yeah but not before the dragonborn expansion right or was there a glitch or mod of some sort?

You needed Dawnguard expansion - it removed level cap by giving you "Legendary" option, which made it possible to reset you skill tree after achieving 100 in it.

I'm pretty sure that was Dragonborn... (edit: actually, this seems to have been added in patch 1.9... so technically it has nothing to do with DLC)

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that, as a mage, it'll probably be a good idea to take a wide variety of basic attack spells. Seems like most enemies have some sort of resistance to something, and I'd hate to go up against Cold Resistant enemies, for instance, with a mage that has one lightning spell and a bunch of cold spells.

So I'll probably specialize in cold, but I'll also pick up Chain Lightning and Immolate to be safe. Also, they're cool spells. Also, Energy Barrage might be helpful (depending on one's staff).

Totally agreed. All mages in my party will have access to at least one attack spell from every element.

I'm going to be going with Energy Barrage and a staff with an element the mage does not specialize in for the most part... although all of my mages will split their focus between at least two elements.  That might not be the case for the Inquisitor, but I am hoping that the Spirit Blade does spirit damage...

Energy Barrage looks like it will be extremely useful regardless since it does nice damage even without an upgrade and it is a detonator....

Agreed as well. Though my KE by default will have Ice and lightning spells in the eight slot. I'll swap the fire one when needed (with the tactical camera I'll search for enemies and their weakness).

I'm going to wish that I had more spell options...

Failing that, I'll likely specialize in Inferno. I don't know how many spells from other trees I'd truly want... aside from my preference for necromancy.

You should at least check out the Storm passives... some of them are very powerful even if you aren't using lightning magic.  There is also a passive in Winter that gives you +50% mana regen just from standing around for 3 seconds.   xD

YES. Inferno looks like it'll do massive damage. Plus the fire spells look pretty amazing aesthetically.

Inquisitor - Winter, KE (+ Energy Barrage)

Solas - Spirit, Rift Magic (+ Immolate)

Dorain - Storm, Necromancy (+ Fire Mine)

Vivienne - Inferno (+ Lightning Bolt, Energy Barrage) [no KE]

Plus some misc spells spread around... everyone on the list knows Barrier.

Interesting. I'm surprised about the winter popularity. There's not much damage - but I suppose the amount of control you have over the field would feel pretty good. I'm so glad they didn't remove ice wall. That's the one spell I REALLY want to use.

However, I'll probably go
Inquisitor: Necro/Storm/Inferno
Dorian: Storm/Winter/Spirit

And whoever else can do whatever. I probably won't bring them along as much.

Oooh, oooh, I wanna play!

Inquisitor: Winter + Chain Lightning + Immolate (and MAYBE extras if I have the points in Storm)...and Rift Mage (I would like 50 points please)

Solas: Inferno / Spirit

Vivienne: Inferno / Storm (Basic Spirit) and KE

Dorian: Necro and mix

I wonder if we might see a Knight Enchanter on Monday's stream. The picture they keep tweeting out looks like it might be a mage with a staff...could a Spirit Blade be forming in their left hand???

So for my mages in order of importance.

Inquisitor: Storm(full), Necromancy(full), Winter and some Spirit (like Mind Blast)

Dorian: Spirit (defensive spells), Inferno. Necro

Solas: Spirit(full), Rift and Storm.

Vivienne: Inferno(full), KE(full), Winter.

I'd have to go with:

Inquisitor: Storm, Inferno, Necromancy. Just hammering the "nuke" button as fast as I can.

Solas: Inferno, Spirit, Rift Mage. Mostly offense with a bit of support.

Dorian: Storm, Spirit, Necromancy. Mostly support and defense, some offense and CC.

Vivienne: Winter, Inferno, Knight Enchanter. Frontline combat, CC, a bit of offense.

Imagine a full party of mages full storm with stormbringer??? All the lightings!

And... hmmm have you noticed in the newest gameplays, there's no longer "Immunity" it says "Resistance" Does it mean elemental immunities are over?

Nope, There were still elemental spells that Solas cast and that some enemy was immune of (the word come up in place of the damage number).

Really? In a video I saw that, but it could also be immune to a particular effect... why would they change immunity to resistance if not?

Don't know.
I guess it's possible that it was referring to an effect like stun.
Are you sure that Both Immunity and resistance won't be present? Some enemy might be only resistant, While others are immune.

I want to play! I want to play! I just can't until I have all the informations... plus, in the same way the concepts has led me to keeping Varric/Sera ranged, Cole daggers and Cass/Blackwall, S+S, IB two-handed, I kind of want to keep Solas/Dorian/Vivienne as Inferno/Storm/Winter...

So if that's the case I'll likely go:
Inquisitor: Inferno/Winter(but I want Storm!)/Special

Dorian: Storm/Spirit/Necro

Solas: Inferno/Spirit/Rift

Vivienne: Winter/Storm/KE

Completely possible that both exist... but it was a noticeable change. In the E3 gameplay it only said immune to fire and now resistance to fire, other location and other creatures, that's true... who knows?
