Thanks! It was just bit cryptic description . So it is really worth picking and all what is left is to see flask upgrades and to see which one I will drop.
Tempest looks like a tough specialization to use well, but rewarding if done so. At least in theory...
The passives and actives in that tree have amazing synergy. I would take them all -- they work that well together.

DISClAIMER: I haven't played the game yet, and all of this is theorycrafting, like most of this thread.
I think you guys complaining about assassination and subterfuge/double dagger being too similar are missing the point. Assassination isn't supposed to be a standalone tree. The one complaint that I think has merit is knockout powder/knockout bomb. Way too similar. Hopefully they are differentiated some way (range, radius, enhancement for knockout bomb could be better/different).
But the rest of the tree is awesome.
Actives:
Hidden Blades: Highest attack in any of the 3 trees. Brutal. Even without its enhancement, this looks to be a really really powerful skill.
Mark of Blood: Depending on how it is implemented, this could be the highest damage single target attack in the game. We'll have to wait and see on this one. Fortunately it's at the bottom of the tree, so if it sucks you can skip it with no penalty.
Passives: This is where things get interesting. if you spend a bit of time looking at the three trees in question as a whole you'll notice that passives are generally sorted into 4 categories:
On kill - gain bonuses when killing an enemy
On stealth - gain bonuses when entering or shortly after leaving stealth
On flank - gain bonuses when flanking an enemy
On always - traditional passives, on all the time
So let's review what you have before assassination:
On kill - +50 stamina
On stealth - +50% damage on next attack, +shadow strike bonus, 50% armor pen
On flank - +10% crit chance, +twin fang bonus, 100% threat reduction
On always - 10% damage bonus vs lower health enemies (there are more than this, but let's just focus on the raw damage talents)
Now let's review what happens when you take the 4 assassin passives
On kill - +50 stamina, stealth cooldown reset
On stealth - +50% damage on next attack, +shadow strike bonus, 50% armor pen for 5 seconds, guaranteed crit
On flank - +10% crit chance, +twin fang bonus, 100% threat reduction
On always - 10% damage bonus vs lower health enemies, 2% damage boost for every 10% missing health, 25% armor pen
So basically, you'll start fights in stealth, with full stamina, 50% damage boost, 75% armor pen (or 62% if multiplicative) and a guaranteed crit. As soon as you drop your enemies you'll immediately be able to reset to this state, dropping all aggro and gaining half your stam pool. By the time your target is at half health you'll have another 20% damage boost thanks to Throat Cutter & Bloodied Prey. You have three very potent damaging attacks in Twin Prey, Shadow Strike and Hidden Blades, all of which benefit greatly from your increased access to stealth.
Mark of blood's 8 second duration could synergize beautifully with Twin Prey's 8 seconds of armor sundering enhancement. I see a lot of potential here for an extremely high burst takedown/escape artist, which is exactly the role assassins should be filling, IMO. Aside from the knockout powder/bomb collision, the skills all seem to synergize beautifully.
Anyway like I said, I haven't played the game yet, but if these skills work reasonably close to how their tooltips make it sound they will work, the assassination tree seems like a great pickup for double dagger/subterfuge rogues.

Ouch. While I'm a little underwhelmed by Mark of Death's upgrade, if Hidden Blades wasn't already a death sentence then it is now especially from Stealth.

Hey everyone. Currently working on my inquisitor builds....however i am having a hard time deciding whether to go with two handed or sword and shield for my templar.
Any advice????
from a math-ish stand point? go for 2H because the larger swings give you that 5% chance on each enemy you hit, and since they're less likely to have insane amounts of guard saved up, the boost your party gets when you fall is more likely to happen. plus the 30% damage boost on weakened enemies is in the 2h tree and so is the weaken on crits passive.

Pick whichever you prefer aesthetically. At this point there simply isn't enough information to give any hard rules about what's better. For example, Sword and Shield has 2 detonators, and this might be a huge boon. Then again, it might not.

There's no such talent at all. But a similar one exists in the Battlemaster tree.

I would just like to say that the roads are terrible, and to whoever put those Ice Mine spells down on the road in front of Gamestop...screw you, I used Fade Step to get past them and have reserved 3rd place in line for midnight tonight. I am the ice mage.
That is all.

Traditionally, Templars are also known for their sun shields, and most Templars we've seen were Sword and Shield warriors. So if you like going with tradition akin to the lore, there's your best bet.
Personally my Templar Inquisitor will be a Sword and Shield user. So much of Templar tree has been rebuilt to focus about party buffs/support, it's only fitting to have this image of a valiant warrior defender with his righteous blade and sun shield.
Combat wise, that's totally up to you. A lot of people like the idea of following up Wrath of Heaven with Whirlwind, but I can see the same combo (except replace Whirlwind with Payback Strike) work just as well.

Is Caltrops bugged? Thought it was supposed to be an AOE but Varric just dumps them at his feet when he activates it.
In all the videos i have seen of it that's how it works. The description says you "scatter" them and i suppose they cover a decent area so i doubt it's bugged. Not sure how big an area they cover with the upgrade.

Okay, these are from MP (and are hard to read), but here are five new upgrades. All of the base abilities were the same, so I think these are probably the same as the SP upgrades.
