Why couldn't your party members combo off of Wrath of Heaven? They're...there...

You need Spell Purge if you want to combo Wrath of Heaven... (unless you are playing a 2handed Templar).

If you want to combo it solely on one character, yes. Wrath followed by Spell Purge will be strong in both CC, aggro management and damage but it's up to you if it's worth taking. For me yes, because my mages won't be running dispel.

It also remains to be seen how vital dispels are. It could well be that the game is chock full of enemy mages and we will be desperate for every dispel we can get...

I think what is easy to get caught up on is that all other specs focus solely on single character optimization while Templar makes you look at party optimization. No character is in a vaccum. If you go Reaver you're going to want to make a party that can balance that high risk/high reward play style. It's not just about what the spec can do it's about what it can do in relation to what your other party members will be bringing to the table.

Well one thing we know is that some of the enemy types that pop out of fade rifts like to cast barrier and I doubt they will be the only enemies that do. Dispel also has that added utility of stopping enemies as they try to come out of a fade rift.

But not necessarily capable of doing the combo. The only ranged AOE detonator are Dispel and Immolate. The only melee AOE detonators are Whirlwind, Spell Purge and Mind Blast. The stun last 4 seconds, so you don't have much time to react to it.

another handy combination is wrath of heaven with Coup de Grace from battlemaster tree.

stunn everyone around you and then all your warriors with battlemaster in your party strike with +30% damage.

insane

all the specs look like trash.

Necromancer- walking bomb?

rift mage- stonefist? Get out of here with that crap. DA:0 and 2 had better moves in NON-specializations.

This way, we'll be sure to not miss anything!

Edit: Also, I've tried asking him to show upgrades, but he doesn't understand that I mean the upgrades to the active abilities. =/

That...upgrade has such amazing synergy...considering BB has 100% uptime...helps compensate for the long CDs of those two aoe abilities.

hey guys, here's my Sword and Shield Templar build.  It's based on the skills that interest me and that would fit my character for RP purposes.

Set 1 Active skills:

X - Shield Bash (Upgrade: Ring the Bell)

Y - Lunge + Slash (Upgrade: Great Lunge)

B - Charging Bull (Upgrade: Gore and Trample)

RB - Shield Wall (Upgrade: Chevalier's Step)

Set 2 Active Skills:

X - Spell Purge (Upgrade: ???)

Y - Wrath of Heaven (Upgrade: ???)

B - Blessed Blades (Upgrade: Lights in the Shadow)

RB - Horn of Valor (Upgrade: That's the Spirit)

Passives:

(From Sword + Shield)

Warrior's Resolve

Turn the Bolt

Turn the Blade

Bear Mauls the Wolves

(From Battlemaster)

Coup de Grace

Deep Reserves

(From Vanguard)

Trust the Steel

It'll Cost You

Untouchable Defense

(From Templar)

Champions of the Just

Maker's Will

There is No Darkness

The Last Sacrifice

what do you guys think?  would that be a good build skill and passive wise?  do you think there will be enough skill points to get all of those?

If I take those 8 active skills plus all their upgrades, that's 16 points right there.  Then another 13 points for all the passives.  So 29 points in total I'd need, assuming we don't have to spend points on the skills in a certain order ( other than the upgrades ).

What's the level cap?

Depending on play style, between 20-30

Supposedly 25-30 although that will involve a lot of time. There are items that give you additional skill points as well as that one Inquisition perk. So not sure...what the total amount will be.

Looks good. Though it's a level 30 soft cap, I think.

hey, thanks guys!!  I'll make up my Knight Enchanter build later.

so, it seems like I'd just barely make it with that level cap.

wonder how many extra points you can get from items and such.

Humans start with an extra skill point, don't they?

Well, based on common sense and the other CDR abilities, you can guess as much. Half a second off the CDs is a waste of an upgrade.

great! glad I'm going Human for my Templar build. I might do Elf for my Knight Enchanter, but I'll have to see how many points she will need.

That extra point from the perk does come at a cost. Apparently you only get 10-15 perks and to get 15 you need to eek out every bit of influence. A lot of players simply won't have the perks to get it.
