Probably not worth it then.

Well, it depends. Certain enemies like Elites rip through barrier like it's nothing, freezing them for a couple of seconds would be a good chance to slice 'em up and regain some in the mean time. Or flee, if you aren't a KE.

All you guys speculating about Barrier breaking combos: The KE ability that specifies restoring barriers actually specifies 'Stengthens your barrier', so to my mind this only effects you if you actually have an active barrier to strengthen. A broken barrier can't be strengthened as it does not exist.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I doubt they would make KE any more OP than it already appears to be.

KE generates barrier with hits. When KE has no barrier and hits an enemy the barrier appears.

Have we seen this or are we being hopeful? Not arguing just this is the way I interpret that ability.

Seen it in a video, 100% sure, checked specifically, was curious about this same thing.

So...KEs are nigh invulnerable?

As long as you hit stuff hard enough yeah, just like the Reaver.

Ohhh, just realized that I looked past a ridiculously awesome spell! Dispel with Transmute magic! Removes all the bad stuff from the player and good stuff from enemies AND give you barrier AND give you a freaking 25% dmg bonus for 10 sec, when the spell is on an 8 sec cooldown! As long as enemies have buffs or throw debuffs at the player you have a perma 25% dmg bonus and another nice barrier generator on a lower cooldown than the actual barrier spell. How about that? Definitely going im my arsenal.

I'm still in total awe at how much better Spirit Blade looks.

Seriously, it's an actual blade instead of a whip now. By the way, around 13:35 is an excellent place to see her getting an automatic barrier from spirit blade.

I'll have 2 KE on the front lines thrashing people with arcane blades, while Solas rains down meteors and Dorian hastes us all up. Then we all gonna throw out all different kinds of CC and combos, fire, lightning, ice you name it, and everybody be flying around the battlefield like death eaters.

I also had this party in mind ;)

My KE will be a Qunari. Sure i miss out on a skill point, but i gain melee defence and a unique inquisitor from a role play perspective :D

Yes, I'm responding to myself. So now I am in fact starting to reconsider my barrier focus, or at least question it. If KE's can create and replenish their barriers this easily, do I even need to put extra points into it? And it's possible that the barrier upgrades don't effect your spirit blade barrier, they might act separately. Question is, will the spirit tree upgrades to barrier affect the SB version of barrier. Will strength of spirits (posting the pic below) make my SB barrier be doubly as strong as without, or does that only affect the casted barrier from the spirit tree? If it does make the SB barrier stronger, than it's worth it. If it doesn't, then putting 8 points into spirit won't be as worth it as I thought. I guess we'll need to wait until the game comes out to test this stuff before I'll know.

Holy crap.. I never knew KE replenish barrier that easily.  How do Reavers do it?  Unless I'm missing something, I don't see a perk that allows them to regenerate barrier with an attack?  I see replenishing health with attacks though.. is that what you were talking about?

KE doesn't do This by default, To be clear, you have to unlock the passive.

The first clip demonstrates the Tempest abilities and focus. Sera is a real damage dealer.

This vid is a four mage team (Magequisition) on the offense. See the Firestorm spell in play.

THANKYOU :D

Flask of fire and flask of lightning compliment a archer tempest really well!

I wonder if a daggers tempest gets alot out of flask of frost? I would imagine it would be, given the ability to freeze opponents and the damage reduction. I hope the upgrade increase freeze duration and reduces cool down. Freezing enemies could enable enemies to be shattered ;)

And knight enchanter and necromancer are easily my favourite mage specs. Although i do see the potential of a rift mage with access to pyromancer and pull of the abyss and firestorm :)

After watching that tempest video I only had one thought. Mark of Death from Cole + Thousand Cuts = Win

I wonder if an Assassin quizzy slapped a dragon with Mark of Death not long after Cole whether it would stack with both the first Mark and Thousand Cuts?

There's no kill like overkill after all and no-one does overkill like Rogues.

Seeing these only made me want to play the game more.  I'm still settled on necromancer as a specialization.

My archer will be a Tempest. Damn if that isn't a powerful focus.

Sorry if this has been answered already, but do we know around what lvl or point in the game we get to choose our specialization?

To think that people said Tempest was an underwhelming specialization...

However, I think Tempest really shines when you are a dual wielding rogue...

You get only 1.

No.

Don't know.

Thanks a lot!

And as another person has asked... any idea how soon we can get our specialization? I'm particularly interested in how soon we can get Necromancy.

Do the companions already start having access to their specialization? Do we have to learn our specialization from some companion (which means he'd necessarily get it first)?

I basically wanna know if I can get Necromancy more quickly with the Inquisitor or with the Companion that has it. ^_^

It seems that you get the quest to unlock a spec at level 11.
