Why do rogues have access to 2 versions of Sleep (Knockout Powder/Knockout Bomb)? Seems a bit redundant.
I guess one is a aoe and the other is single target. but I agree with you.

Yeah. They could have made the AOE version an upgrade or something.
The Assassin spec seems pretty meh to be honest - where's my Assassinate?

That's the same thing I'm wondering. But assassin was very OP in DA2, so I guess they nuffed it quite a bit. I can still work with it and I find it better than articifer and tempest skill trees, but that's just me.

I think hidden blades is the new Assassinate. At 'base' it's an instant 900% dmg. No idea what it's upgrade does, but I'd imagine it makes it more potent. A lot of these upgrades are rather drastic. Also, while the new Marked for Death works differently this time, it ultimately doubles all dmg at base this time, instead of needing an upgrade for it. And again, we have no idea what it's upgrade is, least that I've seen. So... again it'll do something extra or be more potent - or both - from what we're seeing.

I wouldn't overlook Marked for Death Mikey. At base it stores up 100% of all damage done to the target for 8 seconds, then does all of that dmg again. It's basically double dmg for 8 seconds... that's insane. Gonna be nice vs dragons. Hidden Blades is a quick 900% weapon dmg (use that after marking heh...). Knock out bomb... is... redundant I guess? It's an awful lot like sleeping powder. I'm sure something makes it better then knock out powder but meh... kinda crappy to see a near duplicate skill considering how different a lot of these skills are.
Either way, Marked for Death and hidden Blades is still crazy good.
True, I'm not saying it looks terrible, just that in DA2 it was probably the best spec in terms of usefulness and if it was like that in this game I may have found it hard to justify not bringing Cole. I am more interested in Sera though and Tempest offers other benefits.
Post your build if your developing it, I'd like to see what you're thinking
Well, I can try, it's mostly just a general idea though. ![]()

Mark of Death is pretty incredible imo.
Consider this rotation to take out a priority elite at the start of a battle.
Mark of Death > Full draw (1600% dmg) > Auto attack> Hidden Blades (900% dmg) > Auto attack > Auto attack > Long Shot (800%) > Death Mark Proc.
6900% weapon damage.

It looks like Reaver + Vanguard can be exploited as a tanking class.
Fight until low health, then use guard abilities.
You will have all the reaver low life bonuses, without low life being a threat.
When guard breaks, or is near breaking - use life leech / devour / rampage to heal to full.
Rince and repeat.

Don't forget Stealth there Dunbartacus, 50% base bonus dmg on Full Draw 'and' it's an auto crit. 15% bonus dmg from hp80%+ passive aaand your looking at 2640% dmg on that full draw... some dirty dmg right there man.
-edit-
@SomeoneStoleMyName: Yeah that's my general idea for my main character. Though Devour isn't a full heal anymore, or at least with out upgrade it's not. On the plus side it'll always heal (at base, no upgrade) for 20% of your missing health. So you know, that's nice. I intend to keep building guard as much as possible though. Use Dragon-Rage to lower my HP while my guards still up... gonna be a lot of timed counter attacks.

Also, think about "Boss fights". The boss typically goes into Super Sayen kill everything mode when it's at low health. Precisely when Deathblow hits hardest. In Vanilla Wow, Warriors were overpowered against raid bosses because they could spam execute for the last x percent of the bosses life. Well Deathblow is execute only better.

Thanks
forgot to factor those in, also high ground bonus adds up to 25% bonus damage if available.

Actually from the looks of it both Knockout Powder and Knockout Bomb have an AOE effect...and they both have the same duration, same cooldown time and cost the same so what's the point of having 2 virtually identical skills in 2 different trees? It's not like you're locked out from the Subterfuge tree once you choose Assassin.
Makes no sense.

Yeah, with the right prep you should be able to completely tear something down before they know whats coming. I also like that passive that resets stealth anytime something gets killed. That's a pretty sexy skill, to bad it doesn't also reset the CD on hidden blades. That skill has a hell of a CD o.O
-edit-
Ok that's weird. Assassin's version sounds like it's AoE - doesn't list an AoE. Knock out Powder says it works against 1 enemy, has an AoE read out. The balls is going on.

Can I ask why are people hating on the Tempest specialization ?
It is fresh, it is new (unlike Rift Mage which just borrowed many spells from previous games), it has a lot of utility and most importantly, the class is looking good even if we do not know the upgrades.

I get warm and fuzzy with joy seeing someone else thought of this already
The thing with low HP bonuses is that with mitigation and tanking gear/passives, the health loss will be less a threat. Anyway, do you plan on 2H or S+B? Can you go more into detail on your build? I *LOVE* theorycrafting and it seems you are already ahead of me with this idea.

Wait does mark of death work with the whole parties damage on the target or just the rogues? The wording could mean either.

Is there anything set I could use to make a Battle Mage? I always liked being a mixed class, where I could be a damage meleer as well as a magic character like in DA: Origins, or Vanguard in ME. Anything come close to that? Or am I stuck with fighting from afar using sticks? Also, melee aside, what would be the best route for a battle magic kind of character? I'm kind of disappointed in what I'm seeing so far with my qunari mage.

I would imagine the entire party like it did in DA2.

So my PC is a Dalish mage and I'm gonna mostly focus on storm and necromancy.
Storm: 12
maxed
Necromancy: 10
maxed
Spirit: 4
Barrier (I assume that's a starting ability)
Guardian Spirit
Mind Blast (upgraded)
Winter: 2
Fade Step(upgraded)
So that's 28 points which should be doable if I take the extra skill point, I may even be able to go farther and if so I will go for Winters Grasp.
Actives
Energy Barrage
Chain Lighting
Mind Blast
Static Cage
Fade Step
Horror
Walking Bomb
Spirit Mark
I'll just use Lighting Bolt till I unlock/fill the necro tree. I am undecided about Haste, I am bringing Dorian so I could just give it to him and not bother with it myself, or switch it in and out depending on the battles/missions. Dorian will also be responsible for barrier/defensive magic as well as a few Inferno spells.

Is it confirmed that you only generate focus while having a focus ability in the bar? Because having to have an ability in the bar that you cannot use 50% of the time (just a guess) doesn't seem that nice ![]()

So did anyone know is each Focus skill change based on their Weapons since I heard that Focus skills will change depending on what type of weapon the Inq has.
