Who else will be playing a mage supremacist?

My Dalish Elf will secretly be one.  He love's his clan, but still believes that mages of all races are the chosen one's by the creators and should rule the world and share wisdom.  Of course, not with a blood bath philosophy like Tevinter, but they should be protectors of the realm and guide the non gifted ones to salvation and favour in the eyes of the creator.

So, a Tevinter Magister but avoiding the social stigma that comes with being a Tevinter Magister?

Doubtful, but be careful guys.  This could get ugly damned quick, so don't get warning points as more folks wake up and come in.

Good luck!

Not exactly. Magisters believe they have the right to rule and do whatever the hell they want to lesser non mages. My elf thinks less of that and more protectors of the weaker kind. He still loves those he protects and would never use blood magic to control the masses.

Mages should rule with fairness and live and serve as protectors. In his mind, only mages can truly bring the non gifted to the light.

Please Elaborate, do you mean as a mage supremacist you plan on enslaving non mages?

Don't think that will be any of my play throughs. But interesting

Of course, your mage is the best sort of mage and all mages should aspire to be like your mage.

'Supremacy' is an extremely slippery slope, like Natashina says. Be careful.

No one. Trust me - this game wont allow you to do that. As much as I'd love to myself.

Good creators no! That would be an abomination in the eyes of the creators. We lead and guide with peace, we shouldn't enslave.

Poor mages. Having to act all superior to feel better about themselves.

I jest.

But seriously, no. I don't play mages and intend to side with the Templars when it comes down to it...

...I'm not even sure how I got in this thread. Close the door next time... :P

Still, I hope the game provides options for players that want to act in such a manner. I doubt they'll let you go too far with it, though.

Yeah good luck with that mages already proven that they can't be trusted with any sort of freedom not to mention power over others.Like it or not such idelogy will end on another tevinter.

I plan play contrary and put down mages as i think they have caused enough damage in setting.

Unfortunately for you Mages will never "disappear" and at some point you'll need the assistance of a mage. Remember, the only kind of Thedas entity that can combat demons is the Mage. Without the Mage in this time, demons would easily take over.

In fact, the only reason the Qun hasn't taken over everywhere is because of mage power. You'd do well to remember that.

You make a good point about the Qunari, but I don't think you're making a case by advocating supremacy for yourself. That just makes two tyrants instead of one.

Hey, folks get heated and I was trying to be nice and remind everyone to keep cool.  Not because I was trying to nag, but because some folks on my friends list on both sides of the robes and skirts debate would probably come here.    The mage/templar stuff can get extremely heated at times and I don't want to see fellow posters get warning points for being royal jackasses to each other.   That's all.   :)

That isn't true when mages in fact will never disappear they can be systematically killed instead circles but let's leave that for another topic.Mages are worst thing you can send against demons as you send them power ups it is like send mushrooms to fight with mario.Templars are best froce in thedas to face demons and mages thats what their trening is about

Qunari lost because they weren't prepared for taking entire continent that was too much for them (not mention that thedas would be in much better shape without mages causing disasters like blights and many others).

The only thing that mages are necessary i can come up is joining (and we don't know if we need mages) and it require only few mages.

Anticipation swells.

Also, probably not. There likely won't be adequate dialogue options, or actions one can take in-game, to reflect it, so even if I did want to play someone evil, there'd be no point.

Yeah, those Templars really showed those demons at the tower, on their knees worshiping desire demons.

A templar can barely fight a weak abomination. Well trained mages are the only force that can keep them at bay.

Not really. Steel can kill a demon as quickly as a spell; better, in fact, since Pride Demons can make themselves immune to magic.

In the Warden's Keep, you can kill Avernus, trick the demon into strengthening the Veil and then destroy it proving that while magic is useful, the smart ones would survive without it.

In fact, the only reason the Qun hasn't taken over everywhere is because of mage power. You'd do well to remember that.

And on the other hand, the only reason the Qun hasn't culled every mage is because of armies of normal people.

Or do you think the mage artillery would survive for long without actual soldiers doing every other job?

EEe i didn't said they kill demons on ease i said they are best force to fight demons demons are dangerous how much it depends... but is seems they could handle blood mages and abomnations in kirkwall during last battle pretty well.

Well abomnation is possessed mage so well.. not at all they can handle pride demon as they fought with them as codex show of course as they said it is colosal danger... many mages can't even handle demonic possession so well.

Wynne was the only mage still fighting.

On the other hand, Gregoir still had multiple Templars under his command. While they both managed to extablish lines of defense, it's obvious the Templars fared better than the mages.
