Guy said he wasn't really into RPG's but was looking forward to it, it was probably on normal. He wasn't paying to much attention to what was going on that's for sure. Poor Solas.

If that was normal then I'm pretty happy. The no healing didn't seem much of a hindrance.

Yeah, if he had done a better job of keeping Solas out of the way of enemies he would have had no trouble with any of that.

NEW VIDEO PEOPLES!!!! Plus, Solas has a green shield spell equipped as well.
We also see some of what looks like Artificer trap skills.
Who are these people who get access to these builds? Does Bioware have a rule that they only let button mashers play these? lol
1) The green Rogue skills are a base Rogue tree, not a specialization: Caltrops, Poison Weapons, Hookshot (the one the dude was spamming with Varric), Knockout Bomb, and Throwing Knives are all included in this tree.
2) Solas' green shield is Barrier. They color coded all the skills to fit with their respective trees at this point. All Spirit spells are going to be green (e.g. Mind Blast, Barrier, Dispel).
3) Why won't anybody who's playing these open up the damn skill trees and scroll through them. Just for a second. That's all we need.
4) It looks like Seeker Swarm is officially going to be in the Primal/Lightning tree since it's purple. It still conforms to the element of your staff, so if you have a cold staff it shoots cold, fire staff it shoots fire, etc.

Indeed though I find it interesting that they decided to target Solas so much. Is that a behavior or was Solas using particularly threatening spells? I'm thinking the latter.

I'm guessing Barrier draws a lot of aggro (he was using it the whole time). This is great news for when I do my Knight Enchanter playthrough!

I think it's cause A, he was a mage and enemies probably go for mages and B, he wasn't taunting anything or trying to manage aggro at all with his warrior.

So pretty.
I’mma have to watch this a few more times, I kept getting distracted by the visuals and didn’t pay a lotta attention to the rest going on.^^
A couple things I did (or did not! xD) notice:
- Static Cage: looking awesome as always!
- “Seeker’s Swarm”: It’s got a *=combo; and seeing it together with Barrier’s updated icon (in green), I guess it’s safe to say it’s not ending up in Spirit, more likely in “Primal” (over there is a perfect color match w/ the Electricity icons). I kinda feel bad for Stonefist if it ends up there so earth-y & lonely (but where else could it go? O.o).
- Guardian Spirit: A little disappointed I didn’t get to see it in effect. Solas seemed to have it, dropped to low health a bunch of times, was beaten to death practically turned into elf paste & it never kicked in (if it did, I totally missed it).
- Focus Meter: Again, not there. I was clinging to Focus not yet having been introduced, but they were like lvl 12. And this video together with the twitch stream + scenes from the Crafting & Customization video suggestion new X old-er footage (icons updated, given brackets etc) – it’s too much of a coincidence at this point that all recent, newest footage never shows it… ![]()
Ugh. When you think you’re starting to figure it out & things are falling into place… lol. Bah, whatever. I’m done. Just gimme the game already! xD ![]()

I've got a hunch that Stone Fist is gonna end up in Rift Mage (the new "Force Mage specialization). When they updated the descriptions for the specializations, Stone Fist fits perfectly with the description of "pulling matter from the Fade to attack." Also, I went back and watched the Redcliffe demo, and when Stone Fist impacts it explodes into a Fade-like green effect. Kind of a retcon of the ability, since it would now be "Fade matter" instead of an Earth spell, but I'm ok with it.
Just my theory, but I guess they could put it in Primal/Lightning still below Seeker Swarm?

What was that purple bar thing that decreased over time rather quickly? It was either cast on 3 party members or just the other one by itself.

@UniformGreyColor: That was Barrier, the blue-ish overlay on the health bars is showing its duration and it absorbs damage instead of effecting your health bar. It's one of the dmg mitigation mechanics in place.
@IceQuinn: Yeah it's enough to make you wonder if it's even still in... but then it's in, it's been shown in the most recent combat video. Honestly I just think they changed the icon that shows you it's a focus skill, probably cause it looked super close to the sustained while holding button icon. I still think it's at the end of each tab, or well, some tabs. Probably don't get a bar till you unlock a skill for it.
-edit-
Then again it seems it's early story point, so... it could still be story progression. Wonder if his Quizzy even had his Mark Skill yet.

If thats barrier than whats the grey blocks over the health bar in some demos? Is that gaurd? It seems to function quite differently than barrier. Old new sorry for asking, but its not like this topic is active at 2 AM.

Yep that's Guard. Warriors can generate that for themselves by using abilities like blocking attacks with Shield Wall or taunting enemies with War Cry (the more enemies it taunts, the more Guard generated). Guard also doesn't diminish over time like Barrier, and it stays as extra health until enemies damage you.

Grey linking blocks is Guard. Stone Armor potions give that effect as well as a bunch of Warrior abilities. Such as group taunt will give guard per-enemy taunted. It's a mean to mitigate damage instead of needing mass healing. Both actually function like HP but barrier is a short duration spell, guard (least from what I can tell) isn't duration based but it maybe. In either case it doesn't seem to 'drain' overtime, its just straight temp HP.

I've been thinking the same thing regarding stonefist and rift mage.
In dragon age 2, the animation rips stone from the ground - in inquisition seems its gone back to what it looked like in origins, where the stone is conjured from the fade.
Also, the animation effects look very reminiscent of effects we see when fade rifts open.
if that is the case im totally fine with it. We have access to lightning, so my dalish rift mage is still using the old magic - thankyou Tale of Illoren!
I wish we could see some specs in action

Hey so that new video (the PC high settings thing) it just occurred to me, something folks have been curious about or afraid of was stamina/mana regeneration. Well the video is definitely showing a far slower stamina/mana regeneration rate at base which is nice to see. Passives as a means to get it back faster will definitely be important it's looking like.
Also I like the idea of Stonefist (and other-like spells) being part of the Rift Mage thing. More so if they all burst into green glowy stuff every time they impact things.

Sorry if this has been discussed (big thread) but Cass fired off an ability that gave all party members a rapidly diminishing barrier. Is that a focus ability do you think? Cooldown seemed short enough to spam that somewhat (assuming stamina was not being spent elsewhere).
Also, Mage Barrier is single target?

Barrier is an AoE - you can see it in a bunch of videos. In the Twitch stream, Cameron casts it to indicate how you can cast things out of combat.
Not sure about Cassandra's ability, but it's possible she ;used it at the same time as Solas cast Barrier.

Barrier as ^ told you is an AoE, but also targeted. Meaning, you cast it, you have the template (like DAO fireball), and then you cant it on the ground and affects everyone under the template. Seems pretty important to hit all melées with it constantly.
You guys are amazing, I love this thread. You have convinced me about the Stone Fist into Rift Mage spec. It makes a lot of sense, and since now there are other traditional spells that we know ARE in specializations (walking bomb into necro, for example), it is not something odd

I honestly haven't read all of the argumentation, but I still think Stonefist will be in with the lightning spells. Not only is their precedent for it in DA2, but we've seen multiple characters have it without specializations (like Rion from the MP and Vivienne from the E3 demo). Granted, lots of weird stuff was happening in that demo, but...
I just don't think it's a specialization ability.

Rewatched the video and you are right, Solas mana bar dropped when the Barrier went up. Cass used Taunt I think at exactly the same time.Barrier is an AoE - you can see it in a bunch of videos. In the Twitch stream, Cameron casts it to indicate how you can cast things out of combat.
Not sure about Cassandra's ability, but it's possible she ;used it at the same time as Solas cast Barrier.
I was confused becasue I saw instances of Barrier on single targets and thought it may be a different spell, but now realise it just didn't hit many targets.
