30% damage dealt, and then I have that fire mastery that consumes 50% of my current barrier to empower my fire spells damage. Does that mean that I have perma increased fire damage that scales with with itself?

Only love and curiosity for the tempest here ;)

Flask of fire is simply amazing for its knockback and ability to use skills at no stamina cost.

My personal favourite is flask of frost. Seems to really compliment a daggers tempest. 85% damage resistance is insane and the ability to freeze enemies for a second that hit you is literally cool.

Like you, my only real concern is the cool down times ......

However, i think another concern is how well the AI can utilise those elixirs

I think the only reason people are upset with Tempest is a lot of us where expecting more... elemental effects considering the skill names. Flask of Fire has... nothing to do with fire. That said it's all pretty powerful. I mean Tempest get's a personal, shorter slightly weaker version of 'haste'. That's pretty crazy, except it only helps the tempest in question. I'd probably leave it off Sera, while powerful, I don't wanna have her just slowing my party down so she can do a bit more dmg.

They're definitely more universal then people where thinking though, but then people where expecting some kinda AoE dmg tick thing. I'm liking the specialization but I don't think it fits the ideas I had for my archer so I'm thinking of changing some specializations around again. Not sure any of the specializations fit my current archer, to be honest.

It's kinda like I wanted my Elf, Eilavian, to be a Necro... but also kinda wanted to go elementally (my druid spec) and just thematically it didn't mesh the way I wanted. So I converted him to my 'ranger' and swapped necro for KE on my other character. It's one reason I don't wanna just 'toss assassin' on on the archer. Would be great for damage, but thematically it just feels as wrong as tagging a druidic concept with a Necromancer.

Is it really? The bottom-most ability's secondary upgrade is still unknown to me.

There's a Inquisition perk that grants you another talent. That's why I said 27.

So does anyone the level-cap? I'd like to the minimum of skill points we'll get so I can start creating my character build.

No one has been hitting the hard-cap.

Most people finished the game at lvl 18ish though.

Considering it's a rogue skill, that "haste" skill could probably be considered momentum's return from DAO... Just in a slightly different form, not as a sustained but as an activated ability with a time limit. Like haste in DA2, actually. In fact, that will be my name for it if I ever pick that spec. Kinda like how I call "flashbang grenades" in ME2 "damping", because that pretty much was ME2's version of that power.

It does. The point of assassins focus is that enemies will take damage while ignoring your party, while getting up to nine seconds of critical damage from rogues with stealth bonuses.

A reviewer was near level 24 after finishing all the content in the game). Grinding might grant to you some levels.
As I said, I think With grinding I can reach level 24 before the end the end of the main quest. Which means 25-26 points, 26-27 with the Inquisition perk.

And necromancer is trolling. Haha, I scared you! Haha, you killed me and I'm still kicking your ass! Haha, I killed you and now you're fighting for me! Haha, I used your body to blow up all your friends!

I'm picking KE first, but necomancer looks like fun. So yeah, KE=god mode tank, rift mage=raw killing power, necomancer=trolling enemies to death.

Anyone else notice the synergy between Rift mage and Templar. Templar has a passive that gives all party attacks a 5% chance to cause weakened and Rift Mage is very much built around utilizing the weakened status effect.

@The Elder King: Ahh gotcha

As for level cap - there isn't one. And 'all the people' finishing it at lvl 18 are reviewers rushing frantically to get to the end of the game. We've seen SS of people at lvl 27, and we've been told 25-30 if you work at it. I can bet you I'll manage a bit past 30 after 150-ish hours...

Man, I'm torn between Champion and Templar for my sword & shield Inquisitor. Normally I'd be inclined to go Champion, but I feel like the Sword & Shield and Vanguard trees will already make him tanky enough that I don't need to. Plus, Blackwall will be in my party for my second playthrough and I don't plan on ever using Cassandra, so I might not get to experience Templar otherwise.

What are you guys planning to do on your tanks?
